As July begins, Virginians brace for higher gas taxes, hoping that the $68 price of a barrel of crude oil will start to bring the price at the pump back down. Further proof that if somebody like Spanberger can qualify to work for the CIA, they will take just about anybody. This woman is backwards on everything that matters to people.

I don’t really blame Spunkberger-she’s a hack and just doing what she is told. I blame my fellow registered Republicans who did not vote last November. They screwed over the entire state.

Shouldn't complain, here 8% increase every year is the norm. Cap and trade is the biggest scam ever. When they are paying over 40 cents then you will know our pain and no I never voted for any of it.

The Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding tells Iran that Hezbollah survives and Israel leaves. The Trilateral Framework says that Hezbollah disarms and that, until it does, Israel stays in Lebanon. The negotiations with Iran were led by Vice President JD Vance, who never wanted this war and made no secret of his wish to end it cheaply. He produced the Islamabad MOU, the paper Iran's regime wanted to hear. The Trilateral Framework was created by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who has spent his career treating Iran's proxy network as a threat to be dismantled rather than soothed.

President Trump will take his new Air Force One for its first flight on Wednesday when he heads to North Dakota to open the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library. The trip is part of the nation’s 250th birthday celebrations. The president will also take a train ride, boarding the BNSF Freedom 250 Train as part of the journey to the library site. A ceremonial Rough Riders Troop will accompany the presidential motorcade to the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library. The group on horseback will evoke the legacy of Theodore Roosevelt and the volunteer cavalry regiment that helped define his public image, a White House official told The Post.

The Department of Justice has taken a big, if somewhat unheralded, step to reverse the trend of deinstitutionalization of the mentally ill in America. Earlier in June, the DOJ’s Office of Legal Counsel announced in a memorandum that it would update its treatment of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The section of a law passed by Congress in 1973 prohibited discrimination based on disability by “any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.” Following the 1999 Supreme Court case Olmstead v. L.C.,

Of 257 Democrats in Congress, just 15 were willing to sign onto a coalition to combat rising socialism and communism. As part of their “Promise to America,” the 15 Democrats declare (among other things): “We are capitalist, not socialist,” “We want safety, not lawlessness,” “We are proud, not ashamed of America.” In other words, more than 90% of congressional Democrats declined to sign onto a statement opposing socialism, at a time when Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) candidates are surging. Yet rather than mount a group effort to stop the growing rise of socialism, most Democrats appear to have no problem with it.

The poll, taken from May 26 through May 28, has a +/-2.7 percentage point margin of error. But there might be an asterisk on the poll, at least as far as the demographic breakdown goes. For instance, as a matter of politics, one group is far more proud to be American than others: Republicans. They tip the scale at 89% proud vs. just 9% not proud. Democrats are least proud (but still a majority): 62% proud, 36% not proud. Independents are slightly more: 64% proud, 29% not proud. What’s behind this? The real dividing line isn’t party affiliation, but ideology. Among those who describe themselves as “conservative,”

The Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that states can bar transgender female competitors from playing girls’ sports in a landmark decision with major implications for more than half the country, where such policies are in place. In a 6-3 opinion, the high court determined that neither Idaho nor West Virginia had violated the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment with their bans, as well as that Title IX allowed states to separate sports teams on the basis of biological sex. But the majority opinion by conservative Justice Brett Kavanaugh also underscored the importance of treating transgender athletes with respect.

President Trump is seizing on a series of far-left wins in Democratic primaries to paint the opposition party as dangerous “communists” about four months out from midterm elections. The president has never shied away from painting Democrats as far left, but his recent messaging gives Republicans an amped-up blueprint for capitalizing on the progressive left becoming an insurgent force across the country.“They use the word social democrat because it sounds so nice, but it’s really communism you’re talking about,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Monday when asked about the growing list of left-wing primary wins.

The Supreme Court Has Weakened The Regulatory State 5 replies

In Trump v. Slaughter, published yesterday, the Supreme Court held that the President has plenary (that is, unfettered) authority to fire the heads of regulatory agencies (though not the governors of the Federal Reserve Board, as explained in a note at the end of this post). The decision is hugely consequential. It is both a massive blow to the regulatory state and a huge—albeit precarious—step to returning our nation to function as the Constitution intended. For over a century, ever since President Woodrow Wilson ushered in the “progressive era,” Congress has been creating “independent” agencies that have complete power to write regulations with the force and effect of law,

When Emanuel Macron was first elected French president nearly a decade ago, he looked like the prototype of Europe’s next generation of leaders: young, reform-minded, pro-market, pro-European, strategic, not clearly on the right or the left. Macron is still ambitious internationally, but at home he is term limited, with falling approval levels, and looking increasingly like the last remaining champion of Europe’s battered liberal center. U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer has resigned amid populist pressure at home. In Germany, Chancellor Friedrich Merz is struggling as the country’s right wing strengthens. Giorgia Meloni of Italy, who heads Europe’s most stable government in a major country, comes from the right. And in Spain,

Justice Clarence Thomas, in a lengthy dissent, took the majority to task for interpreting the Constitution to mean that citizenship is automatically conferred on anyone born in the United States, regardless of the legal status of the parents. Thomas argued that the ruling “devalues” what it means to be an American citizen. In a 6-3 decision on Tuesday, the majority held that an executive order President Donald Trump issued on the first day of his second term violated the Constitution. The order directed that only children born on American soil to legal residents are automatically citizens of the United States. The Fourteenth Amendment states, in part, “All persons born or naturalized in

The Supreme Court is expected to rule Tuesday in Trump v. Barbara, a high-stakes challenge to President Donald Trump's 2025 executive order that seeks to restrict automatic birthright citizenship under the 14th Amendment for children of illegal immigrants and temporary visa holders. In the event the court rules against Trump, a number of Congressional Republicans have legislation pending that could practically accomplish what a different ruling would have done. "American citizenship is a priceless privilege that must be protected, not exploited. We must restore integrity to our immigration system, uphold the rule of law, and protect the value of American citizenship for generations to come,"

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Tuesday blocked President Donald Trump’s contentious attempt to limit citizenship at birth for those born on U.S. soil, delivering a major blow to his agenda. The court, divided 6-3, ruled that the executive order Trump issued Jan. 20, 2025, the first day of his second term, was unlawful. Five justices said the order fell foul of the Constitution’s 14th Amendment, which has long been interpreted to bestow birthright citizenship on almost anyone born in the United States.

The Supreme Court announced its final opinions of the term today, covering some of the most high-profile issues of the term. BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP: The court rejected President Donald Trump's executive order ending citizenship at birth for people born on U.S. soil. The court ruled that the executive order ran foul of the Constitution’s 14th Amendment, which has long been interpreted to bestow birthright citizenship on almost anyone born in the United States. TRANSGENDER ATHLETES: The high court, in a ruling that combined two cases, upheld state laws that ban transgender athletes from participating in girls’ and women’s sports. Two student athletes in West Virginia and Idaho sued to overturn the bans.

But she sided with Chief Justice John Roberts, also a Republican appointee, and the Court's three liberals to overrule the dissent of justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito and Neil Gorsuch. Justice Brett Kavanaugh, Trump's second appointee, concurred with the judgment but disagreed with the majority's argument. Congressional conservatives are slamming the Supreme Court of the United States after it ruled to strike down a request from the president to redefine birthright citizenship. The 6-3 decision comes after President Donald Trump’s administration argued that the birthright citizenship clause of the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution applied to descendants of slaves in the 1800s, and not to the chain migration the United States has been subject to in recent decades. Chief Justice John Roberts delivered the opinion of the Court, joined by Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, Amy Coney Barrett, and Ketanji Brown Jackson. Brett Kavanaugh concurs in part in the judgment and dissents in part.
