With each new revelation about former Special Counsel Jack Smith, who apparently would do anything to bring down Trump with his classified documents and election interference cases, the sordid tale just gets dirtier and dirtier. He was accused in the fall of 2025 of violating the rights of lawmakers by secretly subpoenaing their phone records, and earlier in July, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) alleged that Smith and his team violated classified document handling procedures — even as they were investigating Trump for exactly that crime.
