Did the U.S. Military Just Strike Venezuelan Land?

After nearly four months of striking narco-boats in the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean, President Donald Trump has promised land strikes on multiple occasions. The seas are under control, he says, and the land will be much easier. As I've written many times, a lot of folks have taken this to mean he's threatening a boots-on-the-ground war in Venezuela. Even though Trump says he won't rule such a thing out, if you listen carefully to what the president and Marco Rubio say about it, this is not what he's is talking about. President Donald Trump on Sunday said that talks to end the Russia-Ukraine war had progressed after his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Florida, though Trump acknowledged that thorny issues over territory remain. “I do think we’re getting a lot closer, maybe very close,” Trump told reporters after emerging from the talks. In his remarks, Zelenskyy called the peace talks a “really great discussion” in which U.S.-Ukraine security guarantees were “100% agreed” upon, though Trump gave a slightly lower estimate when asked about that part of the proposal. “We agree that security guarantees is a key milestone in achieving lasting peace,” Zelenskyy said.

French actress, singer, 1960s sex symbol and militant animal rights activist Brigitte Bardot has died. She was 91. The Brigitte Bardot Foundation for the protection of animals announced that the actress had died at her home in Saint Tropez in the South of France on Sunday. Bardot first leapt to fame in then husband Roger Vadim’s controversial 1956 Saint Tropez–set movie And God Created Woman, in the role of a free-spirited 18-year-old whose natural sensuality stirred up passions and jealousies in the then simple fishing village.

The troubles just keep piling up for New York City's self-described Democratic Socialist Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani even before he gets sworn in and moves into Gracie Mansion in the new year. The latest issue involves the person he just tapped to lead the city's Fire Department (FDNY), a woman with no fire department experience, something that swiftly went viral on social media over Christmas because of what is being emphasized about the new fire chief instead: [emphasis added] ...Mamdani is set to take office in January and has appointed Lillian Bonsignore, a veteran emergency medical services leader, to lead the Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY).

The left seems to have decided that sedition is their ticket to winning over the American people and taking down Donald Trump, and they are going all-in on their efforts. First, it was the now-infamous "Seditious Six" – a group of Democrat lawmakers who put out a video pleading with U.S. troops to not "give up the ship" and to consider defying orders from above if they deem them to be unlawful. The video was apparently in response to efforts by the Trump administration to cut off the flow of dangerous drugs into the U.S. with military-led strikes on drug-smuggling boats in the waters near Venezuela.

The Trump administration made a point of acknowledging the birth of Jesus Christ on Christmas, and the New York Times wasn’t having it. In an article entitled, “Trump Administration Emphasizes Religion in Official Christmas Messages,” the Times wanted its readers to know that once again the Trump administration is the worst, this time because people in government did not avoid “overtly religious language, as the Constitution prohibits the establishment of an official state religion.” The Times, which consistently takes a “freedom FROM religion” approach except when that religion is the LGBTQ dogma or Islam, had to work to ignore the part in the Declaration of Independence that says

Michelle Goldberg's columns are a mixed bag. Usually they provide some clear insight into just what every other like-minded progressive is thinking at a given moment. Occasionally, she demonstrates a willingness to 2nd guess her own impulses but today is not one of those days. Today's column is pure holiday wish fulfillment. It's titled "Trump Is Getting Weaker, and the Resistance Is Getting Stronger." It has been a gruesome year for those who see Donald Trump’s kakistocracy clearly. He returned to office newly emboldened, surrounded by obsequious tech barons, seemingly in command of not just the country but also the zeitgeist. Since then, it’s been a parade of nightmares

The Washington Post editorial board continues to challenge its progressive readers today with an editorial taking a shot at socialized medicine in the UK. As the paper notes, the UK's National Health Service is in the midst of an annual winter crisis reminiscent of COVID. The cause this year is the regular flu which is overwhelming hospitals and causing the nation's health secretary to warn sick people to stay home unless absolutely necessary. The NHS has existed for years in a perpetual state of emergency. This was the case before the pandemic hit, and it has only gotten worse. Hospital corridors overflow and routine procedures get canceled

President Donald Trump said the U.S. launched airstrikes in northwest Nigeria on Christmas night targeting ISIS militants he accused of killing Christians, calling the operation decisive and warning further attacks would follow if the violence continues. "Tonight, at my direction as Commander in Chief, the United States launched a powerful and deadly strike against ISIS Terrorist Scum in Northwest Nigeria, who have been targeting and viciously killing, primarily, innocent Christians, at levels not seen for many years, and even Centuries!" Trump said Thursday on Truth Social. "I have previously warned these Terrorists that if they did not stop the slaughtering of Christians, there would be hell to pay

Politico is framing the celebration of Christmas as a “far-right” front in Europe, arguing that Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and her party have made it a “spectacle.” Conservative social media users blasted the left-wing outlet’s Wednesday article, “How the far right stole Christmas,” authored by Rome correspondent Hannah Roberts. “Not a ‘far right’ concept.. politico is such a joke,” wrote podcast host Mel K: “Wow, imagine marking Christmas as being Christian. Revolutionary thinking in Europa,” wrote former Breitbart News journalist Chris Tomlinson: In the Christmas Eve piece, Roberts wrote that the holiday “is becoming a new front line in Europe’s culture wars,”

As we reported on Tuesday, the Supreme Court refused to stay a lower court order blocking the Trump administration from deploying National Guard troops in Illinois. Many conservatives were outraged, complaining that since the advent of President Trump 2.0, judges at all levels have been doing everything in their power to kneecap his agenda. The Supreme Court has issued some favorable decisions along the way — but not this time. One person who was not amused was a Supreme Court justice himself: Justice Samuel Alito, and his dissent on the case doesn’t mince words about his displeasure with what he sees as "unwise" and "imprudent" determinations made by the 6-3 majority.

The recent presidential elections in Honduras felt like the never-ending story in recent weeks, but we can officially report that Nasry "Tito" Asfura is the winner. He's the conservative candidate who was backed by Donald Trump earlier this year. It was close. Asfura received just over 40% of the vote, while center-right candidate Salvador Nasralla got about 39.5%. The far-left socialist candidate, Rixi Moncada, who was hand-picked by the sitting president received about 19% of the vote. The inauguration is scheduled for Jan. 27, 2026, and, despite initial claims of fraud, current president Xiomara Castro promises there will be a peaceful transition of power. Iran’s president declared they were in a “total war” with the US, Israel and Europe, just as Tehran looks to rebuild its nuclear capabilities and strengthen ties with Hamas. Masoud Pezeshkian made the bold statement in an interview published in state media Saturday, Barron’s reported. “In my opinion, we are at total war with the United States, Israel and Europe. They want to bring our country to its knees,” Pezeshkian said. This war is worse than the one launched against us by Iraq. On closer inspection, it is far more complex and difficult,” he said, in reference to the 1980-88 war with Iran’s western neighbor.

Charlie Kirk was a one-off, it seems. His assassination and the turning over of TPUSA to his wife Erika may prove that his legacy handoff is more than she is able to effectively manage. So much of what I saw at this week’s Am Fest triggered by Tucker Carlson (and Jack Posobiec’s cosplaying Jesus Christ Superstar while posting with a disgusting anti-Semite) undercuts -- indeed denigrates -- what Charlie and TPUSA once stood for. While Vice President J.D. Vance used his opportunity there to respond to groyper Nick Fuentes’ attacks on his charming wife Usha,

In 1988, if you had told anyone that the Soviet Union would cease to exist just four years later, you would have been dismissed as a crank. The institutions looked solid, the bureaucracy entrenched, and the power absolute. Yet by 1992, it was history. Today, European politicians in Brussels, Berlin, and Paris suffer from the same dangerous optimism. They believe they are so safely ensconced in their institutional frameworks that public anger can never truly throw them out of the saddle. But looking at the trajectory of the European Union, I believe we are closer to a revolutionary moment than the elites dare to imagine. We often hear comparisons to the 1930s,

With the arrest of Nick Reiner for the alleged murder of his parents, Rob Reiner and Michelle Singer, commentators have taken to simultaneously pitying the accused for his mental illness while condemning him for his evil actions. This is logically contradictory. On the one hand, if it is illness that explains why Nick Reiner committed a crime, then he cannot be held morally responsible for his actions. It is just to hold him morally responsible for his actions only if he could have chosen, on the basis of reasons, not impulses or compulsions, to have done other than what he allegedly did. If, on the other hand, we insist

It’s not easy to put a positive spin on a mass-murdering terrorist group. But CNN’s chief international anchor Christiane Amanpour found a way. While most of the world celebrated the release of the last Israeli hostages this October—and listened in horror to the victims’ stories of torment in Gaza’s underground tunnels—Amanpour took a moment to give Hamas kudos for its treatment of the captives. "They are probably being treated better than the average Gazan because they are the pawns and the chips that Hamas had," she mused. "Now Hamas has given up all its leverage by giving them all up." That is the sort of "fearless and uncompromising"

Another day, another exposé of illegal alien crime. It turns out the three men who committed $14 million gift card fraud in Texas were illegal aliens. Kristians Petrovskis, Romunds Cubrevics, and Nurmunds Ulevicus from Latvia are accused of the fraud, per a news release last week from the Texas Financial Crimes Intelligence Center (TFCIC). But KCWX2 shed more light on the crime by stating that all three men entered America illegally and for the express purpose of committing criminal activities. Petrovskis, Cubrevics, and Ulevicus are accused of gift card cloning, according to TFCIC, and at the time of their arrest had over 400 gift cards in their possession.

Close to 90 people have been charged so far, including at least three with direct ties to the lefty Squad member, though she has not been charged.

Colorado is a much different place from when I grew up in Colorado Springs in the 60s. That was before the Eisenhower Tunnel on I-70 was drilled under 11,990’ Loveland Pass. It was before the gondola at Aspen and it was before Snowmass was founded. Vail Pass was a treacherous gravel road, and the town of Vail did not exist. It was wonderful. Our family had one of those pop-up tent trailers and we went camping several times a year. Getting there was half the fun.
