In an update to supporters, Lee, the lead sponsor of the SAVE America Act, said recent discussions with Thune and his staff have led to meaningful progress on how the bill could be debated and brought to a vote.[snip] Lee confirmed the breakthrough in a new video clip: a HYBRID form of the talking filibuster is now set to be implemented.

I don't care WHAT mechanism they use, if the end result is a vote on the bill where only 51 votes are needed to pass it. However.....just get the bill passed.

Reading the article brought to mind an old commercial which had a line that is apropos: "Can you hear me now?!?!?!?" Seems that Thune realizes we peasants have run out of patience.

Progress should only mean a vote to pass it. Should only take a few seconds, right, Thune? Pass the dam thing, and not a rotten watered-down version that still lets illegals vote. If the dims don't like, tough tacos.

This sentence caught my eye - "We’re going to debate it for an extended period of time BEFORE FILING CLOTURE. Unless Thune can get 10 -11 D Senators to change their vote on cloture, nothing has changed, nothing has been gained. The only way to get it passed is to see a real talking filibuster taken all the way to the end, after which the bill goes to the floor and can be passed with a simple majority, 50 votes plus the VP.

I think Thune is setting up Lee and will stab him in the back so the Uniparty can prevail. The only path to succes here is for DJT to send VP Vance to the Senate in his role as Pesident of the Senate. Teach Thune a lesson in Constitutional power.

This is insulting. If someone had suggested this deal to Lyndon Johnson in 1964 re the Civil Rights Act he would have left the oval office minus some vital parts. There is no incentive for opponents to vote for cloture if they know all they have to do to kill the bill is vote no.

I like the plan for VP Vance to take over the Senate and force everything to happen on a simple majority vote, including all of Trump’s Judge and Cabinet picks. Those insane Senate “rules” only exist to keep Republicans in check.

Here's a question I have asked and have never gotten an adequate answer from reading any articles. Maybe some here knows the rules. Why not vote to end the filibuster and then quickly pass this bill by a majority vote? Then call a recess, come back in and then vote to restore the filibuster? Kind of like a week's vacation from the filibuster. Voilà

My gut tells me that this is all Kabuki Theatre. There will be a Big Deal, they will talk, talk, talk..... for as long as it takes for the Lamestreams to get tired of covering it (which should only be a day or two), then there will be a wee-hours-of-the-morning vote. All the 'RATS -except Fetterman- will vote NO, all the MAGAs will vote YES, the Uniparty RINOS -the ones up for election this fall- will also vote YES, the RINOS who have 2 or 4 years before they have to face the voters will vote NO. The Uniparty Swamp Rats have carefully PRE-PLANNED this to FAIL.... with NO ACCOUNTABILITY. The Lamestreams will cooperate with the Uniparty 'RATS -as they are part of it. I believe it will NOT pass, there are too many 'Power Behind the Green Curtain' sleaze-balls who want to keep the existing Crooked System in place. Mitch is at the Top of the List. Am I right? One thing the Iran War has demonstrated is that the overwhelming majority of journalists and commentators on the war are blindingly ignorant of the basics of military operations, they are unacquainted with the staff process, and they are so eaten alive by the all-devouring TDS virus that they have lost the ability to reason when Trump is involved. The purpose of this post is not to declare victory, but to demonstrate that President Trump is leading a top-shelf strategic team put together by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth. Electric vehicles are probably the vehicle of the future, but they are not the vehicle of the present. Let’s look at the numbers. An EV uses about six cents of electricity to go a mile. That’s if you charge it at home with inexpensive residential electricity rates. It’s more if you use a charging station, and it’s more if it’s a large vehicle like a Rivian. And by the way, be prepared to leave it plugged in for several hours to get it charged. Gasoline-powered cars use about thirteen cents of gasoline to go a mile, assuming gas is something over $3/gallon and you get something like 25 mpg.
