The Supreme Court ruled on Tuesday in a 6-3 decision that federal limits on how much political parties can spend in coordination with their candidates violate the First Amendment, delivering a major victory for free speech and party operations and for Republicans. It should have an impact on the 2026 midterm elections.
In National Republican Senatorial Committee v. FEC, the justices overturned the 2001 Colorado II precedent, clearing the way for unlimited coordinated spending by parties. The ruling is expected to reshape the 2026 midterm battlefield by empowering official party committees over super PACs.

Monday on MS NOW’s “The Last Word,” Rep. Madeleine Dean (D-PA) claimed Secretary of State Marco Rubio cut off her mic and called her question stupid during a congressional briefing on Iran.
Dean said, “We had a conference call. It was not a classified call with, Secretary Rubio and Mr. Wyckoff. And it was bipartisan members of Congress, a House, members, Republicans, Democrats. Mr. Rubio gave a very brief opening, just talking about the, the shots back and forth over the course of the last four days, then sent it open to questions. We didn’t learn much of anything. I have to be very, very honest with you.

WASHINGTON – States can ban transgender women and girls from competing on female sports teams, the Supreme Court ruled June 30 in addressing a major cultural and political flashpoint before adjourning for the summer.
The decision is another setback for the LGBTQ+ community from the high court, which has issued a series of recent rulings against transgender Americans. The court said West Virginia's and Idaho’s bans on female transgender athletes do not violate either the Constitution or a federal law barring sex discrimination in education.

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Tuesday blocked President Donald Trump’s contentious attempt to limit citizenship at birth for those born on U.S. soil, delivering a major blow to his agenda. The court, divided 6-3, ruled that the executive order Trump issued Jan. 20, 2025, the first day of his second term, was unlawful. Five justices said the order fell foul of the Constitution’s 14th Amendment, which has long been interpreted to bestow birthright citizenship on almost anyone born in the United States.

Kyiv — Once Russian soldiers reach certain parts of the front lines of the war in Ukraine, they can expect to live an average of just 20 to 35 minutes, according to a grim estimate by Russian military bloggers, cited by Oxford historian Peter Frankopan in a Foreign Policy report. CBS News has not independently verified the claim. But similar accounts are becoming increasingly common on Russian military channels, suggesting that more Russians are becoming aware of the war and its toll on their side — a toll Kremlin officials have long sought to shield from view.
The war has inflicted staggering losses on Russia's young men.

The U.S. and Iran have agreed to “stand down for now” and allow ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz after renewed fighting in the past few days, a U.S. official told The Hill on Sunday.
“Technical talks are slated to continue on all areas of the MOU. Both sides will stand down for now and vessels can move freely,” the official said, referring to the memorandum of understanding signed by both sides earlier this month.
The war against Iran, which started four months ago on Sunday, has stressed the global economy, raised gas prices in the U.S. and strained America’s relations with Israel and traditional European allies.

The Southern United States is growing population-wise at break-neck speed, while other areas have not experienced such a boom.
Every age group in the southern portion of the country grew faster than any other region over the course of several years, Vintage 2025 estimates showed, per the U.S. Census Bureau’s announcement Thursday:
New data released today for all counties in the United States and Puerto Rico provide a closer look at what age groups were driving the growth of U.S. counties across different stages of life: childhood (0-17), young adulthood and higher education (18-24), early work and family-building years (25-44), midlife (45-64), and retirement (65 and older).

Even in deep blue Maryland, the five county sheriffs who backed ICE, then sued the state to allow them to cooperate with federal officials, and ultimately ran for reelection on strict enforcement of immigration won their GOP primaries this week, according to poll results.
Each of these sheriffs faced challengers who ran as soft on crime and immigration but won despite political opposition to their immigration policy stances, according to the Baltimore Sun.
The Sheriffs who won their primaries include Harford County’s Jeff Gahler, Carroll County’s James T. “Jim” DeWees, Worcester County’s Matthew Crisafulli, Wicomico County’s Mike Lewis and Frederick County’s Chuck Jenkins.

truism of leftist revolutions is that the Old Guard is never sufficiently pure for the younger generation that it trained. More scarily, the younger generation is usually willing to engage in mass slaughter to carry on the pure form of the revolution, whether with or without the help of select Old Guard members willing to save their own skin by embracing the slaughter.
Right now, we’re witnessing a few in the Democrat Old Guard who suddenly feel the revolution’s claws scraping at their jugulars. We can only hope that normal Americans stop the madness before the blood really flows.

Zohran Mamdani has a plan to seize private property and take over the apartment-housing business in New York City, and it's not exactly rocket science. He even ran for office on a platform of doing so, although he didn't describe it in exactly those terms.
It's pretty simple, really, and doesn't require men with guns knocking on doors and putting landlords up against the wall, as his good friend Hasan Piker likes to fantasize about. While Piker screams on Twitch about capitalist blood and guts running in the streets, Mamdani and his housing czar, Cea Weaver, are following the tried and now true DSA method of using the existing

Gavin Newsom has, until now, opposed wealth taxes, or so-called "Billionaire" taxes.
No longer. Joining Ro Khanna, Elizabeth Warren, and the more radical left-wing in his party, he is jumping on board the crazy train, calling for an "economic reset" by seizing a fraction of the wealth—almost all of which is unrealized capital gains, and hence the ownership of companies and not actual cash money—and transferring to the government to spend on...whatever. Making the world poorer but "fairer."
While I know you think of Newsom as a Lefty-Democrat, he is the archetypal Organized Crime Democrat, who mouths

Yes, I DO know that "moderate" and "Democrat" really don't belong in the same sentence (although I continue to insist that there is a cohort of moderate Democrat voters, although very few moderate Democrat politicians of any note).
That's why I have taken to distinguishing the two factions at war in the Democratic Party as being the "Organized Crime Democrats," who use the party as a tool to grab money and power to further their own interests, and the "Bolshevik" Democrats, who want to seize everything in what amounts to a Communist, mostly bloodless coup.
The OCDs helped build up the Bolsheviks, seeing them as committed
