Jimmy Carter, Electoral Oracle

Jimmy Carter’s latest is at best delusional. It seems almost inconceivable that a former president would say something like this, but we live in a time when all norms have been abandoned by the Democratic Party: There is no doubt that the Russians did interfere in the election. By buying a tiny handful of Facebook ads that promoted Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders and Jill Stein, and attacked Marco Rubio and Hillary Clinton, and, allegedly, by phishing the DNC’s email system with the result that more people became aware of the obvious fact that the DNC had helped Hillary get the nomination.

His mind has been slipping for quite a while now. At this point, however, more is in play. Someone is scripting for him. Is someone in his family being blackmailed or paid off? It seems at this point that there is more than just dementia. Someone is encouraging him to speak. Decades ago I saw him as an honorable man, but if he is, he has forgotten that discretion truly is the better part of valor. Is anyone in his family embarrassed by this? Is there anyone who has enough influence to shut him up before he shreds what little decent legacy he may have had?

I want to think of Jimmy Carter as a grandfatherly old fellow teaching Sunday School. But then he says something that reveals what a Partisan hack he really is at heart. Calling the President of the United States illegitimate is completely irresponsible.

Kidnapping. Abuse. Human trafficking. These are just some of the allegations an anonymous plaintiff is making in a suit filed on June 18 against the Church of Scientology and its current leader,David Miscavige, 59. Jane Doe, who’s believed to be around age 40, is suing the church — which boasts a host of famous members, including Tom Cruise, John Travolta and Kelly Preston — for kidnapping, stalking, human trafficking, false imprisonment, libel, slander, invasion of privacy and intentional infliction of emotional distress. “The Church of Scientology presents a facade to the outside world to disguise what, in reality, is nothing more than a cult built on mind control,”

You don't have to exhume Dr. Hunter S. Fear, as the good doctor famously said, and loathing. The fear is obvious. The Democrats and Mueller too, of course, not to mention an indeterminate number of FBI, DOJ, State Department, intel agency, and former administration scalawags are scared defecation-less waiting for shoes to drop from U.S. Attorney John Durham and Inspector General Michael Horowitz working under the steady hand of AG William Barr. ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Dr. Heather Judkins just made history. Squid history. Aboard a NOAA research vessel, The USF St. Petersburg professor and a team of explorers sent a deepwater submersible camera named Medusa deep into the Gulf of Mexico. The cephalopod expert was asleep when the camera captured video of a marine creature that had never been seen alive in U.S. waters. Only a handful of scientists have seen the animal alive anywhere in the world. "I was woken up from a nap," Judkins said. "There's a knock on the door. 'Heather! Heather!' It was only a few months ago that Democrats were dismissing the crisis at the border as manufactured by Trump, and now they’re comparing migrant detention centers to concentration camps and blaming Trump for “putting kids in cages.” But for those still trying to blame President Trump, Barack Obama’s former ICE chief, Thomas Homan, has a reality check for them. Speaking at a conference hosted by the Center for Immigration Studies, Homan explained that the “cages” Democrats are blaming on Trump were the product of the Obama administration: “I’ve been to that facility, where they talk about cages. That facility was built under President Obama under

FORT MEADE -- Sheriff's deputies are investigating after an alligator was discovered with its jaws on a man's body. The site was near an old phosphate mine off Peeples Road. The Polk Sheriff's Office got the call from a supervisor at phosphate mining company Mosaic around 7:45 Thursday morning. They found the dead man in a canal after someone spotted both the body and the gator. The sheriff's office says the creature "disengaged" when they arrived. State FWC agents shot and killed the alligator. Deputies say they don't know what caused the man's death, and won't say until the medical examiner finishes

When the US launched cyberstrikes at Iran's missile control systems in response to an Iranian shoot down of a US drone near the Gulf of Oman, it surprised pundits. Chicago police released hundreds of files and nearly 70 hours of video footage on Monday from the investigation into Jussie Smollett's claim back in January that he was attacked by two men -- a claim that police later characterized as a hoax. In one of the videos, police body-cam footage showed Smollett -- with his face blurred -- wearing a white rope that he told detectives his attackers looped around his neck. When one of the officers asked Smollett if he wanted to take the rope off of his neck, the 37-year-old actor did while stating: "Yeah. I do. I just wanted you all to see it."

The Trump administration's willingness to take on Iran, China and Russia -- in the economic and diplomatic sphere at least -- raises the question of whether even low-intensity conflict can eventually lead to a crisis. The apparent abolition of war in our globalized world has been replaced by what Austin Bay called in his book Cocktails from Hell "a hazardous form of peace". The danger is that such conflicts may boil over. The first flashpoint may be Iran. (Snip) The shootdown, which occurred near the Gulf of Hormuz, close to where a number of tankers were recently attacked, comes on the heels of increasing U.S. economic sanctions on Iran.

Elizabeth Warren is beginning to solidify herself as a top-tier candidate in the Democrat primary. She has been forced to backtrack on her decades-long claims of being a woman of color, but Harvard still has not done the same. Why has Harvard not set the record straight? In 1993, Harvard Law School offered Warren a highly coveted tenured professor job. The record is clear as to how she obtained the offer -- Harvard had been the subject of a discrimination lawsuit at the time regarding its hiring practices, and the school was openly trying to hire women and people of color at its law school. Warren did not begin her job
