Jimmy Kimmel Being Unfunny Isn’t a Matter

In a skit last Thursday, ABC’s late-night host Jimmy Kimmel pretended to be the host of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner and remarked of Melania Trump, “You have a glow like an expectant widow.” Given that President Trump had already survived two assassination attempts, it was tasteless even at the time. But the remark aged even more poorly when a third aspiring assassin crashed the actual event days later. In a rare statement, the understandably shaken first lady condemned Kimmel, saying, “His monologue about my family isn’t comedy — his words are corrosive and deepens the political sickness within America.”

Agreed. The best way to handle Kimmel is just to ignore Kimmel.

If anyone had made any joke about the Obamas, they would have been thrown off TV in a heartbeat. It sounds as if the left thinks Kimmel has a God given right to be on TV - he doesn't! Let Kimmel be "funny" on pay for view... not the public airwaves. That'll show how many real fans he has.

I disagree with the approach of government getting involved with the Kimmel issue. Instead, we need an old fashioned boycott of the show's advertisers and a leftist style grass roots cancel campaign. He's a dirt bag, that's a given, but let the market place cancel him out.

First, he's not funny except to his narrow-mined audience. Second, agree he should be ignored as should any advertisers on his show. Third, his show is a partisan political tool which is agenda driven. Should require equal time - after all he never has any Republicans on.

Kimmel's joke is based on the lie that Melania Trump despises her husband and can't wait for him to die. This lie is prevalent among young women especially. This lie was started when Trump ran for office the first time and was resurrected during his second run. I know this because my daughter hates Trump and has ranted on about how much Melania hates him. She also says that Hegseth is not a real Christian and is actually a rapist and alcoholic who is going to hell. This is what young college educated women believe. They post it on facebook and other sites. Kimmel covering up by saying it was about their age difference is stupid on it's face as why would a wife who is younger than her husband have a "glow" about them because they expected their husband to die if they loved them? Kimmel did not even write the joke. I'm sure some young woman writer with TDS on his staff did.

Oh, more selective outrage from what used to be the National Review. Based on the comments and the headline, I'm not sure what NR is calling for here. In order to know more I'd have to read the article. But if I did that, there's a chance some money might clink into the pockets of Lowry and co., and I'm engaged in my own personal boycott of conservatism's former masthead since they sold out Steyn and opposed Trump in 2016. Here's my take on the substance of this: When Johnny Carson did his monologues, he would occasionally toss in an oblique humorous reference to Lincoln. When the joke invariably fell flat, he would smile ruefully, look at Ed, and say, "Still too soon." Joking about the assassination of the President of the United States should be handled the same way Richard Harris's gunfighter was treated in The Unforgiven.

Finally an article about the Kimmel kerfluffle that makes sense! You want to cancel Kimmel? STOP WATCHING HIM! Better yet, organize a consumer boycott of his sponsors. That will get rid of him a lot quicker than some bureaucratic blundering move by the government!

The indictment of Dr. Anthony Fauci’s former adviser David Morens Tuesday revived calls for the Justice Department to prosecute Fauci himself for allegedly lying to Congress about funding risky research in China before the COVID-19 pandemic. Just two weeks remain before the five-year legal deadline on May 11 to indict Fauci for denying under oath that he funded “gain of function” experiments that modified bat coronaviruses in the same city where the pandemic started.

Even if the most dire climate scenarios are accurate, and humanity must transition away from fossil fuel, it can’t happen overnight. The rational approach is to first develop alternative sources of energy without precipitously destroying the industries that reliably produce oil and natural gas. Once alternatives are available at a competitive price and in sufficient quantities, demand naturally migrates to the alternatives. Meanwhile, the oil and gas industry, recognizing that their core business is to provide energy, actually stays healthy by also investing in the transition.

[Former head of Human Rights Watch Kenneth] Roth and his chorus, including morally blind academics claiming legal expertise, promote an imaginary "rules-based international order" that paralyzes democracies while protecting despotic dictators. Under their absurd version of international law, preventive and preemptive strikes – like those carried out by the US and Israel – would be prohibited except against what they refer to as immediate, obvious, and universally acknowledged threats. In this form of unilateral disarmament reminiscent of European pacifists of the 1920s and 1930s, nothing can be done to restrain the world's malicious dictators and warmongering aggressors before they begin mass slaughter.

At the same time it was funding elements of extremist, racist groups, the Southern Poverty Law Center was doling out hundreds-of-millions of dollars to drive voters to the polls across several Southern states it claimed were trying to suppress minority votes. For decades, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has positioned itself as the nation’s preeminent watchdog, which maintained a controversial "Hate Map" that increasingly labeled benign conservative organizations and religious groups as hate groups. But a bombshell federal indictment returned by a grand jury in Alabama last week suggests the organization was playing a far more cynical double —

OPEC’s stranglehold on the global economy is finally coming apart at the seams — thanks in large part to President Donald Trump’s efforts at home and abroad — and the result will be freer markets, long-term lower energy price and less debt slavery for developing nations. On Tuesday, the United Arab Emirates, long frustrated with OPEC’s limits on its oil production, declared its intent to leave the consortium within days to be free to meet consumer demand for energy on its own terms. This is great for consumers, because the production and price of oil should be set by global demand, not by the whims of kings and dictators.

New York City's self-described democratic socialist mayor, Zohran Mamdani, has made history, just not the kind worth bragging about. Barely months into office, he has blown past a statutory budget deadline for the first time since 2015, declared a fiscal crisis of "historic magnitude," and responded to a $5.4 billion budget gap the way any good socialist would: by asking someone else to pay for it. Mamdani and City Council Speaker Julie Menin appeared together at City Hall on Tuesday to announce they would delay the executive budget, originally due May 1, until May 12 while lobbying Albany to bail out a city

Despite a $7.1 billion hole, Mayor Zohran Mamdani has pushed back against any serious cutting to his budget and instead wants to delay required payments to city pension funds. That’s precisely the kind of tactics that brought the city to the brink of bankruptcy in the ’70s. At the least, it will saddle future taxpayers with unnecessary costs. For the moment, the city is on-track to meeting its long-term pension-funding obligations by its 2032 deadline. Yet to help close his budget hole, Mamdani would push $1 billion worth of payments into the 2040s. That would be both costly and risky.
