In the course of committing an armed robbery in Minneapolis in 2004, Marvin Haynes shot and killed the owner of a flower shop. He was prosecuted, identified by witnesses (“Oh my God, that’s him”), and heard to talk about “shooting an old white man” at the time of the murder. Haynes was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison. His conviction was upheld by the Minnesota Court of Appeals and the Minnesota Supreme Court. Now, 20 years later, Haynes has not only been released from prison, but is being paid $4.5 million by the State of Minnesota. His conviction was obviously not wrongful, but Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty,

Here's the related backstory. https://www.americanexperiment.org/4-5-million-from-minnesota-taxpayers-going-to-once-convicted-murderer-the-troubling-backstory/ If Hinderaker's brief post didn't set your teeth on edge, this article will. A convicted wanton murderer with a life sentence is suddenly out of prison, and financially comfortable, thanks to the taxpayers of Minnesota. How does the screwed up state get out of this? Or does it?

This nothing more than pay the attorneys, that's why this case came up right after Mary Moriarty became Hennepin County Attorney. The fix was in.

On April 3, a 51-year-old woman was murdered by a man wielding a hammer as she exited a Chevron gas station in Ft. Myers, Florida. The attack was captured on video, and from the video, it appears that the woman didn’t realize until the last second what was happening. It was too unexpected. The victim had undoubtedly exited that gas station, where she reportedly worked as a clerk, dozens if not hundreds of times before and felt secure. In the video, she shows no sign of apprehension, but as long as anyone like her killer is at large in America, none of us is completely safe

Thursday evening finally saw the arrival of Stephen Colbert’s departure, an event that began to feel like the ever-distant horizon never being reached. Since the announcement last summer of the cancellation of “The Late Show” by CBS executives, it has been a long slog of guests paying tribute and of media commemorations. One would think this was Patrick Mahomes being drafted and sent off to war in Iran. Brian Stelter, all this week, was especially moved by the demise of this show, as his frequent appearances across the shows on CNN and his social media timeline becoming a thread of Colbert obsession attest.

It's not a big secret that California's gas is so expensive compared to most of the rest of the country because of its taxes and regulations. But Chevron drove that point home when they explained to drivers why the gas is always more in California with signs they put up at their stations. (X) The signs carry messages like: “Sacramento policies did this. Now, you pay more." Others saying, “California has the highest gas taxes and fees in America.” Chevron spokesperson Ross Allen explained more. “They have a 61-cent excise tax on every gallon of gasoline. That’s the highest in the nation,” Allen said. Allen also pointed to environmental programs like California’s cap-and-trade

In a discovery by CriticalRace.org, the University of Minnesota Medical School was found to offer “Child & Adolescent Gender Services” through its Sexual and Gender Health Clinic. These services include “gender affirming medication” for children. “We provide services across the lifespan, with specific services for children, adolescents, and adults,” states the clinic’s website. “All children and adolescents develop differently, and it’s common for some children, adolescents, and their families to need professional help understanding various gender issues.” The website then dives into interventions conducted by the clinic on children who may be struggling with their gender.

CBS News Radio, which provides news programming to an estimated 700 stations spanning the United States, will sign off the air Friday night after nearly a century of broadcasting. The storied service, launched in September 1927, was home to broadcast legends Edward R. Murrow, Robert Trout, Douglas Edwards, Charles Osgood, Dan Rather and many other familiar and trusted voices over its decades in operation. "It's been around for a long time. Really, an American institution is what we're losing here," said Steve Kathan, the longtime anchor of the CBS World News Roundup. "CBS Radio should be remembered for becoming a national institution very important to the development

New York state lawmakers voted Thursday to pass Governor Kathy Hochul’s (D) sweeping sanctuary state bill, enacting a broad ban on cooperation between local law enforcement and ICE. The radical legislation imposes new restrictions on federal immigration authorities, including barring ICE agents from most public spaces—such as hospitals and parks—and ending 287(g) agreements, which are voluntary partnerships between local law enforcement and federal agents. It also bans ICE agents from wearing masks, which would allow them to protect their lives and their families' safety. The legislation creates an “Office of Immigrant Trust” under state Attorney General Letitia James (D), giving her the authority to enforce the law

Stephen Colbert's run as a political rent boy for Democratic politicians has, mercifully for America, come to an end. Because American leftists are clinically insane, fans of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert like to blame President Trump for the host's walking papers. Some of them throw in a dash of garment-rending about CBS and corporate evil, but usually circle back to a Trump tantrum. As I have said on many occasions, President Trump isn't just living rent-free in their heads, he's building condos there. What those on the left aren't talking about is the program's bloated production costs and the fact that Colbert made a conscious decision to tell

A one-year-old baby girl has been officially recorded as a crime suspect by Kent Police after allegedly causing a minor injury to another toddler. This is part of a shocking tally where 683 children under 10 were reported for offences over three years. This isn’t some isolated bureaucratic error. It’s the latest symptom of a system that treats tiny children as miniature criminals or budding bigots while real threats from failed integration and ideological grooming go unaddressed. None of these under-10s can be prosecuted — the age of criminal responsibility in England and Wales is 10 — yet police are dutifully logging every playground scrape, tantrum, or alleged slight under ridiculous

The 2026 mid-term and the 2028 presidential elections may well decide the fate not only of the United States but of those who self-identify as left-of-center moderates and liberals and who also make up the bulk of America’s current ruling class. Blinded by their Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS), far too many within this myopic but significant segment of the electorate still foolishly suppose that there remain various alternative political entities that encompass their “centrist” views, such as the Democrat and Republican parties of twenty years ago. But it isn’t true. At this point in our nation’s history, virtually all the alternatives that existed a few years ago are gone. Self-identified moderates

The man scheduled to be executed was Tony Carruthers, who was convicted of three 1994 murders and sentenced to death in 1996. Lee scheduled the new execution to take place on May 21, 2027, exactly one year after he was initially scheduled for execution. Trump expressed frustration in a post on Truth Social that Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) has refused to take this step, raging that the “Dumocrats cheat, lie, and steal, especially when it comes to Votes in Elections, but stick together, whereas the Republicans allow the Elizabeth MacDonoughs of the World to stay in power, and brutalize us.”
