The song “Right Here, Right Now” by Jesus Jones opens with the line, “A woman on the radio talks about revolution, when it's already passed her by.” There are some people who peaked in high school and never got over it – never changing their hair or general style from when they were at the pinnacle of popularity. If AOC can get reelected in spite of having screwed up Amazon bringing thousands of jobs to her district, she will easily be reelected for as many decades as Pelosi. Her voters are apparently as stupid as she seems to be.

Not sure that's true. Last I heard she was at the top of the Dem's list to run for the Presidency in 2028. Sad but true. Hopefully, citizens, by then, will have realized the danger and lunacy of the DSA. I kinda doubt it, though.

#2, I think AOC, like Kommie-La-La, leads the Dem pack mainly by name recognition. I expect some "new face" to appear and entrance the hordes.

AOC lives in a liberal bubble and equates social media "likes" with political wisdom. She might beat Schumer, depending upon turnout, coupled with the fact that people are tired of him, but she is not going to last very long in the game of hardball politics. If she runs for President, she will get as many electoral votes in the primary as Kamala did.

Highmore, South Dakota, population 647 according to the 2024 census, looks like the classic, tiny American farming community. There are all of two notable facts in the Wiki entry for the wee burg - one is that it was named for its 'lofty altitude.' No further explanation for that is available other than a footnote referencing a 1908 railway guide. And that there's been a local post office in operation since 1882. Hardy souls those early folks in the high plains. Had to be tough. And I'm pretty sure it still is if the town has remained at its close-knit size. As of early yesterday morning, Highmore is going to have

On one hand, it's been somewhat amusing to watch the House Democrats who are trying so hard to distance themselves from the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) Party members who won their House primary races in New York last week, and the ones whose political futures will soon be decided in states like Colorado and Michigan. I mean, when you look at the batcrap crazy things some of them, like newly minted NY-13 Democrat nominee Darializa Avila Chevalier, have said and done over the years, one could almost understand why the purportedly "moderate" House Democrats who have signed on to a "Promise to America" letter

President Donald Trump said on Sunday that work will begin Sept. 1 on the public East Potomac Golf Course despite a federal judge's warning of "serious consequences" if the administration begins major work without getting approval and notifying the court in advance. Trump took a tour of some of the projects he has commissioned or plans to on a rainy Sunday morning. The president's motorcade swung by Lafayette Park near the White House and around Memorial Circle in front of Arlington National Cemetery, where he plans to build his 250-foot-high triumphal arch, and by the Kennedy Center, to which he had added his name before a judge ordered it removed.

Just as his party is overrun by Communist revolutionaries, former President Barack Obama has decided to take center stage in a frenetic public relations campaign, ostensibly to promote his so-called library. He’s here, there and everywhere, silkily opining about everything under the sun, except the only thing that matters: the disintegration of his party. Like Nero playing the fiddle while Rome burned, Obama is curiously detached from the disaster he helped create. Democrats desperately need a leader to rally around, but all they have is Obama. He is the only former Democratic president who is still sharp, charismatic and dynamic enough to take up the mantle. Former President Bill Clinton,

This is the age of the YOLO candidate. Are you a terrible person with a clear record of awfulness? You would be perfect for the U.S. Senate! Democrats have found just that sort of guy in Maine; Republicans have found one in Texas. Both would be perfect additions to the large and growing cast of bloviators, morons, and preening hacks that constitute what was once known as the world’s most deliberative body. Both sides justify these candidates along similar lines: “[Institution or policy] has failed [interest or faction that sees its demands as indistinguishable from the national interest]. A Utah judge in the case against the man accused of killing Charlie Kirk ruled Friday to hold a prosecutor in civil contempt for violating a pretrial publicity order but opted to leave the death penalty in place as a possible outcome in the murder trial. The defense’s contempt motion stemmed from comments prosecutor Christopher Ballard, also a spokesperson for the Utah County Attorney’s Office, made to media outlets this spring about an inconclusive ballistics report mentioned in a defense filing. While trying to clarify the results of the report to reporters, Ballard also referenced the strength of the state’s case against Tyler Robinson – statements the judge on Friday

Britain is in even worse shape than I thought. From the Telegraph: “Air conditioning torn from homes under net zero clampdown.” Homeowners are being forced to tear out air conditioning from their private properties under climate laws, despite rising temperatures. Council planning officers ordered residents to remove air-con units over fears they produce too much carbon dioxide, stating they should only be used as a “last resort”. The net zero clampdown is part of building regulations that state “active cooling” should only ever be allowed when all other means of “passive cooling”, such as opening windows or using fans, have been exhausted. So whether you can air condition your home

The company formerly known as Dominion Voting Systems is ending a $1.3 billion defamation lawsuit against Mike Lindell, the MyPillow magnate and President Trump ally who has promoted false claims that the 2020 election was stolen. Dominion sued the businessman in 2021, alleging that Lindell knew there was no evidence to support his election conspiracy theories, but used the lies to sell pillows. When he was sued, Lindell told WCCO's Esme Murphy that he was "very happy" about the lawsuit, saying the truth would come out. In October 2025, Dominion was acquired by St. Louis-based Liberty Vote, which was founded by former Republican elections director Scott Leiendecker.

The U.S. Supreme Court voted 6–3 on June 25 to strike down a Hawaii gun law that banned residents from carrying concealed weapons in privately owned public places, such as gas stations and shopping malls. The majority opinion in Wolford v. Lopez was authored by Justice Samuel Alito. Justices Elena Kagan, Ketanji Brown Jackson, and Sonia Sotomayor dissented in the case, which was closely watched by gun rights advocates. Alito said the Second Amendment “has the same meaning in all parts of the United States.” “It cannot give way to ‘the spirit of Aloha’ in Hawaii … any more than it can yield to the spirit of the Big Apple …

The Supreme Court (SCOTUS) ruled that state laws allowing for the counting of mail-in ballots after election day are not in violation of federal law, a blow to the Republican National Committee and President Donald Trump’s administration. On Monday, SCOTUS issued a 5-4 ruling that permits states to count mail-in ballots — sent on or before election day — that are received by state election officials after election day. Justice Amy Coney Barrett wrote the majority’s opinion, joined by Chief Justice John Roberts as well as Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, and Ketanji Brown Jackson.

Monday’s bombshell Supreme Court ruling established that “election day” isn’t really election day at all; it’s a period of time. Specifically, the court decided 5-4 in Watson v. RNC that states could count mail-in ballots even if they were received after the election date, as long as they were postmarked in time. Naturally, many conservatives, including President Trump, were deeply disappointed by the decision, which to many seemed to defy common sense and the notion of election integrity. California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) and his ilk were almost certainly cheering; after all, they still haven’t certified the governor’s primary, which was held on June 2. A clown show.

After US tourists mocked France over the lack of air conditioning across the country amid 104 degree temperatures, Audrey Pulvar, deputy mayor of Paris for international relations, claimed the situation was partly America’s fault. “Dear American journalists and social media ‘influencers’: for days, some of you have been criticizing and making fun of Paris because the city does not have A/C in every room…OMG, this is so rich!” Pulvar wrote on social media. “As the second-largest emitter of greenhouse gas emissions in the world,

Trump’s lawyers argued that, as president, he should not be distracted from his executive duties in order to deal with “decades-old, false allegations.”

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Tuesday blocked President Donald Trump’s contentious attempt to limit citizenship at birth for those born on U.S. soil, delivering a major blow to his agenda. The court, divided 6-3, ruled that the executive order Trump issued Jan. 20, 2025, the first day of his second term, was unlawful. Five justices said the order fell foul of the Constitution’s 14th Amendment, which has long been interpreted to bestow birthright citizenship on almost anyone born in the United States.

The Supreme Court announced its final opinions of the term today, covering some of the most high-profile issues of the term. BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP: The court rejected President Donald Trump's executive order ending citizenship at birth for people born on U.S. soil. The court ruled that the executive order ran foul of the Constitution’s 14th Amendment, which has long been interpreted to bestow birthright citizenship on almost anyone born in the United States. TRANSGENDER ATHLETES: The high court, in a ruling that combined two cases, upheld state laws that ban transgender athletes from participating in girls’ and women’s sports. Two student athletes in West Virginia and Idaho sued to overturn the bans.

Congressional conservatives are slamming the Supreme Court of the United States after it ruled to strike down a request from the president to redefine birthright citizenship. The 6-3 decision comes after President Donald Trump’s administration argued that the birthright citizenship clause of the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution applied to descendants of slaves in the 1800s, and not to the chain migration the United States has been subject to in recent decades. Chief Justice John Roberts delivered the opinion of the Court, joined by Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, Amy Coney Barrett, and Ketanji Brown Jackson. Brett Kavanaugh concurs in part in the judgment and dissents in part.
