I'D OCCASIONALLY seen him in the gym — we both work out at the same Brookline Village health club — but we had never previously had occasion to speak. The other day, as I was using a weight machine near the front desk, I noticed him approach and speak to the staff member on duty. He motioned with apparent consternation toward the TV screens mounted on the opposite wall, and I heard him say the word "Fox." One of the eight screens was tuned to the Fox News Channel, and it became clear he wanted it changed.
"I'm sorry," the staffer replied. "Another member

20+ years ago, when I worked in cubicle land, I was listening to Rush on an old GE bakelite radio that had a bad amplifier so you could sit directly in front of it and barely hear the program. The guy in the next cubicle asked what I was listening to and I said I was sorry that he could hear it and asked if it bothered him. He said that no he could not hear it but knew I was listening to Rush and THAT bothered him. Liberals resort to fascist tendencies by default.

I'd like to hear a story like this from a location OTHER than Brookline, Mass. We travel by car a good bit from Pittsburgh to Tampa to St Louis to East Texas, staying in the hotels of a national chain along the way. ONLY in Atlanta will we find CNN on the TVs in the lobby and breakfast room. FOXNEWS dominates and no one is bothered. In second place we will see a weather channel or maybe a local morning program. Jacoby needs to leave the NE more often. He might feel better if he gets a broader view.

It is interesting to me that Fox has the highest viewership of all the cable new programs even more than many of them combined yet, finding it on in a public setting is extremely rare. I am not saying it is perfect but, it is the best we have.
The only reason you don't see it is due to the whacko leftists the throw a tantrum like the poor baby in this article.

I think we should also give credit to the staff of the gym for not caving in to that hate-filled snowflake. Any indication of rationality should be applauded.

This same behavior happens at the 24 fitness gym where I used to work out at. Turns out there are several early bird libs who make sure that at least two or three TVs are tuned to CNN every day. If not, a late arriving lib will approach the front desk and have the 24 hour employee bring the remote over to change TV's from Fox to CNN regardless of who is working out in proximity to the TV in question. When you challenge them, then it becomes a pi&@ing match over why do we have to have CNN, why do we have to have FOX. Not helpful is that the 24 Hour Fitness people at the front desk are generally quite young and come across as hard left libs. But, problem solved when wife and I moved to western Colorado where there are many right-minded individuals like us.

Pardon me if I offend but there is something wrong with the people of Massachusetts. The first person I ever met from there was a petty officer in the Navy and "petty" was definitely the right title for him. He was the worst little Napoleon wannabe I've ever known. Years later I was on an IT project in Dalton having lunch at a little place called The Shamrock. The bartender was a long-haired burnout who was already drunk by noon and was ranting about George W. Bush who had just had the weight of 9/11 placed on his shoulders. There is a whole string of them in politics today and not one is a decent human being.

#9, I know some very nice people from Massachusetts, but there may be a level of civility lacking in some others. We had a software engineer spending several days dealing with our problems with his product. He was from Natick. He marveled at the efficiency of the many four-way stops he had encountered while he was here. He said "People actually stopping and taking turns! At home, there would be a race to beat the other three cars and using finger gestures to address any honking horns." That behavior might get you a dented fender in Texas.

I’m about to have a liberal invader in my home for an indeterminate
period of time. Spouse’s college friend (now a liberal and college instructor) announced she’ll be visiting over the 4th of July. We live
in a booming vacation destination so of course she’s coming here
(again). Last year I was just able to control my anger listening to her
socialist nonsense. This year it’s going to be FOX Business News in
the morning, Rush at 9am and Laura Ingraham after dinner. That might
end the annual invasions.

One solution is to just put on the channel that MOST people watch.
Fox (#1) wins hands down. CNN is only #10, on a good week.

FOX and Disney merged. Six corporations own and control all MSM. FOX News has changed, and I believe will continue to become more liberal. I will watch Tucker until he's gone but that's about it.

I sympathize, #11. The lady of the house and I always have a cover story ready when somebody suddenly announces that they intend to disturb our peace and quiet over a holiday with an imposed visit. We agree on a location that we will be visiting in another state and will definitely NOT be home. One of these days the unwanted guest is going to suggest meeting us at our destination and then I will have to do some fast tap dancing.

Every now and then, I have to walk away from all of it to settle my nerves. I even stay away from this one, my dearly loved website. It is like shelter in the storm most days until the trolls wake up. When they stir around, I have to ''leave the room'' lest I get banned for life.

With a little luck, maybe Joe Biden will become aware of this incident and work it into his musings in tonight's second round "rebates".
If so, can we hope for a fresh gaffe involving what was playing on the wall mounted TVs in Hitler's gyms in 1929 similar to "FDR going on television to comment on the stock market crash of that year"?
Might he even be clever enough to claim it was intentional to dominate the after show chatter?

Amazing, but commonplace now. Leftists are 'blinded by hate'; they hate Trump more than they love America. They'd rather America 'go down in flames' than Trump be successful in his efforts to make America stronger, safer, more economically sound, and so on. Consumed by hate, enraged, unhinged - the 'left' in our country are in a sorry state and do not want to hear, know or acknowledge the 'truth, the facts'. What a rotten way to live.

So #11, here's the way I always handle that situation. It works astonishingly well with academics. You'll be amazed at the results.
I simply say in an off-handed way, "Because the networks all have an agenda nowadays, I figure the truth is often somewhere in the middle. So in order to gather as much information as possible I watch BOTH sides so I can make the best decisions possible." Then I follow up with a very casual, "Don't you?" or "I'm sure you do as well..."And then I usually say, "So this is my week to watch FOX. I'm sure you don't mind."
Intellectuals do NOT want to be seen as fact-averse. So they acquiesce and many times we end up having thoughtful discussions. At the very least, I know they've been exposed to something they never otherwise would've seen!

If you look at Fox News regularly you realize that they are not propagandizing. They are giving you the information that is concealed or overlooked by the MSM. They do not tell you that Donald Trump is actually an archangel and that Nancy Pelosi is an illegitimate daughter of Beelzebub. They tell you that Hillary Clinton supported the Uranium 1 deal and that Bill received 500K in speaking fees from Russia. They tell you that Hillary and the DNC paid for the Steele dossier, etc. etc. This is not propaganda. You could say that the MSM 'slants' the news by not revealing all of it. Tucker, Sean, and Laura tend to principally give you the news that the MSM omits. You can call that a slant if you wish to, but it's not propaganda.

"Political discourse in America feels more divided, angry, and stressful than most of us can remember."
Actually, I think there is, in general, less discourse if you consider it discussion. Most Conservatives don't want to waste our time talking with hysterical liberals so we keep our opinions to ourselves. The division, anger, and stress is all coming from the left who want to rant. Further, their rants are information free and completely emotional. "Trump is horrible" they say. What specifically has he done that you are upset with? Either there is just anger in being questioned or another broad statement is issued. "Trump hates immigrants." Why do you say that? Usually more anger ensues and something like "He wants to build a wall.". Why does building a wall to control illegal immigration mean he hates immigrants? Then you get "They are not illegal!". They came into the country without permission, that's illegal. By this point their faces are red and they are furious. The Conservative trying to have a conversation gives up. They may be saddened and frustrated but not angry. They recognize the division but are not creating it. They are not particularly stressed because they don't take it personally. The liberal on the other hand DOES take it personally, is ANGRY, and STRESSED.
I wonder if Trump wins in a landslide that the liberals are going to jump the tracks?

If you read the entire article, the author concludes that we shouldn't even request that Fox News be shown in public spaces. We should simply walk away. Umm, no thanks. If we don't stand up and fight for fair and equal treatment in public spaces, the other side won't back down. They never do and never had. In fact, they're counting on our acquiesence and apathy. If Trump has taught us one thing, it's that we must fight the good fight.

CNN has a contract with all major airports. Perhaps this is where their viewership comes from? Otherwise, I haven't a clue

I used to endure CNN an pMSNBC at the local 24 hr. gym until I learned I could ask for a TV to be turned to a program I want to watch. In that gym, the first one there gets the choice.
Mostly, I observe that I see more of CNN and pMSNBC, et. al. on Fox than I would Fox on the others.
Recently, w/o anyone asking, a black 24 hr. employee, with dreadlocks, tried to turn the Fox TV to pMSNBC w/o anyone asking. I yelled at him to turn it back, and when he did, I thanked him, and a woman behind me also thanked him. He ignored us.
Recently, FOX is already on a TV at the gym. It used to never be on. I'd say that's an improvement.
