Helluva warning about the stalemate in Venezuela

Venezuela is in a stalemate. Ruled as a colony by its Cuban masters with a little puppet leader in the persona of Nicolás Maduro, it's as bad an economic shambles as Cuba is, and as with Cuba, millions of its people are fleeing. The United Nations declared it a death-squad regime, with 7,000 documented killings of dissidents. There's a legitimate leader in the legislative declaration of Juan Guaidó as president, but the man is powerless without an army to command and sadly fading to irrelevance. But there's not nothing going on. Francisco Toro at the Washington Post has a powerful warning that the Venezuelan vacuum

But this can’t be. This is the poster child for all of our socialists in office or running to be POTUS. Surely the press has it wrong.

Guaido isn't a legitimate leader, he's a US puppet. Venezuela was a US puppet until 1999 when the people elected Chavez. Chavez didn't want to be a US colony anymore, so in 2002 US backed a coup of Chavez. After 48 hours Chavez returned to office. Elliott Abrams was involved in the 2002 coup attempt as he is in 2019's of Maduro. In Feb. 2015 Obama backed a coup of Maduro which failed. US was enraged that Chavez wasn't a globalist. After paying all bills, he severed ties with IMF. If you exit IMF, the US will starve your citizens, carry out economic genocide via sanctions, etc. The US has wide open borders and a military that will defend every border in the world except the US border. US has no business whatsoever meddling in Venezuela.

Not just Colombia - all the way to Ecuador, which near the Colombia border, in a place called Buenos Aires, recently hosed out an entire town of illegal gold mining, human trafficking, murder, sexual abuse - run by Colombians and other non-Ecuadorians. Govt of Ecuador flushed it out about five days ago, Army operation.

Send the guns and ammunition. Let them fight their own war of revolution, if they care enough, if the are strong enough, and if they are willing to fight for their country. If they are weak, if they don't care, if they are unwilling to fight.....they will be enslaved like most of humans for most of history. Yawn. I;m willing to provide some tools for people to save themselves, but that is all.

Shouldn't women's soccer be about ... soccer? Today's the final in the women's world cup for soccer, and the U.S. team will be squaring off against the Netherlands. Google's done several memes around this earlier, with memes of decidedly unglamorous big-thighed women from various countries making frontal power kicks, and that's O.K., soccer actually does give anyone playing it big thighs, and not every woman ought to be all-in on the Beyonce pop princess standard of Hollywood anyway. As my sister says, it's a different kind of beauty. But the messages they have out today are actually redolent of Soviet

Joe Biden likes to twist in the wind with the whatever the cause du jour is, and probably the most obnoxious and disgusting of all his twists are in his past effort to keep our allies, the South Vietnamese and other Southeast Asian refugees and boat people out of our country in the 1970s. Here's what the Washington Examiner reported: Joe Biden, the 2020 Democratic presidential front-runner and advocate of large-scale immigration, once tried to block the evacuation of tens of thousands of South Vietnamese

GENEVA — Venezuelan special forces have carried out thousands of extrajudicial killings in the past 18 months and then manipulated crime scenes to make it look as if the victims had been resisting arrest, the United Nations said on Thursday in a report detailing wide-ranging government abuses targeting political opponents. Special Action Forces described by witnesses as “death squads” killed 5,287 people in 2018 and another 1,569 by mid-May of this year, in what are officially termed by the Venezuelan government “Operations for the Liberation of the People,” United Nations investigators reported. As Venezuela’s economic and political situation continues to plumb new depths, analysts fret that the crisis is bound to spill over its borders sooner or later. The most obvious candidate for destabilization is Colombia, which lies just across a long, porous, heavily populated border region that stretches over the Andes and down through the Amazon jungle. It’s no picnic having a failed state on your border. As Rwanda found out in the ’90s when the perpetrators of its genocide set up camp across the border in the vast, ungoverned jungles of Congo, security threats quickly become unmanageable if your foe has a safe harbor just across a lightly patrolled border.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is one of the few Democrats who's openly stood up for and defended the socialist Venezuelan regime even as millions of Venezuelans seek to dislodge it from power. She's also gone against the grain by stating she's against horrific prison conditions, even when they involve people she despises such as Paul Manafort, who had been threatened with a stretch on Rikers Island by prosecutors seeking to pressure him to hand over information to arrest President Trump. She's rather rightly called that a matter of principle. Now a report from the United Nations high commissioner of human rights is out, on Venezuela, and it's profoundly ugly.

President Trump holds winning cards on the Census citizenship question, both politically and legally. An overwhelming majority, 67% of Americans, see such a question as legitimate, and those who want to obscure the difference between citizens and non-citizens have an argument that will not add to the ranks of those voting Democrat in the 2020 presidential race. Moreover, despite media spin ("American pride has hit an all-time low, a poll finds") emphasizing the increase in the number of Americans who aren't proud (almost all of the increase among Democrats, who love America only when a Democrat is president), fully 72% of Americans

The economy is roaring as today's non-farm payrolls report shows. June job gains showed a (way) greater-than-expected 224,000 gain. The unemployment rate "nudged" higher to 3.7%, solely because 335,000 discouraged workers are finally reentering the workforce. Fox News' financial expert, Charles Payne, notes that here. It follows on from Wednesday's news that U.S. stocks hit an all-time high, with the DJIA ending at just under 27,000. Nasdaq and S&P hit all-time highs, too. And don't forget the record low black, Latino, female, handicapped, and even ex-con unemployment rates. We've never seen anything like this before.

I was going to write this piece on the left's ugly way of censoring little eight year olds who make fun of congressional members, such as the precocious Ava Martinez whose satirical impersonations of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez are preternaturally brilliant. The child's family got doxxed and death-threatened, and as a result, the little girl's parents announced the shutdown of all the child's social media accounts, whose videos have delighted conservatives. Today's prize for lack of self-awareness goes to the Austin, Texas city council. While it is fine and dandy for homeless people to camp out in front of people's homes and businesses, with all the problems of human waste, panhandling, mental illness, and open drug use that we in the Bay Area see whenever we venture to take a walk in San Francisco, the wise councilors exempted their own place of business from the such concerns. Elizabeth Findell of the Austin Statesman writes: After emotional testimony last week regarding homelessness in Austin, City Council

President Trump has chosen a huge winner for the Federal Reserve Board -- economist and monetary expert Judy Shelton. Start with her achievements: Same as our friend Herbert Meyer, she forecast with near-date accuracy the actual economic collapse of the Soviet Union based on economic reading alone. It was a bold prediction, made two years before it actually happened, in 1987. She was criticized for it, but she knew she was right and doubled down. In 1990, she wrote a book called "The Coming Soviet Crash: Gorbachev's Desperate Pursuit of Credit in Western Financial Markets." The book of course drew naysaying for it, too, oh they called her an extremist

Toilet paper – the one product that the majority of us use just once and flush away – is becoming less sustainable, according to research. Analysis from Ethical Consumer magazine found that major brands were using less recycled paper than in 2011, while only five of the nine major supermarkets (the Co-op, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Waitrose) offered an own-brand recycled toilet paper. The large-scale use of virgin paper contributes to unnecessary deforestation. The UK uses 1.3m tonnes of tissue a year, according to the Confederation of Paper Industries, with the average British consumer reportedly getting through 127 rolls every

Kamala Harris, calling on the nation to “deal with the racial wealth gap,” on Saturday proposed a $100 billion federal program to help black people buy homes. The California senator said the plan, which would provide down payment and closing cost assistance of up to $25,000 to people renting or living in historically red-lined communities, would help some 4 million home-buyers. The plan’s release comes as Harris surges in Democratic presidential primary polls following a debate last week in which she chastised former Vice President Joe Biden for his past opposition to busing and former associations with segregationist senators. His bombshell comments risk angering the notoriously thin-skinned President and undermining the UK's 'special relationship' with America.

Nike has withdrawn a new Independence Day-themed shoe featuring the Revolutionary War-era flag after former NFL quarterback and Nike-endorser Colin Kaepernick complained that the flag was a symbol of the slave era, according to the Wall Street Journal. Nike offered a lame excuse that it had removed the shoe from retailers because “it featured an old version of the American flag.” In fact, it featured the American flag that was actually in use in 1776 on the original Fourth of July, and it is named for the pioneering Founding Mother to whom its design is commonly attributed, Betsy Ross.
