They have destroyed Bond.
Is there no more imagination or originality? Can no one write new material? Why take established characters and changed them completely? I can see no reason why NEW characters of all types with NEW stories would not be welcomed.

Ok, I'm shallow and stuck in the Euro-centric beauty norms (/s?)... but, really? Zero appeal. Jussie Smollett is better looking. How can you do 007 without suave and debonair with a side a dashing? 71 yr old Grace Jones would be more realistic.

I don't think so. Star Wars lost me when they got rid of all the characters I'd followed on screen and in the many books. Who the heck are these people? Total strangers to the Star Wars universe. Now we have a female Captain Marvel. I won't even bother.
It's like the Charlies Angels characters. You mean those lightweight, skinny little girls are beating up big, heavily muscled bad guys? It was ludicrous. That may be the leftists, PC fantasy, but in the real world it just doesn't happen, unless the lady knows some serious kung fu.

Long-time "fans" of Flemming's Bond know that he would eschew political correctness or virtue-signaling. SO, this Progressive obsession with changing classic characters like James Bond to suit trendy socio-political agendas has NO authenticity ... it is a kind of creepy literary appropriation to "identify" with a popular character but change it to suit your agenda. Having bought the "rights" to that character just to radically change it doesn't fool real fans of the original, and actually PUTS THEM OFF.

The series of movies lost a huge chunk of cool when they ran out of Ian Fleming scripts/books.
Then they ran thru some of the worst plots ever, killing the Bond brand even more.
(I mean, why would so many private army men die for a megalomaniac?)
Now they are replacing Bond with a female?
Will she be a hard-drinking, free-sex having persona?
I'm betting not.
If Rami Malik plays the baddie that will be my only reason for ever (OnDemand) seeing it.

Fleming's Bond was cool, suave and dangerous. The 00 designation meant a license to kill if deemed necessary. The original as written was what made the character successful. I lost interest when the film people started with gimmicks like hollowed out mountains, etc. and milked the franchise for every nickel. I have no interest in watching some ridiculous super-babe try to be James Bond.

I don't go to many movies lately, primarily because hey are not appealing to me. Most movies appeal to men, in particular young men between 16 and 29. Changing the James Bond character to a black female will do nothing at all the increase appeal. In fact, I predict it will be the end of the James Bond franchise. Neither men or women will find it something worth viewing.

Well, the next time somebody in the media who happens to be black and complains about cultural appropriation, we sure have a whole list of things they have misappropriated and changed at the moment. They just cannot create their own characters, they have to steal and thieve from everybody else. Woe to those who complain, for they will get slapped with the victim and race cards in return. What I want to know is, has the widow of Albert Broccoli lost her mind?

I was actually hoping for a new Bond and would have supported Idris Elba for the role as he is spectacularly sexy, and has a great voice, and has the presence for it. A pathetic woman in the role is really more than I would be willing to go along with. Sorry, I am sick of macho women who pretend to be men and men who are willing to give up being men to make room for these freaks.
You have just lost this Bond fan.
