Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour sold over 120 of his guitars for a charity that combats climate change. According to NBC News, the former frontman’s auction raked in $21.5 million, all of which will be donated to ClientEarth, a nonprofit environmental law organization that prides itself on using the law to "combat climate change” and “defend habitats and wildlife," according to its Facebook page. Gilmour tweeted about his decision to sell the guitars on Friday, writing, “The choice really is that simple, and I hope that the sale of these guitars will help ClientEarth in their cause to use the law to bring about real change.”

Comments:

To combat climate change?? He fell for Gore's BS guilt trip. Mankind has little to nothing to do with the climate. What a beastly waste. Whoever buys Gilmour's guitars won't ever play them as well as he did. The old record guitar price was $2M, paid by Kirk Hammett of Metallica, for Peter Green's (Fleetwood Mac leader, 1967-1970) 1959 Les Paul Standard with the upside down humbucker and reversed magnet.

FORT MEADE -- Sheriff's deputies are investigating after an alligator was discovered with its jaws on a man's body. The site was near an old phosphate mine off Peeples Road. The Polk Sheriff's Office got the call from a supervisor at phosphate mining company Mosaic around 7:45 Thursday morning. They found the dead man in a canal after someone spotted both the body and the gator. The sheriff's office says the creature "disengaged" when they arrived. State FWC agents shot and killed the alligator. Deputies say they don't know what caused the man's death, and won't say until the medical examiner finishes

When the US launched cyberstrikes at Iran's missile control systems in response to an Iranian shoot down of a US drone near the Gulf of Oman, it surprised pundits. Donald Trump was widely expected by the press to bomb something in return. The political left was unprepared for the possibility that Trump would not run true to their stereotype. The Gulf of Oman was already being compared to the Gulf of Tonkin. "From the U.S.S. Maine in Havana Harbor in 1898 to the U.S.S. Chicago police released hundreds of files and nearly 70 hours of video footage on Monday from the investigation into Jussie Smollett's claim back in January that he was attacked by two men -- a claim that police later characterized as a hoax. In one of the videos, police body-cam footage showed Smollett -- with his face blurred -- wearing a white rope that he told detectives his attackers looped around his neck. When one of the officers asked Smollett if he wanted to take the rope off of his neck, the 37-year-old actor did while stating: "Yeah. I do. I just wanted you all to see it."

The Trump administration's willingness to take on Iran, China and Russia -- in the economic and diplomatic sphere at least -- raises the question of whether even low-intensity conflict can eventually lead to a crisis. The apparent abolition of war in our globalized world has been replaced by what Austin Bay called in his book Cocktails from Hell "a hazardous form of peace". The danger is that such conflicts may boil over. The first flashpoint may be Iran. (Snip) The shootdown, which occurred near the Gulf of Hormuz, close to where a number of tankers were recently attacked, comes on the heels of increasing U.S. economic sanctions on Iran.

San Diego County Superior Court Judge Blaine Bowman said the jurors were “hopelessly deadlocked” as he announced the mistrial. By varying counts, the jury favored conviction on the eight remaining charges but could not agree unanimously as required by California law. A retrial on those eight charges is expected later this year. The mistrial came a day after the jury announced it had found Winslow guilty of three of
