Pope Leo IV ordered the construction of the massive barrier around the year 850 A.D. to shield the city-state from invaders. It was deemed crucial to keeping invaders out. But the fortification, stout as it is, isn’t stout enough to keep the staggering and repulsive hypocrisy emanating from Pope Leo XIV in.
