The Illinois Senate has approved a sweeping abortion rights bill. The 34 – 20 vote comes amid a time when several other states have passed laws essentially banning the practice. The bill establishes a woman’s “fundamental right” to an abortion… and states that “a fertilized egg, embryo or fetus does not have independent rights.” It also repeals the Illinois abortion law of 1975, eliminating spousal consent, waiting periods, criminal penalties for abortion providers and restrictions on abortion facilities. The bill now heads to Governor Pritzker. He campaigned on a promise to make Illinois the most progressive state in the country for reproductive rights.

So, Illinois, already strapped for cash and in a death spiral, decides to take the BRILLIANT step of making it even EASIER for the irresponsible poor to live there. That measure also pretty much ensures that there will be FEWER Illinois residents to support the next generation's retirements. Brilliant. Don't think for a moment that this kind of evil will end up reaping anything other than judgment and condemnation.

Maybe it should go even further and allow abortion up to the age of 18. After all, a mother doesn't really know what kind of fetus she has until it's lived a few years and developed its personality!

So, their 1975 law allowing abortion wasn't good enough, they had to up-the-ante and make it 2019, huh? Sort of, you want abortion, we'll give you abortion!

With this law, and all the black-on-black shootings, the legislator that said if you don't abort them, you'll kill them in prison anyway, was very cognitive!

American blacks are evidently bent on self-immolation, as #9 notes. Media can trot out a billion faux Ozzie and Harriet D'Shaunta's in sitcoms and commercials but the truth appears to be they're self-destructing in plain sight for all to see. Odd, really; what else can be handed over to them before they eventually wise up?

No spousal consent. If I were a man and my wife aborted my child against my will, I would be in divorce court before she even exited the abortuary.

A British judge ordered Friday that an abortion be performed on a mentally disabled woman who is 22 weeks pregnant, despite objections from the woman and her mother. Justice Nathalie Lieven admits in the ruling of the “heartbreaking” case that it’s an “immense intrusion” to order the abortion against the woman’s will, but argued that it’s in the best interest of the woman.“I am acutely conscious of the fact that for the State to order a woman to have a termination where it appears that she doesn't want it is an immense intrusion,” the justice said. “I have to operate in [her] best interests, not on society's views of termination."

In January 1942, 11 Naval nurses and one Filipino nurse were taken prisoner by the Japanese. They spent nearly three years as POW’s in concentration camps where they continued to nurse the sick and injured. They were never formally recognized by the U.S. government as heroes. But to the men they cared for, their service will never be forgotten. The nurses became to be known as the 12 Anchors. Their selfless service never stopped. All of the nurses received the Bronze Star and a Prisoner of War medal. WGN’s Marcella Raymond has their story.

A proposed hike in Illinois´ annual registration fee for electric vehicles, from $17.50 to $1,000, is being called unfair by current EV owners, and a sales disincentive by manufacturers - just as the new technology is beginning to gain broader traction. "It´s outrageous," said Nicoletta Skarlatos, 56, of Chicago, who bought a Tesla Model S five years ago. "I thought Illinois was progressive and would want to encourage EV ownership." Aimed at raising money to make overdue road improvements across Illinois, the proposed legislation would also more than double the state´s gas tax to 44 cents a gallon, and raise

With the support of labor unions, a new bill prohibiting municipalities in the state from enacting “right-to-work laws” was signed into law by Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker last week. The “Collective Bargaining Freedom Act” prohibits local right-to-work ordinances and imposes penalties for violations. Right-to-work laws became a focus for state lawmakers after the village of Lincolnshire, a northern suburb of Chicago, passed one in 2015. A federal court later overturned the ordinance. Right-to-work laws prohibit union contracts from requiring all workers to either join a union or pay dues.
