Two hundred fifty-one years ago tonight Paul Revere rode into history, intent on warning John Hancock and Sam Adams of the British intent to arrest them. Patriots’ Day, April 18/19 1775… A friend once asked: “How do you celebrate Patriots’ Day?” Which, perhaps, should spur me to share my own thoughts on this day of consequence. Many are familiar with the poem Paul Revere’s Ride, however, far fewer know that Paul Revere actually memorialized the events of the April 18 and 19, 1775, in an eight-page letter written several years later.(snipTo me everything about the heart of Revere, which you can identify within his own writing, is what defines an American ‘patriot’.

Comments:

This is a wonderful article and the letter is here for us to see and read in Revere's own words.

If you want to know more about our founding, or have your kids know, you're going to do it up yourself because our institutions are only interested highlighting POC. I spent a week in DC recently and came home wondering if white men had had anything to do with the founding at all! They certainly weren't mentioned in any of the displays! Shameful!!!

#2, “I spent a week in DC recently and came home wondering if white men had had anything to do with the founding at all!” You are absolutely right; I felt the same way. Furthermore, I think Mr. Trump feels the same and has acted.

And the irony is that Boston celebrates Patriot’s Day. I don’t think there is a single patriot left there.

Worth reading, especially if your kids are not getting much history in school. I used to make my students memorize the entire poem (all 14 stanzas!), with a few pointers about the poetic license/historical inaccuracies. We did this in conjunction with reading the wonderful novel ‘Johnny Tremain.’ Another wonderful book is Esther Forbes’ ‘Paul Revere and the World He Lived In.’ Won the Pulitzer Prize back when it meant something.

I just got back from a trip to The Masters. While there, we visited the grave of my ggg grandfather who was killed by the British in the 1880 siege of Augusta. A Major and Elijah Clarke's adjutant. We took some pictures and said some prayers. He is remembered by us but I wonder how many now would know or care if their ancestors died to found this country.

"No, I did not mislead the House of Commons. Leaks, probably from individuals just starting to receive subpoenas, are now quickly making their way to the media. The goal seems to be to rally as much corporate media support as possible, with a subtle push to initiate an Alinsky process. The media’s formerly predictable compliance toward generating a needed Alinsky lawfare strategy is, however, made more complicated by the recent purchases of several major corporate media conglomerates by Larry and David Ellison. A shifted tone, that can be noted, is in the responsive outcome of the leak received by CBS News:

At least eight children — ranging in age from one to 14-years-old — were killed early Sunday in what police describe as a sprawling domestic‑violence shooting that stretched across four separate crime scenes in Shreveport. Shreveport Police Corporal Chris Bordelon told reporters officers were first dispatched just after 6 a.m. to reports of gunfire in the 300 block of West 79th Street, where they located the initial scene. As officers canvassed the area, they discovered additional connected locations, including one on Harrison Street, all tied to the same domestic disturbance. Police said at least 10 people were struck by gunfire, with eight pronounced dead at the scene or shortly afterward.

Late last night (midnight) the House members were called back to session in order to vote on a procedural rule to facilitate a negotiated FISA(702) extension. The advancement vote failed to pass the House (200-220) collapsing the bill, which is not a bad outcome all things considered. House Republican leaders posted a compromise FISA amendment just before 11 p.m., and then called the House members to vote. The Amendment would have extended FISA (702) for five years and did include language that would have strengthened criminal penalties for misuse of the program, and some language that would have required warrants under certain circumstances.

Even now, ill-informed leftists don’t realize most of their thoughts on the dignity of the human and individual freedom -- and hundreds more -- are due to Christianity. The court ruled that the policy likely goes against the state constitution’s Equal Protection Clause. “Transgender discrimination is, by its very nature, sex discrimination,” the court claimed in its opinion, ultimately rejecting biological reality.
