Major League Baseball outraged many of its fans on June 12 by warning that players who wrote Bible verses on their caps could face discipline for daring to express their beliefs. Of course, the League pushed their Pride Night hats, and although they didn’t require players to wear them, they made it clear, as they have in the past, that they're in on the rainbow but not down with expressions of faith. The League maintains that all writing on caps is prohibited, and it’s not a case of religious discrimination.

Democratic socialists are making gains in mayoral races across several of the nation’s largest cities.
The latest breakthrough came in Washington, where Janeese Lewis George won the Democratic primary and is positioned to capture the mayor’s office in November in a city dominated by Democratic voters.

Three elderly hikers died in apparent heat-related deaths while traversing the Grand Canyon's inner trails as temperatures spiked above 100 degrees. Rangers and emergency personnel responded to two separate heat-related incidents on June 12 and June 16, according to the National Park Service. "In both cases, the deceased hikers were hiking trails in the Inner Canyon, where temperatures can exceed 109 F in the shade during midday hours," the statement said. President Trump on Saturday said the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool will likely have to be drained to make the necessary repairs after vandals took a knife and put a 250 foot long gash into the pool and poured corrosive chemicals in the water.
Many people have been arrested for vandalizing the reflecting pool and peeling off the paint from the bottom of the pool.
Former Olympian David Hearn was arrested and charged with misdemeanor for destruction of property for vandalizing the Lincoln Reflecting Pool.
According to independent journalist Emily Miller, a man was arrested after jumping into the pool on Friday and cutting out a “huge piece” of the sealant.
The chief medical examiner for New York City reportedly determined the death of Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) executive Kendal Ascher was related to a cosmetic procedure.
His death was due to acute respiratory failure because of pulmonary embolism linked to foreign material following cosmetic filler injections, the New York Post reported, citing the city medical examiner’s statement Tuesday. The Obama Presidential Center finally opened to the public on Friday (not that you care), and the verdict from the internet was swift and brutal. People are calling it a "monstrous insult to architecture," a "concrete nightmare," and simply a "monstrosity." Social media has spent the week comparing the thing to a trash can and a dystopian movie set, which, having seen the photos, feels generous.

Controversy over the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool is drawing national attention again after “Pro-Algae” protesters began a demonstration opposing the Trump administration's cleanup and restoration of the historic landmark. Independent journalist Emily Miller interviewed the self-described “Team Algae” protesters who reportedly return every day to protest the Reflecting Pool's cleanup.
“We have reached peak circus here,” Miller said, as National Park Service crews removed the green algae using advanced nanobubble technology.
This video, posted on YouTube, recorded the pro-algae protesters. Miller reported on X that at least one male protester was arrested for jumping into the water and grabbing hoses from female Park Service workers who were clearing the algae.
