Democrats can now add a major city in Donald Trump’s home state — and one set to host his future presidential library — to its list of off-cycle election wins. In a Tuesday runoff, Miamians elected Eileen Higgins as mayor, the first woman in the city’s history to hold the job and the first Democrat in 28 years. Higgins, a former county commissioner, defeated Republican Emilio González, an ex-city manager who had the endorsement of Trump and Gov. Ron DeSantis. Though the race and the job of mayor are nominally nonpartisan, the election generated sizable interest from national Democrats and Republicans. Higgins’ win adds to the slew of victories

Like always, the republicans are not giving anyone a reason to vote for them, except that they aren't democrats. That hasn't worked for 20 years and its not going to work into the future. Hell, half of them ARE democrats. And planting fake news stories about how strong you are isn't getting it either.

Wake up! American voters are not addicted to Lucifer, they are not stupid, or any of the other lame excuses for the low Republican turnout, not only in this election, but also in the special Tennessee election. Trump carried that district by 22 points. The Republican won by nine points. Trump is hemorrhaging MAGA support. In an earlier post I listed six or seven things Trump has done that have alienated his base. I won't repeat myself, and I don't think I really need to. Every thinking person here can fill in the blanks if they are honest.. Write Republicans in the House and Senate, and tell them that Trump needs some major course corrections or the midterms will be a catastrophe for America.

The southern three countries have always been the “blue tip” of Florida. The land of “hanging chad” and numerous recounts. Each one of which resulted in small, but ever increasing votes, for Al Gore. Considering it was an off y.ear election and very low voter turnout, it is not surprising that it resembles the NYC mayors race.

FBI Director Kash Patel announced Monday that five members of a pro-Palestinian extremist group had been arrested in connection with an alleged plot to carry out coordinated bombings in Los Angeles on New Year’s Eve. The “credible, imminent terrorist threat” to five locations in Los Angeles came from radical members of an offshoot of the Turtle Island Liberation Front (TILF), Patel claimed in an X post. Four of the suspects were collared in Lucerne Valley in the Mojave Desert, where the extremists allegedly were testing improvised explosives. A fifth was apprehended in New Orleans while planning a separate attack, according to the FBI boss. Charges have yet to be announced.

If a single person from the Biden administration deserves sustained scrutiny, Alejandro Mayorkas sits at the top of the list. There were record crossings, overwhelmed cities, and steeply climbing fentanyl deaths, thriving cartels, all with governors begging for help. Yet as the Trump administration continues to settle back in power, Mayorkas has barely been mentioned: When was the last time you heard his name mentioned? One defers to others because of their position of authority, regardless of whether they are honest, honorable, decent and capable. Respect, however, must be earned every day. We defer to others because of their positions and to a lesser degree, their accomplishments. We respect others because of who they are, because they’ve proved themselves worthy of our respect regardless of their positions of authority. In the military, you defer to rank, but you respect those who don’t trade on it, or who fling their accomplishments
