Arctic Mystery

A tragic fire aboard a secret Russian nuclear 'mini-sub' in the Barents Sea that killed 14 senior sailors has refocused media attention on a little noticed flash point of the world: the Arctic. That an important Russian system was being tested or demonstrated was suggested by reports "that among the 14 dead were 7 senior navy captains and 2 'Heroes of Russia'." The presence of so many Russian navy worthies raises questions because brass do not typically twiddle dials on mini submarines but watch them being twiddled until something went horribly wrong. One may speculate endlessly on the true nature of the Russian experiment.

Fernandez is correct, something big was going on but I'm sure the US Navy is on top of it. Nobody operates and communicates better underwater than we do. The fact that very little is known about what we do under both poles illustrates that secrets can be kept when you don't allow leftists to participate in the programs. I can see how a small fire in an oxygen-rich mini sub environment could be devastating in a matter of seconds. You can be sure that larger support vessels were nearby but could not do a thing to help.

Under these circumstances, we need a strong President and we certainly have one now, so why would we ever want to change? The weak leftists would ignore this issue and neuter the military in their open borders - everything for free panacea. The military would be last in line for funding and support. Wake up America!

I'm surprised that this much information on Russia's accident is available, much less being made public. To me, this fact is almost as interesting as the information itself. I'm . . . encouraged!

CHINA-RUSSIA-IRAN...back in the OBOZO days of regret, were conspiring then to move on the USA. Then Barry destroyed the military via non-funding. Of course it was his (?) agenda...he left the USA weak and feminine and almost unrecognizable to those born circa 1954. These three countries are now poking the bear with a hot stick...and we are unprepared to respond totally. D.J. Trump and the military industrial complex better wait and fend off all knew-jerk military responses...they will act in tandem...and WE THE PEOPLE will be part of the communist nation called CHINA.

If you needed to execute seven disloyal Navy captains and two heroes of Russia, and do it in a way that preserved secrecy and allowed their families to honor their dead, well, this would certainly provide ideal cover.

Submarine accident as cover for a high level execution? If it were any other nation than Russia I might not believe it. After all, Russia invented the most innocuous ways to execute somebody. Umbrella jabs used to be a regular thing for them to do to a disloyal Russian back in the day.

Russian nuclear submarines are extremely dangerous, deadly strategic weapons.......for Russian navy personnel. Hundreds and hundreds of dead Russians in their subs, steady drumbeat. Shoddy workmanship, unskilled crews, poor designs.....all coming together, frequently.

Mark Hemingway caught Joe Biden’s “especially combative” interview with Chris Cuomo on CNN yesterday (video below). Hemingway reports that when Cuomo shifted the topic from mandatory school busing to Russian election meddling in Europe and America, “Biden bizarrely asserted that the Obama administration never let that happen.” Biden’s catchphrase in this short interview is “C’mon, man.” Count the times he resorts to it. If Biden remains a serious candidate, I’m afraid the interview is worth watching. It put me in mind of Robert Gates’s observation that Biden has “been wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades.”

On this year’s Fourth of July vacation—a holiday my family still celebrates (call us old fashioned)—my wife and I were walking along a Grand Haven, Michigan street when we overheard how, in the World Cup semifinals, Britain had just tied the U.S. women’s soccer team at 2-2. Unable to watch the remainder of the game, later that night in our hotel room, we made a point to stay up late to see if, in fact, America’s women won the match. As is so often the case, the word on the street was wrong—Britain had never tied the match

On July 4th, 1976, as America celebrated its Bicentennial, four Israeli Air Force C-130 Hercules planes carrying over 100 Jewish passengers, twelve Air France flight personnel, and their Israeli rescuers landed safely at Ben Gurion Airport. The safe landing of civilians and commandos marked the end of a week-long, nightmarish drama that gripped all of Israel. The saga began on June 27, when a Paris-bound Air France commercial airliner took off from Tel-Aviv. The plane was scheduled for a stopover in Athens. Lax security at Athens International Airport enabled four terrorists with forged passports – two from the notorious West German Baader-Meinhof Gang and two
American Presidential Elections Are Too

American presidential elections have become a political clown show cum soap opera that goes on far too long and has become a true danger to the country in a variety of ways. On the simplest level, it used to be said that you could never get anything done in Congress in an election year. But now it's always an election year. No wonder nothing gets done. And that's only the half of it, the easy half. Those other old political watchwords — that partisanship ended at the water's edge — have gone out the window and are now headed for Alpha Centauri.

Anti-extremism researcher Eoin Lenihan struck a nerve when he published the results of a study showing the links between liberal news outlets and the violent thugs who organize under the name "antifa." After Lenihan published his report, antifa activists contacted his employers to get him fired and reported him on Twitter, succeeding in shutting down his Twitter account. A reporter with the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has disputed part of Lenihan's story, as noted in an update below. Lenihan's story seems all the more important after Rose City Antifa in Portland beat up Quillette editor Andy Ngo, using milkshakes with quick-dry cement and landing him in the hospital

I wrote here about an attack by Antifa criminals on journalist Andy Ngo in Portland on Saturday. Ngo was hospitalized and had several thousand dollars worth of camera equipment destroyed. It turns out that at about the same time, in a different area of the Antifa rampage, Brownshirt thugs attacked and seriously injured two other men. Rather than re-tell the story, I will simply embed Michelle Malkin’s tweets, which include photographs of the victims: (Tweets) Michelle says that these two men were beaten by the fascist thugs because they tried to help a gay man who was being chased by Antifa.

Andy Ngo is a Portland-based journalist (for Quillette) who has made it his business to document the violence and insanity of Antifa in his city. Today they got him. They beat him up and stole his camera equipment. One gets the impression that Antifa rules Portland with the same impunity that the Ku Klux Klan ruled Birmingham in the 1960s. Do they actually have police in Portland? Do they have functioning government there? A reporter for the Portland Oregonian recorded some footage of those masked cowards attacking Ngo: [Video] Ted Wheeler is the mayor of Portland, a city where the violent far left gets to beat people up with impunity.

Jimmy Carter’s latest is at best delusional. It seems almost inconceivable that a former president would say something like this, but we live in a time when all norms have been abandoned by the Democratic Party: There is no doubt that the Russians did interfere in the election. By buying a tiny handful of Facebook ads that promoted Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders and Jill Stein, and attacked Marco Rubio and Hillary Clinton, and, allegedly, by phishing the DNC’s email system with the result that more people became aware of the obvious fact that the DNC had helped Hillary get the nomination.

Toilet paper – the one product that the majority of us use just once and flush away – is becoming less sustainable, according to research. Analysis from Ethical Consumer magazine found that major brands were using less recycled paper than in 2011, while only five of the nine major supermarkets (the Co-op, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Waitrose) offered an own-brand recycled toilet paper. The large-scale use of virgin paper contributes to unnecessary deforestation. The UK uses 1.3m tonnes of tissue a year, according to the Confederation of Paper Industries, with the average British consumer reportedly getting through 127 rolls every

Kamala Harris, calling on the nation to “deal with the racial wealth gap,” on Saturday proposed a $100 billion federal program to help black people buy homes. The California senator said the plan, which would provide down payment and closing cost assistance of up to $25,000 to people renting or living in historically red-lined communities, would help some 4 million home-buyers. The plan’s release comes as Harris surges in Democratic presidential primary polls following a debate last week in which she chastised former Vice President Joe Biden for his past opposition to busing and former associations with segregationist senators. Nike has withdrawn a new Independence Day-themed shoe featuring the Revolutionary War-era flag after former NFL quarterback and Nike-endorser Colin Kaepernick complained that the flag was a symbol of the slave era, according to the Wall Street Journal. Nike offered a lame excuse that it had removed the shoe from retailers because “it featured an old version of the American flag.” In fact, it featured the American flag that was actually in use in 1776 on the original Fourth of July, and it is named for the pioneering Founding Mother to whom its design is commonly attributed, Betsy Ross.
