No, The 3.5 Percent Will Not Overturn
Trump's Presidency

Rachel Maddow likes to play armchair political scientist. Asked by Jimmy Kimmel if she thinks the “peaceful protests” she highlights on her show do any good, Maddow enthusiastically replies, “Yes!” and explains: In political science terms, there’s what’s called the 3.5% rule which is that if you look at authoritarian regimes of various kinds all over the world over the last like century, once you have 3.5% of a population protesting nonviolently against a dictator or an authoritarian, that is essentially an unstoppable force that they can’t oppose. And that precludes them from consolidating dictatorial power….It’s not that much larger a number than what we are already seeing in

IF her assertion that 3.5% rule were true. Her argument falls short since her assertion is 'population protesting nonviolently against a dictator or an authoritarian' can't work because the population that is protesting is paid astroturf with training and equipment provided by only a few donors.

3.5% of the US population is roughly 10 to 11 million people. I doubt if those many have legally voted for the Democrat candidate for President. #8 has it exactly right. Ms. Mad Cow assumes these people are there voluntarily and are peaceful. I would put that number at roughly a tenth of the number.

Maddow conveniently forgets the most important part of any rebellion overthrowing a dictatorship. In order to remove a dictator from power you must first have an actual dictator in power. Trump is many things, and some of them are not flattering but one thing he is not, by any definition of the word, is a dictator.. Maddow 3.5% falls apart when you realize that in America anybody can publicly say exactly how they feel about the government. And, currently it is really hip, cool, trendy and very popular to express outright hatred for the government. With absolutely no fear of official retaliation. Unlike when real dictators are opposed, in America the 3.5% are not just the brave few speaking for the scared many.they are the wackadoodle fringe ranting for likes.

A billionaire's yacht was renamed after the media mogul didn't realize that the ship's title, spelled backwards, was a vulgar antisemitic phrase. Larry Ellison, once the world's richest person and the co-founder of the media and entertainment conglomerate, Oracle, renamed his German-built yacht the Izanami, which, spelt backwards, reads: 'I'm a nazi'. The 81-year-old chose to name the enormous, 191-foot vessel after a Shinto deity in Japanese mythology, the goddess of creation and death, seemingly without realizing the phrase it spelled in reverse. Ellison, whose family has strong ties to Israel, became aware of the vile phrase and renamed the yacht, according to Futurism. The yacht owner has repeatedly shown his support for Israel,

Here in California, billionaires are under attack as the Democrats are pushing a referendum that would levy a 5 percent wealth tax on unrealized gains and other assets of these very rich people in the Golden State. What is it about failed governors that convinces Democrats they should lead the nation? Mark Halperin released his January installment of his “8 for ’28” Democratic nomination rankings, and California Gov. Gavin Newsom remains at the top of the list. Remarkably, another failed governor — Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker — made the biggest jump in the rankings and now sits at No. 4. The third member of that trifecta of America’s worst governors, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, almost became vice president, which would have made him a heartbeat away from the presidency. With Newsom still at No. 1 for 2028, it’s instructive to look at what other lists he tops.

I am in the habit of describing the Great Land with four words: Vast, clean, wild, and free.
