The Somali fraud crisis is being reported as up to $1 billion, but that is just the fraud that is being charged right now. Minnesota U.S. Attorney Joe Thompson has already said that our fraud problem breaks into the billions of dollars, and whistleblowers within the Minnesota Department of Human Services predict the fraud will reach up to $6.5 billion just in the time that Tim Walz has been in office. Twin Cities leaders spoke out against the Trump administration Tuesday after The New York Times reported federal officials are planning an alleged "crackdown" on Somali immigration in Minnesota.

Two uniformed military personnel, appearing to be National Guardsmen, have been shot in downtown Washington just blocks from the White House, according to two sources familiar with the ongoing situation.
The Metropolitan Police Department said it is on the scene of a shooting at 17th and I streets.

According to the search warrant, the fraud investigation involves HSS providers who billed for various services intended to provide stable housing for Minnesotans.
The search warrant states, “The Program has proved to be extremely vulnerable to fraud.” (snip) Records indicate that Brilliant Minds Services is owned by Khalid Dayib and Mustafa Ali. Before April 2025, it was owned by Dayib, Ali, and a third partner, Moktar Hassan Aden.

An electric school bus burst into flames in Los Angeles on Wednesday morning, prompting a massive emergency response and shutting down a stretch of the 210 Freeway in Sylmar, authorities said.
The fire was reported around 9:20 a.m. at 11460 W. Foothill Blvd., directly under the 210 Freeway overpass in the San Fernando Valley, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Sky5 was over the scene as heavy flames and thick black smoke poured from the fully involved bus.
No children were on board at the time of the fire, officials said. The driver, whose age and gender have not been released, was transported to a local hospital for minor smoke inhalation.
