Our Orlando Sentinel endorsement for
president in 2020: Not Donald Trump

Original Article

Posted By: cThree, 6/18/2019 3:47:41 PM

Donald Trump is in Orlando to announce the kickoff of his re-election campaign. We’re here to announce our endorsement for president in 2020, or, at least, who we’re not endorsing: Donald Trump. Some readers will wonder how we could possibly eliminate a candidate so far before an election, and before knowing the identity of his opponent. Because there’s no point pretending we would ever recommend that readers vote for Trump. After 2½ years we’ve seen enough.

If I could, I'd make sure everyone who's at PDT's rally in Orlando is informed that The Orlando Sentinel is a partisan Left rag, and to cancel their subscription to it. It sure seems like almost everyone in Orlando is at the rally.

"We've seen enough"? Really? The rest is a laundry list of talking points obviously read aloud to them because their eyes have been shut tight. Today Orlando is the host venue for the President's 2020 launch. Orlando has chosen this day to dump its brainless NeverTrump bile. I'd like to know what brilliant business planner for the paper made that decision. I'd suggest they keep their resume handy for the next round of downsizing

A very dishonest account--ironic, since it complains about "lies." Most of those "lies" are either opinion or something that might be true--for example, the effect of illegal voting on the popular vote. Who can verify that one way or another? Also, that the stock market was up 56% under Obama. Yeah, from the 2007 crash but nowhere near its previous heights. The markets now are at an all time high. Why wasn't that mentioned? And excusing the wasteful "stimulus" under Obama that did absolutely nothing to stimulate the economy, which remained stagnant for all 8 years of O's administration. And the worst lie of all--that they are open to supporting Republican candidates, which is belied by their support for John Kerry over Bush in 2004. 2004 was before Bush lost his base. No "neutral" news outlet would have chosen Kerry over Bush at that point.

After three paragraphs of favorable comparison of the false prophet in terms of the S&P 500, unemployment, the GDP, and deficit spending we get this: As recently as 2012 we recommended Republican Mitt Romney because of what seemed at the time to be Obama's failure to adequately manage the nation's finances. The more hysterical and irrational the left gets over President Trump the more convinced I am of how disruptive and revolutionary he really is. He is a man with a vision and the conviction to lay it all out and let his enemies be damned. He may ultimately not achieve all his goals but no one can deny his commitment, both personal and public, to leaving it all on the field and letting history be his judge. He is not polished or a great orator of tired platitudes but a pragmatist who prepared for 30 years for the battles he knew he would have to fight every minute of his presidency. He is the Randle McMurphy of American politics raging against the Nurse Ratchets of political convention and carefully controlled photo-op fakery. The jury is still out regarding his ultimate success with the economy, trade policy, illegal immigration, denuclearization of North Korea and Iran, and other MAGA promises but no editor or pundit can deny he is by far the only real leader in the Presidential race regardless of party.

The first round of statewide school test results from this school year are in, and they show that North Carolina students aren’t doing as well as they did before the coronavirus pandemic. Test results that will be shared at Wednesday’s State Board of Education meeting show that the majority of high school students did not pass state end-of-course exams given in the fall. The passing rates are also sharply lower on most of those exams than the prior fall, but the state Department of Public Instruction is cautioning against comparing the results.

There’s something unattractive about a mature woman marrying into the British Royal family with one of the world’s most expensive weddings, hanging out with the Queen, living in insane luxury…and then whining non-stop about the horror of her life. There’s something even less appealing when that woman accuses the Royal family of race hatred. After weeks of hype, CBS finally televised Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah.
