EL PASO, Texas- Beto O’Rourke was running for the El Paso City Council in 2005 when he asked to meet with the illustrious real estate investor William Sanders. Sanders had earned a fortune and a reputation as a brilliant businessman in Chicago before returning to his remote hometown on the West Texas-Mexico border. He thought the aspiring politician was there to solicit a donation. But O’Rourke was seeking permission to marry Sanders’ daughter Amy, whom he’d met less than three months before. “I sat down with him in his office and he was kind of an imposing figure and I was very nervous,” O’Rourke said in a phone interview. You would have thought some of his father in law's business acumen would have rubbed off on Beto. I wonder what Sanders thinks of his jerky son in law?

An interesting little tidbit, O'Rourke's mother dated William Sanders once in 1970. They were on a double date and O'Rourke's mother fell for the guy who was with the other woman. They were married a year after they met. Nothing scandalous just kind of funny how life works out sometimes.

In Beto's Wiki page is this gem, right near the top: "His father served in public office in El Paso as County Commissioner and County Judge.[a][1] Pat O'Rourke was an associate of Texas Governor Mark White[21] and served as the state chairman of Jesse Jackson's 1984 and 1988 presidential campaigns[22] before switching parties in the early 1990s and running several unsuccessful bids for office as a Republican." So O'Rourke's own father, a county judge no less, and a friend of the good Rev, decided two decades ago to leave his (probably) ancestral party behind. I wonder what caused that, and what effect it had on the young Bob O'Rourke?

The article points out how both of them are in favor of open borders, but for different reasons: "social versus economic". Meaning that moneybags Sanders wants an endless supply of cheap third world labor to exploit and undercut middle class American wages, while Beta wants an unmanageable influx of potential welfare recipients to flood and collapse the American system so socialism can be implemented.

Beto just comes across as a Hustler. He knew exactly what he was doing when going after the Richest girl in Town. Three months later marrying her! HA! If I had been her father, I would have run him out of town on a Rail! He hustled his way into a Rich family, is living the good life off of his Wife's money and her daddy is paying his way into politics! What a Guy! We used to call them Grifters! I don't think he's going anywhere!

What is so "complicated" about a skateboarding airhead who has no idea what real work is? I could walk downtown anywhere in this country and find a clueless teenager with hair in his eyes, defacing railings and sidewalks and risking his bones and family jewels attempting stupid stunts on a skateboard and occasionally sneaking off behind a tree to smoke another joint. The Irish Hispanic is not a novelty he is a boring example of our steadily declining, wasted younger generation. He may receive the attention of those like him on our college campuses but those people are just as much a waste of oxygen as Beto is.

Beto is an idiot created by his father-in-law and the media. The only things that Beto appears to be good at is marrying well (aka John Kerry), giving non-answer answers, and waving his hands and arms around while talking like he is swatting insects away.

A climate scientist, she was collecting coral skeletons to produce estimates of past ocean temperatures. She had been taking these sorts of research trips for two decades, and over recent years she had witnessed about 85 percent of the island’s reef system perish due to rising ocean temperatures. “I was diving with tears in my eyes,” she recalls. Building homes in California requires a significant investment of time, money, and other resources, leading many developers to avoid construction projects. But in northwest Los Angeles County, one builder has stayed the course since 1994. On completion in 2021, the 15,000-acre Newhall Ranch—billed as one of the world’s first large-scale planned communities—will feature roughly 22,000 homes that follow the curves of the Santa Clara River in the Santa Clarita Valley. Owned by Orange County’s FivePoint Communities, Newhall Ranch is expected “to be ‘net-zero,’ meaning no greenhouse gas emissions, by implementing several mitigation efforts including solar panels and open space,” according to local radio reports. PAMPLONA, Spain— Five people were hospitalized after the opening bull run of this year’s San Fermin festival in Pamplona, including two Americans and a Spaniard who were gored by bulls, officials in the northern Spanish city said Sunday. A 46-year old man from San Francisco was gored in the neck in the city’s bullring, at the end of the 850-meter (930-yard) course. His injuries required surgery, the regional government reported. A 23-year old man from Florence, Kentucky and a 40-year-old Spanish man were both gored in the thigh. Two young Spanish men sustained head injuries. The running of the bulls in Pamplona draws about 1 million spectators every year.

The Betsy Ross flag — 13 red and white stripes, 13 stars — was probably not designed by Betsy Ross. This is worth keeping in mind when it comes to thinking about the 1770s flag at the center of a very modern controversy. Its birth can’t be traced to any one person. It belongs to all Americans. The Ross flag was drawn into the culture wars with the best of patriotic and commercial intentions. Nike created a special sneaker, the Air Max 1 Quick Strike, to celebrate the Fourth of July. The back of the shoe featured an image of the Betsy Ross flag. Colin Kaepernick — former NFL quarterback,

The 2020 Democratic presidential race is still wide open, but candidates who have yet to break through have to decide how long they want to ride it out. In some cases, their ambitions for political Plan B will force them to make that call sooner rather than later. For former Colorado governor John Hickenlooper, who is polling at an average 0.2 percent, the pressure is coming from inside his own campaign to drop out and run for Senate. It’s a safe bet that he’s not the only one in that boat.

Brexit is no equal to Paradise. I raise the point only to counter Victorian poet Robert Browning, who opined that “a man’s reach should exceed his grasp, or what’s a heaven for?” That is to say, Brexit should be within the grasp of Britons who asked for independence from the European Union. It is not too much to ask. Yet more than three years since the historic vote, Britain is still a member of the EU. Having failed to meet the deadline of March 29, Brexiteers are understandably underwhelmed they will actually achieve independence by the new one, October 31. Surely, after finally cashiering the “Remainer” prime minister, Theresa May,

No, Nike is doing it wrong because it managed to do something that all the neo-Nazis, Klansmen, alt-righters, and other denizens of the lowest coprophagic phylum of our political life could never do: It turned the Betsy Ross flag into a racist symbol. We are witnessing the death of the liberal political machine that the elite has operated since the end of World War II, and everything that it is doing to conservatives right now – the censorship, the threats, the intimidation, the violence – is proof that it is dying. These are not the acts of an ideology in ascendance but rather of a scurrilous political paradigm in precipitous decline. And it’s only going to get worse as those losing their grip on political and cultural power desperately try to hold onto it in the face of our populist revolt. Be prepared. It’s going to get uglier.

This summer we reached a milestone in the American energy industry. The United States now produces 12 million barrels of crude oil per day. This shatters the record set a year ago, which in turn shatters the U.S. production record set way back in 1970. The United States is now the world’s top energy producer. We didn’t break the record by sheer luck. In fact, if the Democrats had their way, we wouldn’t have broken the record at all. Think back to 2011. Gas prices were near $4 a gallon. The entire nation was searching for a solution to what at the time seemed like prices that would only increase.

Nike offered a lame excuse that it had removed the shoe from retailers because “it featured an old version of the American flag.” In fact, it featured the American flag that was actually in use in 1776 on the original Fourth of July, and it is named for the pioneering Founding Mother to whom its design is commonly attributed, Betsy Ross. As it happens, a version of that very flag
