When The EU Buries You Alive: Civil Death 2.0

Original Article

"Civil Death" was a punishment under ancient French law (snip) that extinguished the legal personality of the convicted individual: loss of property, family rights, and civil existence, while leaving the person alive. (snip) The case of Swiss Colonel Jacques Baud, who has been struck with civil death by the EU, first caught my attention. By a sovereign decision dated December 15, 2024, the EU banned Mr. Baud from its territory and "froze" all his assets. (snip) On October 8, 2024 the EU granted itself the power to ban from its territory all individuals who (snip) facilitate the "manipulation of information and interference."

Comments:

The Brave Browser's AI Assistant confirms that the EU administratively imposed these sanctions on Mr. Baud and provides the following additional information. Mr. Baud was accused of "information manipulation" linked to Russia regarding the Ukraine War. The charge was brought by something called the "European External Action Service" and was part of a larger sanctions package targeting a total of 12 persons. Baud is a Swiss citizen and Switzerland has thus far declined to implement the sanctions. Yet another example of the workings of the censorship regime imposed by the EU's German-dominated bureaucracy.

The only perspective that matters is the perspective of the officer at the time he uses deadly force in response to a threat. The image above proves the officer was justified in his decision to use deadly force. He had no obligation to step out of the way that would benefit her or subject him to prosecution. He had no obligation to allow her to drive away from an attempt to detain her after the officer at the door of the car ordered her to stop her vehicle. President Donald Trump is calling for a 10% cap on credit card interest rates for one year, an idea that has drawn strong support from lawmakers in both parties but pushback from card issuers. Credit card interest rates currently average over 20%, according to Federal Reserve statistics, so a 10% cap would represent a significant cut in borrowing costs.

Sources say that the policy 'hawks' around the US President, led by political adviser Stephen Miller, have been so emboldened by the success of the operation to capture Venezuela's leader Nicolas Maduro that they want to move quickly to seize the island before Russia or China makes a move. British diplomats believe that Trump is also motivated by a desire to distract American voters from the performance of the US economy before the mid-term elections
