The Mysterious Helga Wagner

Original Article

Who is Helga Wagner? People have been wondering ever since a Washington Post story on May 18, 1978, which said that her name had been linked with Sen. Edward M. (Ted) Kennedy's in documents seized by federal agents in raids on the Church of Scientology offices(Snip) There was nothing in court records at that time to say who she was, or where she lived, or what her connection was to Kennedy. Now she has surfaced again. She and Sen. Kennedy both admit that she was one of the people he called long-disstance in the critical hours following Chappaquiddick.

People have to “forgive and forget,” she said. About someone who left a woman to drown and was never punished in any way for it. What a rarefied world the “elite” live in.

She was well known as his girlfriend back when, no mystery, all out in the open, common knowledge. Her shell jewelry was sold in one of the boutiques in Locust Valley, L.I. I still have one my mother gave me... she paid $110 for it back in the 1970's.

Are we asking questions people really want to know? My nephew called me yesterday to talk about the Apollo events. As an aside, he mentioned that Idiot Kennedy screwed up everyone's memories in 1969 and again this year. Mary Jo Kopechne was no available for comment. Neither were her parents.

I was listening to a radio talk show this past week and heard Howie Carr say Ted Kennedy did not report the accident until 48 hours and of course appeared before cameras with a neck brace. Carr also said the medical examiner found Mary Jo without wearing underwear. This was one of the best hush-up jobs we've ever witnessed. I often wonder how much money it took to buy the Kopeckne's silence. Kennedy was saved, by the Apollo Moon landing. It took Chappaquiddick off the front pages. We all know what Kennedy was. Imagine what the Me Too crowd would think of Ted Kennedy today. Oops! forgot he's a Democrat and a Kennedy.

As I recall, the payoff to the parents was something under $140K. Back then, women cared more about their reputations than they do now. The Kennedys threatened to smear that poor girl into something she wasn't if per parents tried to sue in open court. So they took a pitiful payout from Joe. I mean it was really an insultingly low figure for the life Teddy stole.

Joe Biden continued his string of public gaffes while campaigning in Iowa Tuesday, inaccurately claiming that Robert F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King, Jr. were assassinated in the 1970s. The former vice president, who has worried even his staunchest allies in recent weeks for often confusing times and places, made the slip-up during a campaign appearance in Urbandale, Iowa. “Just like in my generation, when I got out of school, when Bobby Kennedy and Dr. King had been assassinated in the ’70s — the late ’70s — I got engaged,” Biden told the audience, before proceeding to ramble about the counter-culture movement of the 1960s.

Once upon a time, the denizens of DC cared about the conditions of workers in Red China. Today, the Post sided with Chairman Xi in the trade war. (Snip) But the expose on Red China was 15 years ago when the second Bush was president. The Post wanted to hang anything it could on him. A recent New York Times report on the brotherly bond between Barack Obama and Joe Biden contains some interesting details about how Obama ultimately arrived at the decision to select Biden as his running mate in 2008. (Snip) At some point, Mr. Biden also told Obama aides that "Barack would never have to worry" about him positioning himself for another presidential run. He was too old, he told them, and he viewed his new job as a capstone, not a catapult. But while both sides assumed that vow covered the duration of Mr. Obama’s presidency, what might happen after that was never explicitly stated.

No one set out to turn the airwaves into a political weapon—much less deputize talk-radio hosts as the ideological enforcers of a major American political party. Instead the story of how the GOP establishment lost its power over the Republican message—and eventually the party itself—begins with frantic AM radio executives and a former Top 40 disc jockey, Rush Limbaugh. In the late 1980s, AM radio was desperate for new content. Listeners had migrated to FM because music sounded better on there, and advertising dollars had followed. Talk-radio formats offered a lifeline—unique programming that FM didn’t have. And on August 1, 1988, Limbaugh debuted nationally. At the outset, Limbaugh wasn’t
