‘The Lion King’ is a fascistic story.
No remake can change that.

Last November, Disney broke the Internet with its teaser trailer for “The Lion King.” This 93-second video gave millions of people chills by faithfully re-creating key moments from the original film’s beloved opening number. But as nostalgic as “Circle of Life” may make us feel, this bombastic scene is also a painful reminder of the film’s ideological agenda: It introduces us to a society where the weak have learned to worship at the feet of the strong. As we watch the herbivores congregate

Kind of an interesting and racist take on humanity at large. The author is not familiar with a process known as introspection.
“As we watch the herbivores congregate to bow down before their newborn ruler . . .”
We saw that at the Democrat National Convention after Hillary stole all the delegates from Bernie – and everybody acted like they were OK with that.
“the film almost inevitably incorporates the white supremacist’s worldview, one in which some groups of people are inherently superior to others.”
No, just . . . no. Idi Amin wasn’t white. Muamar Gaddafi was not white. Fidel Castro wasn’t white, neither was Hugo Chavez, Nicolas Maduro nor any of the members of South Africa’s ANC. And, while Louis Farrakahn probably has no desire to be white he most certainly wishes he was supreme and that members of all other races, Jews in particular, would bow at his feet.
I would hate to live in this author’s world, if his longings ever came true and he could become supreme ruler of it.

Is there anything the Leftists at the Waa Poo can't turn into a misery? It's a story, like so many others. Most good stories have challenges that can break the hero, if they let it. The "lesson", if there is one, is that perseverance through struggles can be worth the fight. The "strong" in this movie, the rightful rulers, are respectful of the weak and keep the peace. They keep the jackals at bay. The weak cannot do this for themselves. However, there is a limit to what the rulers will do. All are still expected to carry their own weight, if they can. There are no absolute lessons here beyond the personal triumph of the young king.

Good god, it's a freakin' cartoon. I am not interested in the cartoon. But I am certainly NOT interested in entertaining the navel gazing of this leftist loon.

Something has to account for the blurred mush American kids have become. It can't all be blamed on the schools. All the super heros from America's golden age have turned into climate change perverts, as have the kids.

A note to the author: The old, the weak, the meek and the young need protection. They need strong men and women to guard them. They don’t need spineless cowardly men who preen by extolling their own selfish pacifism like peabirds who have lost their cocks. If you can’t face the fact that the world is dangerous then just be glad that God is sovereign in His heaven and that, at least so far, He has blessed our country. Pray and ask Him to continue His blessings. But I have a feeling you’ll leave that to others, too.

Things the Left has ruined.
Too many to count.
So, I happen to adore Song of the South. Ordered it for my children from France. Beautiful movie.

All I remember is that old monkey walking up to the edge of the rock with two testicles on a stick. I saw the play in NYC and thought it was a waste of money.

Many of the authors objections to "The Lion King" could equally be made about several of Shakespeare's best plays. They also dealt with clashes between the powerful, the weak, the evil, the rich, and the poor but did not question the "natural" stratification of castes and classes. I see "The Lion King" as just a moral parable loosely based on the natural order of species in the food chain with the lions rightly at the top. It also hearkens back to the notions of African pre-colonial tribalism similar to "The Black Pather" with heroes and villains tested by their courage in battle and power politics prevailing over enlightened democratic principles. In many ways the modern left is enamored by the legends of enlightened monarchs like John Kennedy and Barack Obama rather than the messy pragmatism of populist leaders like Trump. If you think natural selection is fascist then "The Lion King" could be seen as fascist but this seems to misunderstand both natural selection and state fascism.

OK, it's Disney, a well-known fascist corporation. Remember when they banned mustaches? Goes back a long ways.

The animated version was my son’s obsession when he was about 3. Drove me crazy—I wanted to burn that DVD! I still can't listen to the music 22 years later. It’s just a story—one that is actually nice, about love, family, friendships. If I thought it nefarious, I would not have had it in my house. People need to chill out.

Fascistic story? I've always considered it a 90 minute long commercial for toys and other Disney merchandise.

Paywall story. I thought that Lucianne didn't permit them. From the comments, it appears the article is Bee Ess in any case.

Most everything Disney has made it in the last 40 years, has a Socialist message. Toy Story may be the exception, but the jury is still out on that.

The strong have always won out over the weaker. It has been that way from the dawn of creation. Something large like a lion had to be created to take out other big predators. Everything evens out in the end. I think what I would consider fascist is the weak weaseling into power and then controlling the strong. That is why they want our guns. We are the strong, not the weaker sniveling Leftists.

Nevah feah, Smith is heah. Rumor has it a sequel is in the works: "The Lion Queen". A transgender (former) lioness runs roughshod and henpecks the old, stodgy leader of the pride. Climate change is conquered and most humans are exterminated. Sure to be a summer blockbuster in 2020.

As much as I'd like to show that the liberal university loon has gone off the deep end, maybe he's right. Didn't Uncle Scar off the King, throw the blame on the kid, and run the kingdom into the ground while living the good life? Sounds like fascism to me. Simba grows up, finds out that his homeland has been wasted, goes home, gets rid of Scar and prosperity reigns throughout the land. Oh yeah, and he gets the girl at the end. A happy ending.
