Los Angeles City Councilwoman Nithya Raman is roughly one percentage point away from leapfrogging Republican candidate Spencer Pratt in the L.A. mayoral race with 78% of votes counted. After slowly gaining on Pratt for several days, Raman, a Democrat, is still sitting in third with 26.21% of the vote, Saturday night’s latest election numbers show. Pratt, a reality TV star, is now clinging to second with 27.32% of the vote. (Snip) On Saturday morning, Pratt held 28.24% of the vote in the June primary, while Raman trailed by multiple points at 24.89%. She has since gained significant ground in the

Los Angeles City Councilmember Nithya Raman has overtaken former reality TV personality Spencer Pratt for the second spot in the Los Angeles mayoral runoff, according to updated vote totals released Sunday by the LA County Registrar-Recorder.
Raman, a progressive Democrat representing the city’s 4th Council District, now holds 27.12% of the counted ballots. Pratt, a registered Republican who ran on a law-and-order platform, sits at 26.69%. The gap stands at 3,113 votes.
Decision Desk HQ projected Sunday that Raman had secured the second of two spots in the nonpartisan primary, which advances the top two finishers to the November 3 general election regardless of party.

Former first lady Dr. Jill Biden gave an update on former President Joe Biden’s cancer on Saturday, saying that though the 83-year-old will live with cancer for the rest of his life, he maintains a busy schedule, but has slowed down.
Biden explained during a discussion with political commentator and “The View” co-host Ana Navarro for her new book “View From the East Wing: A Memoir,” that while her husband was still president and had a team of doctors, she mentioned that he was getting up seven times a night to go to the bathroom, and she assumed that someone would follow up on that.

President Trump delivered one of the moments of his presidency as his interview with NBC’s Kristen Welker neared its conclusion.
The “Meet the Press” host traveled to Wisconsin to interview Trump on a variety of topics, including the war with Iran, gas prices, and the “anti-weaponization” fund.
Toward the end, Trump absolutely went off on the corrupt state of American elections, especially in California. Welker tried desperately to interrupt. But Trump would not let go.

Spencer Pratt’s once-comfortable lead in the Los Angeles mayoral primary has been slashed yet again — as a fresh batch of ballots delivered another major boost to progressive City Councilmember Nithya Raman in their race to the November runoff.
New results released Saturday show Pratt’s advantage over Raman shrinking to just 7,494 votes, down from more than 20,000 a day earlier. Roughly 78% of the ballots had been counted as of Saturday. Raman picked up 23,514 votes in the latest count, more than double Pratt’s gain of 10,336. Her share of the vote jumped from 24.9% to 26.2%, while Pratt slipped from 28.2% to 27.3%.

Donald Trump slammed Barack Obama's new $850 million presidential library, with a photoshopped prediction that it would be surrounded by homeless camps within ten years.
A 'giant trash can' is just one of the unflattering comparisons the new center has been called ahead of its opening on the South Side of Chicago on June 19.
And Trump weighed in by posting a photo of the library with a garbage bag on top and homeless encampments surrounding it to Truth Social on Saturday.
Trump wrote over the AI-generated image: 'The Barack Hussein Obama Library, in 10 years, when fully matured!'

McDonald's customers could soon find themselves placing orders with an AI system. The chain is currently piloting an AI-powered drive-thru ordering platform called ArchIQ at five US locations. The effort falls under a broader brand initiative known as McDonald's Next, which was unveiled earlier this week. At the launch, McDonald's CEO Chris Kempczinski stated that customers shouldn't have to choose between "hospitality or speed,” per Fox Business. An X account representing a McDonald's franchisee indicated that Google is involved in the project.

California ballot counting will continue until the key republicans in each race are pushed into 3rd place. That’s when ballot counting will conclude.

Last Thursday, even as California’s chaotic primaries demonstrated the need for a nationwide election integrity law, Sens. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), Susan Collins (R-Maine), and Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) voted to kill the SAVE America Act. This would be understandable if the bill were unpopular with the electorate. But its requirement that voters in every state must provide proof of citizenship before registering to vote and produce a photo ID when casting a ballot are wildly popular among Republicans and Democrats. Yet, because its passage is one of President Trump’s top priorities, TDS forced them to ignore his agenda.

Imagine putting your taxes in the mail a full week before the April 15 deadline, only to be fined by the Internal Revenue Service for a late filing. (snip)Like the IRS analogy above, they contend that by “election,” Congress did not merely mean the act of casting a ballot. They argued before the Supreme Court in March that “election” “plainly refer[s] to the combined action of voters and officials meant to make a final selection of an officeholder.”

The jury that acquitted OJ Simpson in the 1995 murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman had nine members who were black. That is all that one needs to know about the case to infer the verdict. The prosecutor’s argument and evidence, including the bloody glove, were beside the point. The verdict was preordained the moment that the jury was chosen. It says a lot about our jury system, but it says even more about a society in which blacks view justice through a racial lens.
I experienced it firsthand when I sat on a jury determining the guilt of a black former felon who was standing trial for
