It's a small thing that looms large in retrospect. Back when Tucker Carlson seem to be a genial and thoughtful conservative, he appeared on Dennis Miller's radio show. Miller, who has many show business friends who are not conservative, mentioned Carlson's appearance on Jon Stewart's Daily Show, during which Stewart had made fun of his bow tie. Stewart clearly hates Jon Stewart on a level that went beyond their unhappy encounter. Carlson said, if memory serves, Jon Stewart is a mean guy. When Miller said, Jon doesn't care what you think as long as you bring the funny, Carlson clouded up and stopped being genial. He refused accept that Miller had known Stewart longer and better, and considered him friend. It was uncomfortable. The level of Carlson's animosity was so out of character, for the character that he portrayed in public, I remember thinking at the time, "What was that all about?" Now we know.

Candace Owens is different. As conservatives, we so highly value people of African-American heritage who are willing to stand up and dispose our values in defiance of their so-called community, that we tend to embrace them less critically than we should. (Anyone remember how happy some people on this site were that Kanye West had joined the MAGA movement before it became obvious that he was an insane imbecile?) That black conservatives are rarae aves, and thus more highly valued, brings about a tendency to overvalue and under-scrutinize their actual intellectual contributions. Shelby Steele, for example, wrote "The Content of our Character," which is a book of treasure, he is justly celebrated for his skill in discussing ethnic and racial issues. But he's supposed to be an English professor, and he has been far more widely recognized and compensated for writing and talking about race that any of his academic work. It pains me to say that if Shelby Steele were not black, he likely would not be as famous. The thing conservative should ask themselves is this: is the value in what is being said, or in the ethnic identity of the person saying it? Thomas Sowell is sui generis and a truly innovative and great conservative intellectual. His ethnic background is the least interesting thing about him. That is as it should be.

Rush decided that it wasn't productive to air clips of MSNBC because they wanted his publicity, and figured the more outrageous, the more likely he would mention them. So he stopped. His example should be followed. Still smile when I think of Rush calling Carlson "Chatsworth Osborne Junior".

I enjoyed listening to Candace Owens at several CPACs, but I have always had a mental reservation about African American "conservatives" after the betrayal of Michael Steele, Colin Powell, Mia Love to name three. Thomas Sowell and Clarence are notable exceptions, though. Tucker's behavior mystifies me and makes me wonder if he has a brain tumor.

Im hindsight....I think that Carlson was always a conspiracy theorist. I also believe that he didn't go over the deep end earlier was because previous employers and producers would intervene to moderate him. I liked him, but never really trusted him.

The only time I hear about what Tucker or Candace has said is on other conservative's shows or podcasts. Maybe we should just ignore them instead of bringing attention to them. From what I've heard, a lot of their listeners are foreigners and their numbers include bots. I miss Rush!

I remember seeing Tucker years/decades (?) ago on some CNN evening show with his signature bow ties. Then years later, he was on Fox. I did enjoy his interviews of a former(?) NY Times columnist who was questioning in the early days of COVID all the masking, etc. Candace, never followed her although the guys at Powerline fell in love with her. You know, an attractive well spoken and articulate clean black woman - heck - she could be president someday. Internet/social media has been great on the one hand (spreading the word to near and far), but it has also spawned its own fair share of devils.

Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson is distinguishing herself on the U.S. Supreme Court — and not in a positive way. It’s as though she’s positioned on an island defined by woke ideology, racial justice, and equity, while the other eight justices remain on the mainland of restraint. For proper context, it’s important to know about a case that was in front of her and the other members of the court. The case centered on an early morning police stop in Washington, D.C., where a Metropolitan Police officer responded to a call about what was described as a suspicious vehicle. At around 2 a.m., the officer approached the car, and immediately

The newest Gaza freedom flotilla has come under the spotlight – not because of its stated aim of “breaking the Israeli siege on Gaza” – but because a senior member was accused of sexual misconduct. The scandal began shortly after the flotilla set sail from Barcelona on April 12, when the Palestinian group Heart of Falastin claimed that “a senior member of the flotilla, a member of the steering committee, the highest governing body of the organization, code named B.L. for their protection (not ours), engaged in sexual relations with multiple activists while on the boat heading toward Gaza. Not one person. Not two. Three different individuals.” Heart of Falastin then said,

The Atlantic has a well-documented history of publishing fake hit pieces about President Donald Trump and his administration, and one wonders how many more hoaxes they can run before they get in real trouble. Its latest effort targeting FBI Director Kash Patel may be its most reckless yet — and this time, the bureau is fighting back with lawyers. The piece, written by reporters Sarah Fitzpatrick and Jonathan Lemire, claims that on Friday, April 10, Patel struggled to log into an internal FBI computer system while wrapping up his workday. He quickly became convinced that he had been locked out, and he panicked,

The event features 500 participants reading Scripture, from Genesis to Revelation. It’s an amazing endeavor that the nation is ripe for, because I believe that a revival has already begun. We are long past due for the kind of revival that sees thousands of people pouring into the streets, filling stadiums, and banging down church doors to praise their God. But it won’t just be about singing and praying; it will be a fight for survival

The video about the two gay dads and their baby, who keeps saying “maa-maa-maa,” isn’t bad for the reason people say it is—namely, that the baby desperately wants mommy, not daddy—although it’s still bad. However, when it comes to all the moral wrongs of surrogate parenting, there’s actually an even more disturbing video out there. Two points, before getting to the gay dads and their “maa-maa-maa” baby, one factual and one anecdotal. The factual point is that “maa-maa-maa” is the first sound almost all babies make. That’s why so many cultures have that sound in their preferred word for what a child calls its mother. Whether spoken with an American, English, Spanish, Italian,

The Seventeenth Amendment was ratified in 1913, during the height of the Progressive Era. Reformers argued that state legislatures had become hopelessly deadlocked and corrupt. Between 1885 and 1912, legislatures deadlocked seventy-one times over Senate selections, leaving at least seventeen seats vacant for entire sessions or longer. States went unrepresented in Washington, while lawmakers wasted months on partisan warfare. Scandals amplified the outrage. In Montana, copper baron William A. Clark admitted to spending the equivalent of millions in today’s dollars to buy his seat; the Senate refused to seat him. In Illinois, Senator William Lorimer was expelled in 1912 after evidence showed that four state legislators

Amidst the ongoing conflict in Iran, a major political event took place in the United States on April 16, 2026, that deserves more attention and scrutiny than the mainstream media will likely devote to it. The event to which I refer to is the victory of Analilia Mejia in the New Jersey special election for congressional district 11. Mejia’s decisive win in the seat formerly held by New Jersey governor Mikie Sherrill should send political shockwaves because I think it is more than fair to say that she will likely be perhaps the most socialistic member of Congress. When asked if she would join “The Squad” shortly before the election,

A great deal of national news coverage concerning Virginia has focused on the attempt by its new Democratic governor, Abigail Spanberger, and her confederates in the General Assembly to circumvent the commonwealth’s constitution in order to radically gerrymander the state’s congressional district map. The Montana Supreme Court struck a blow to biological reality by allowing Montanans who claim to be transgender amend birth certificates and change driver’s licenses to match their self-proclaimed “gender identity.” The state’s high court ruled 5-2 on Tuesday to uphold a lower court’s preliminary injunction of a 2022 policy that mandates Montanans have birth certificates and IDs that match their biological sex. The court ruled that the policy likely goes against the state constitution’s Equal Protection Clause. “Transgender discrimination is, by its very nature, sex discrimination,” the court claimed in its opinion, ultimately rejecting biological reality.
