Only once did I sit in a medium-sized room with Barack Obama. It was May 19, 2006, and the then-senator was speaking at a BookExpo America breakfast to promote his book The Audacity of Hope. He warmed up by noting that some people were cynical about politics. “At best we just hope it does us no harm,” he said, which was true enough. But then he kept going. There has always been this other idea, and the idea can be described very simply. The notion that we all have a stake in each other, and that my success

Beto is Obama without the smoothness. Plus he has a history which, of course the media will not report on. He will woo the snowflakes and not much else.
I would love seeing Trump take him apart in a debate.

"the great Beto O’Rourke Show is simply a tired rerun"
Well, yes. Let´s extend the comparison? WHAT did BO do for the Country? What did he accomplish?
Was the economy running gangbusters? No.
Was "JV" ISIS managed? No.
Was there peace in the world? No.
Were we energy secure? No.
Did racial relations improve? No.
Did minorities improve their lives? No.
Was immigration managed? No.
Did we have a corrupt IRS, DOJ, FBI, and Intelligence services? Yes.
BO had honeyed words as well. He accomplished nothing and set the Country back in many ways.
The original was bad enough. Beto is a watered down echo.

"opportunity must be shared with all”
Sure, I don´t mind sharing opportunity, it´s the results of what I create with my opportunity that I don´t like to spread around to parasites and deadbeats. The article brings back the sick, twisted but smoothly tailored nonsense that Obama used to spout all the time as he twisted the knife.
Kyle Smith is wise beyond his years.

Beto’s track record of petty crimes, recreational drug use, a DUI, leaving the scene of a bad traffic accident, and profound self-approbation is indeed analogous to Obama’s hitch in the choom gang, occasional cocaine use, hazy connections to a pornographer (Frank Davis) and a domestic terrorist (William Ayers), and profound self-approbation. They each rely on fostering a cult of personality about himself even as they need to invent personalities which they don’t possess.
Voters were gullible in Obama’s case as he benefitted from campaigns against astoundingly weak competition: McCain and Romney. Beto, on the other hand, lost a Senate campaign to a candidate (Ted Cruz) who registers on the voter funmeter somewhere between homework and German measles. That was a bad loss for a guy who needs to count on his personal charm to win elections.
I agree with the author. Beto is an empty suit whose attempts to follow the Obama playbook will fail. Second acts are tough under the best conditions and Beto is not a strong enough actor to carry a crappy script.

Bobby O´Rourke os as lightweight a candidate as can be imagined.
The problem is lightweight voters, some of whom will buy his fake Mexican status, others who will be focused on government freebies. Mainstream media will focus on the age difference between Bobby and DJT.
And to too many voters, accomplishments mean nothing.

Just think if Trump was Twitterless, didn´t pick fights, and had Obama´s melodious, black church-learned cadence, in addition to the good things he has accomplished in his short tenure as President. I wonder what the dems would find to criticize him for.

Beto the bone head O´Rourke will still fake out a good majority of the left with his Obama like platitudes it´s what they want to hear.
It´s a new world out there and ´twitter´ is the go place to get your message out. President Trump though older uses twitter like a master.
Like in the days of old I never sat still for once to listen to the droning voice of Obama so the same will be with this jerk weed, flap jack, bloviating moron.

Good column, though I disagree with Obola´s speech making skills. I found it to be like fingernails on a blackboard. All the ahs, and ums. All old news now, though.
He was elected because of his pigmentation, not speeches.

I think that 0bama was quite successful in his one and only (never stated) goal which was to divide the country pitting one group against another. Accomplishing this goal was preparation for Hillary to complete the plan - the destruction of the country.
Power and money are the gods of the left. I thank our Lord every day that He saw fit to prevent her from getting into the Oval Office; we dodged a WMD of massive proportions.

Of course he is no Obama. He doesn´t have the kinky hair, big ears, horse teeth, broad flat nose or black color. And he is able to speak without a teleprompter.

Hell, obama was fauxbama. There was not a single genuine thing about him except those freakishly ginormous, Dumbo ears flapping in the breeze. Robert Francis O´Rourke, Fauxcahontas, the sexual deviant from Indiana.
I swear, The Collective must grow these freaks in some sort of National Socialist lab in Outer Slobboviastan.

The current dem pols each seem to be radical socialists who can´t be themselves or they would never be elected in America so they all instead present a fabricated facade to the public. Today the theatrical illusionist dem party personifies The Portrate Of Dorian Gray. ...Under their phony smiling front is the ugly truth that they are full of hate, not love.

"Beto" O´Rourke is nothing more than a floppy-haired little boy. He´ll get the millennial vote because they think it´s "cool" that he skateboards across a stage and jumps up on restaurant countertops, but that´s about it.
In the meantime he´s accomplished absolutely nothing (other than an occasional run-in with law enforcement), and much like Obongo, takes 25 minutes to answer a simple yes/no question and says absolutely nothing.
He is phony and a fraud. He needs to go home and grow up and think about actually accomplishing something. "Beto" as Commander in Chief? You´ve got to be kidding.

Don’t be surprised if the Democrats, who will be talking down the economy during the run up to the 2020 election don’t come up with a manufactured financial crisis of some sort, usually of their own making, right before the election, as they did to the incompetent G.W. Bush who would not even defend his own personal and professional reputations from constant liberal Democrat attack, and the marginal Republican candidate John McCain, that helped Barack Obama get into the White House.

The Easter Bunny Party needs a buck-toothed rodent like "Beto".
The franchise should be returned to white ,male land owners with military service and further restricted to those who own more than one chainsaw and who can plow a straight row.........and do.
