California is the country’s wealthiest and most highly taxed state, but its politicians have utterly failed to tackle the state’s most basic problem: homelessness. Estimates place California's homeless population at close to 130,000. To grasp the magnitude of that figure, imagine the entire population of New Haven, Connecticut or Charleston, South Carolina living on the streets.
Much has been written about the problems of feces on San Francisco’s streets and needles on the streets in downtown Los Angeles. But the problem has expanded far beyond those cities. It has now reached virtually all parts of the state, including, according to reports, the state’s water.

There's your solution. Let them set up their boats in a big marina and then cut all the mooring lines in the middle of the night. They can live their dream over in Tahiti.

It is not a homeless problem - it is a drug problem, that has been magnified by the phony compassion of liberals. It is not compassionate or caring to be an enabler allowing someone to continue to stay drug addicted. It is like the mother who sneaks cash to their drug addicted child, to get a hug and feel loved, which makes her feel better.
Watch the KOMO documentary on Seattle's homeless, "Seattle is Dying".

Exactly, OP, it's 'out of control' because it's tolerated, pure and simple. Guess vagrancy laws are too old-fashioned for this century.

We have plenty of vagrancy laws, however our police are not allowed to enforce them due to the fact they have turned officers into uniformed social workers. Its the end-game for Cloward-Priven. Every state already has this disease, we're just at stage 5. If my state cannot be a good example, at least its a horrible warning for the rest of the country.
MAGA - It must include all 50 states. We've got a lot of work to do.

To expect calls California politicians to do something about this is futile. To expect California voters to punish them for doing nothing about it is ludicrous

It astounds me that the taxpayers living in California continue to vote for these liberal knuckle-headed politicians to their own demise. I don't even live there and it angers me that the politicians "solutions" are only certain to increase the problem! And taxpayers have skin in this game. Why do they double-down and keep re-electing these jackasses?

More illegals will help that situation.

Vagrancy laws were written for good reasons. Dems destroy everything when they are in charge.
Touch de merde is an actual skill that they have perfected. Everything covered with feces.
Diseases running rampant, cholera and such are coming.

This whole 'mess' is the legacy of years of democrat leadership. When you hear of homelessness, feces on the street, open drug dealing and using, you think of democrats.

Yet, the root of all this homelessness is drugs. Isn't it ironic that all these ''poor'' homeless people have made the drug cartels incredibly rich? Why do politicians, especially democrats, tolerate the drug problem? Answer: Power and money!
Poor, homeless, dependent people will vote for the politicians that will give them handouts. Food, money, and lack of law enforcement. Threats of having it all taken away by the heartless Republicans.
Democrats don't know about tough love. Just look at their spoiled children (the ones that survive to birth!)

I've lived in CA my whole life (a long time) so I've seen, first hand, the demise of this fine state. When the 2018 election saw Orange County, CA, a one time devout conservative county, loose five districts to the liberals, I knew there was only one answer: illegal voting, by illegals or otherwise.
The liberals invented a voting rule called “Vote Canvassing” whereby volunteers go door to door looking for people who haven’t voted, and “volunteer” to take their ballot and fill it out for them. Some, days after the election ended. Adding insult to injury, a lot of the “volunteers” were illegal aliens. When the libs are in charge and making the rules how can you fight them? Who’s going to listen? When the libs register people to vote, illegals included, at the DMV guess where those votes go.
I truly believe there are a lot more conservative minded people living in CA than the voting records show. Some, like my son, say “what's the use”. They (not me though) have lost the will to vote. Also, the libs know they only need one more vote than we do and they know where to find it.

Why is it that the more liberal and compassionate an area is, the worse their homeless problem is?

It’s not just boats. Friends of mine are in the process of moving TO California, and the tell me travel trailers are everywhere on the streets. The only affordable housing.
