Woodstock 50 – scheduled to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the legendary music festival – has been canceled. Although the all-star lineup – featuring Jay-Z, Miley Cyrus, Dead & Company, the Raconteurs and dozens more, including acts from the original Woodstock fest – was announced in early March, tickets for the festival did not go on sale; a planned Earth Day on-sale in April was postponed due to reported permit issues. However, on Monday, Dentsu, one of the festival’s main investment arm, announced that Woodstock 50, organized in part by Woodstock co-founder Michael Lang, would not proceed. “It’s a dream for

GOOD. Leave it in the history of days gone by. You don´t have the same artists and the free love mood would be replaced with hate.

One of our 17-year-old granddaughters has a Frank Zappa bumper sticker on her car. I asked her if she even know any of his music and she reeled off several hits. She would have loved to attend Woodstock 50.

If the first one had been canceled, our society would be much better off.

Most of the original attendees are ago 70 or so now and, if still living, may not be well-suited for another weekend in mud and rain. It´s much easier to just download the music to an I-pod these days.

Good news leave Woodstock in 1969. I don´t think I could take AXS TV replaying the likes of Miley Cyrus on a hate Trump rant while grinding herself on stage and some untalented rapper dropping the F-bomb about the President. The world is better off without this 50 anniversary celebration.
I would enjoy seeing Pete Townsend knocking the activist Abbe Hoffman off the stage with his guitar when Hoffman jumped up onto the stage to rant during the Who´s performance.

I prefer to carry the memory of great creative music and tuck the moral decay aspect away. The 50 year event would simply be the moral decay without the great visceral authentic real music the likes of which sprung out of garages in our communities, not corporate factory productions.

Woodstock represents the ultimate in moral decay that has destroyed our country.
They were a bunch of teenagers and young adults rebelling against the morals and values of their parents and grandparents that made this country great. Free love, drugged out spoiled babies.
This is the generation that infiltrated Congress, our educational system, colleges and corporate offices that have systematically indoctrinated the youth of our country to their way of thinking, lowering every academic and moral standard along the way.
Good riddance! The 50th anniversary would have been a celebration of all they accomplished. It´s certainly not something to be celebrated.

Maybe they could just do a sanitized TV special, with Pat Boone singing ´Crazy Train´.

Maybe they could have Lenny Kravits play the National Anthem. It would be a LOT better than that left-handed guy that did it at Woodstock.

I was coming back from a camping trip in the Saratoga NY area on the New York State Thruway going back to NYC the day the festival was over. It took about 4 hours to get to the George Washington Bridge from Albany NY. We just crawled along all the way down. At the time I had no idea why we were going so slow till I found a station that was strong enough for my pickup to get any info of what was going on. After that trip I cursed that every time it is mentioned. Even the shoulders of the thru way were lined up with autos and semis all the way to the bridge.

I´m an unabashed lover of classic rock. I too would love to see Pete Townshend whack some antifa type with his guitar. Jay-Z at Woodstock? No way, man.

Somehow, a porky rapper, loaded with bling, wearing shades and a sideways cap, rappin´ about "bitches n´ ho´s," is going to have the same affect as hearing any of those rockin´ dudes from the 60´s.

No. Just no. Musically speaking, Woodstock was epic. The “artists” of today, and the garbage they put out, cannot hold a candle to the music legends of the 60s.

Woodstock did more to destroy the moral compass of the United Stets. We are still paying for all the drug induced hippies and pregnancies brought on by the drug, sex and rock and roll culture.

While I just can´t imagine how gross and unsanitary it was to be there (with the rain, mud, human wastes, etc -- but at least the massive cloud of pot smoke would have masked the smells of unwashed hippies), I remember the total amount of incredible talent that played at the original Woodstock!!! Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane, Santana, CCR, Joan Baez, The Band, etc, etc, etc!!! Heck, even Sha-Na-Na was way more talented than most bands today!!!
If Jay-Z and Miley Cyrus would have been your "big name headliners" at Woodstock 50, that would have proven without doubt to everyone just how much popular music long ago was flushed down a proverbial toilet and only the specs of putrid poop is left clinging to the rim as "pop music" in the 21st century!!!!!

Don´t disparage all of the artists that were slated to perform for not making real music. There were a number of artists on the list whose music is as real as it gets. I wouldn´t be a fan of them otherwise.
Some of the talented younger artists that actually write their own songs, have superb vocals without auto-tune, play real instruments, and can cover favorite older tunes with an exceptional and pleasing freshness are bringing back sounds of the sixties with a modern update and doing an exceptional job. They deserve to be supported.
One such young artist who was listed on the line-up for Woodstock 50 is Anderson East. He and his band are tremendously talented, and put on a truly exceptional live show. He is a very good songwriter and is gifted with an extraordinary, wonderful voice that can take you back in time.
Although I don´t agree with her politically (didn´t agree with most at the original Woodstock either), Brandi Carlile is an artist who also knows how to write very good songs and has a beautiful voice.
I agree with all who love real music. You can check these artists out at YouTube along with many others who are not letting real music die.

The real reason is the expected added expense of building all the wheelchair ramps and renting hundreds more Porta Potty stalls. Then there´s be the increased sheriff´s personnel to separate the medical marijuana users from the casual tokers. Tough, huh?

Aw, bummer. I was planning to rent a 1960 vintage VW microbus and make a pilgrimage. Well, actually, I wasn´t. I just like saying that.
The original Woodstock music festival a half century ago at Max Yasgur´s upstate New York farm was a one time thing, not to be repeated. Some good music was made there. The brown (non-Owsley) acid was bad.
