SALT LAKE CITY — Police arrested a Salt Lake man Friday who they say murdered University of Utah student Mackenzie Lueck, who has been missing since June 17.
"It is with heavy heart that I address you today," said Salt Lake Police Chief Mike Brown.
Ayoola Adisa Ajayi, 31, was arrested at 9:20 a.m. at an apartment complex at 1028 S. West Temple. He is expected to be charged with aggravate murder, aggravated kidnapping and desecration of a body, according to Salt Lake Police Chief Mike Brown.

Ayoola sounds like a good Mormon name.

He is an African immigrant it seems.
I hate to think how she died. I feel so bad for her family. I can not imagine their pain.
May her sad and completely avoidable death serve as an object lesson to the females she was seeking to school in being a "sugar baby", simply prostitution by another name. I can't understand why these immature, thoughtless females think they could never be a victim when countless thousands just like them have suffered such a fate.

Why oh why did this young woman enter into this arrangement? 3am? Didn't ANY alarm bells go off in her head as she was planning this escapade?
Nothing in his bio on line was remotely credible.
Even if it were, meeting a stranger, not having told family or friends where she was going, arriving at 3am... just can't understand.
Most of us have done dumb things, and thankfully survived without too much trauma, or by the grace of God, trauma at all. I have siblings who were more adventurous than I, and I guess i'm glad I have never been told everything they did, especially my sister. How many of us have not listened to the wise words of parents, or warnings from adults or other more experienced people? I guess some of this is just the foolishness of youth. But Lueck was 23 years old, and there's plenty of recent news about young women putting themselves in vulnerable situations.
Alas, having worried about loved ones, I can only imagine the agony the family is going through. such a senseless act of savagery.
As for the monster, the first clue as to his identity was the "fill in the blank State/city/town' man..." And then his name. sad to say

Another in a long list of foreigners doing hideous crimes in the US?
We really do have to stop letting these people in, and letting them remain here.

Over a good five years ago a young, very drunk ,college freshman from IU was snatched off the street never to be seen again. You can't be drunk, walking down a dark street and think nothing bad might happen to you. I wish I could say that you should be able to walk naked down the street singing the Sesame Street theme song and be safe but you can't. Young women must be vigilant and totally aware of those around you, who you associate with and if you decide to play with fire you might get burned or worse. I do not want to blame the victims but you simply cannot put yourself in dangerous situations and expect a good outcome. As a society we now treat having sex with someone you hardly know on the same level as going out for coffee. How horrible for her family and friends. Especially those who did not know of her secret life. So sorry for everyone.

''Why oh why did this young woman enter into this arrangement?''
Perhaps she wanted to show that she was a good leftist, and embraced multi-culture ideology fully?

Was she more than a sugar baby? 3AM trysts are more in line with traditional prostitution. And some will wonder if he was her pimp.
Sad.

That's the second U of U coed to be killed by her black "paramour" in lily white Utah this academic year. Gotta love that diversity.

The men involved in the Jussie Smollett scam are referred to as "Nigerian brothers" when in fact they were born and raised in Chicago. This murder suspect was born in Nigeria yet he is being referred to as "Salt Lake man". Could it be the media has an agenda?

Mackenzie has the most beautiful biggest gorgeous eyes I’ve ever seen, that’s just from her photos. I can only imagine them in person. This is so sad it’s beyond imagination what she suffered at this monsters hands. God bless her and keep her. I hope jailhouse justice is swift for her killer.

Many years ago on a Fox News Show the host and a panel of know it all "experts" were discussing a case similar to this. When the old retired cop made the same points that #5 makes, the women and the female host of the show, shouted the old cop down with the standby line of the day, "don't go there". It became apparent to me that many women think that men who think a young lady should be more aware of her surroundings is just a misogynist or some sort of woman hater.

#5 I’m aware of whom you’re speaking but cannot remember her first name. Spier I think was her last name. Lauren possibly was her first? She was in the news for the longest time and I remember my younger teenage stepdaughters asking me where I thought she was. I said oh she’s tied up in someone’s basement. I was trying to make an impression without being preachy. Crazy though they’ve never found her.

Although the suspect’s name was given once during the news conference, Fox News elected to not include it. Deseret News had no qualms. Photo of his arrest is included.
