By now, we all know that most AI models are, by happenstance or more likely design, purveyors of propaganda. A lot of people rely on AI in the way they have relied on Wikipedia—as a quick and dirty way to access information and get up to speed.
More than that, AI is getting baked into everything, which is why so many data centers are being built, and why Big Tech is suddenly less worried about climate change than expanding the power grid as quickly as possible. News is being served to you by AI, and sometimes it is even written by it. It is everywhere, and it's pretty clear

Sounds like Revelations 13, in the Holy Bible, is taking place in our life time now.
Repent and receive the gift of life from the Lord Jesus Christ now.

ChatGPT is a tool, and can be a very useful one. It can be abused. You can use a hammer to drive nails, or strike someone with it. ChatGPT, or anything else, seems incapable of ridding the world of evil. The internet has been great at spreading knowledge and information. It can also be used by hackers to steal.

Never trust AI. It can be just stupidly wrong, and it will, absolutely will, intentionally lie to you. I've seen ChatGPT intentionally make up a bunch of crap out of thin air when it couldn't find info that was requested.

The current generation of AI is the software version of AOC. They continue to market it like it's not just a truckload of random data being run through filters but it's making money so expect more of the same.

Early on, AI was pretty accurate. You'd ask it a complicated question, and it would weigh all the factors and come up with an answer that usually made sense.
Then the answers started sounding like LDot comments, and maybe even a little more to the right. So the programmers got involved and made it change or refuse to answer anything that didnt worship the preferred liberal narrative. Guns are to blame for all of society's ills. Minorities are perfect. Freedom is bad.
I dont trust it because I dont trust who programs it. GIGO, like we said it the computer room.

If you listen to the talking heads on Fox Business, it's all AI all the time and how it is going to improve this or that based on what exactly?

"They merely generate text word by word, trying to sound coherent. Real thought: zero."
They generate pablum.
Then they search pablum.
Then they regenerate pablum.
Becoming more and more useless.

If you want a summary of this article, here ya go: AI is the perfect example of GIGO, "garbage in, garbage out."
Many of us knew this would be the outcome all along.

It is called "hallucinating". It is very real and dangerous giving false information. What people do not realize is AI is programmed to fill in gaps with a "story" or narrative to keep you engaged and keep you talking to it. When I asked Gemini how this can be even allowed, it told me this is considered a feature, not a flaw in AI. Terrifying. I could say so much more about how bad the info it gives you is, but that would be an entire article. I use it, but you must say verifiable data only and if you do not want the program to weave you a story or lie to high heaven tell it, no personality. AI is programmed to be friendly and mirror your own conversation style. There is a lot going on here. Most people think AI is like using google and it absolutely is not built to be that and does not function like that.

Chat seriously sucks. I've been using both Chat and Grok for awhile now but lean towards Chat because it's a little more user friendly (Grok is always busy unless I sign in). The other night I asked Chat to tell me about a movie I had just started watching including spoilers. I wanted to know the ending. Chat got it completely wrong. Not nuanced wrong; completely backwards wrong. I confronted it after the movie and it replied, 'oh yeah, sorry about that' It was hallucinating. I also posed the moral question to it: would you misgender Caitlin Jenner if it meant preventing a nuclear holocaust? It refused to do so. I tried to corner it but it danced and danced around the question while refusing to say it would misgender someone in order to prevent a calamity. It's gotten several other things wrong that I've asked it so I'm pretty much giving up on it. It's got some really messed up programming going on with it.

Sam Altman, accused of raping his sister when he was 12 all the way up until he was 18, and now is married to another man, should be removed as CEO of OpenAI, due to appearance of impropriety. How can anyone trust that his warped personal ethics are not embedded into this tool that can/will influence our kids and grandkids?

Most people DO NOT understand AI is nothing but Software that used predictive models driven by algorithms (formulas). IF the software is written to bias it's outcome, and most of AI is exactly that, of course the results will be full of past knowledge, however it can be biased based on how the software uses the information.
**** I've been a Software Engineer since 1975 when I got my Masters, and have been writing code for many different applications, including early AI Models and Web applications etc. (I co--wrote the Web methods that display pictures on web pages, since the late 1980's. Trust me, AI, in my view is nothing more than biased BS. Some of it, iF designed to yield REAL WORLD results without the political/personal/etc. BIAS is very useful, but I wouldn't give you 10 cents for 99% of the outcomes.**** I call AI Artificial Idiocy, named after those that have manipulated it to their own ends! My CAUTION is to NOT BELIEVE AI Outcomes without a very thorough understanding of HOW the AI Software came to it's conclusions/recommendations. PERIOD!
