There's nothing hotter than a little blue-on-blue action, and things are getting steamy at Chicago's City Hall as Mayor Brandon Johnson and his allies go to war with other Democrats over the scraps of the Windy City's finances.
We're in the endgame now.
Jim Talamonti reported for Center Square on Tuesday that Johnson's allies "launched a seven-figure campaign" to support the mayor's budget because opponents argue that "the mayor’s tax plans will send the city into an economic death spiral and could bring about costly litigation."
As of today, Chicago's political position is probably best described as paralysis.
The city council's finance commission rejected Johnson's tax package on Monday,

There must have been a time in American history when six sitting lawmakers urging members of the military to defy the commander-in-chief would have been viewed as outright sedition — and those lawmakers would have quickly faced justice. In the age of Trump, however, those days are long gone.
Touting their prior military and intelligence service, Democratic Sens. Elissa Slotkin (MI), who organized the video, Mark Kelly (AZ), and Reps. Chris Deluzio (PA), Maggie Goodlander (NH), Chrissy Houlahan (PA), and Jason Crow CO), launched a surreal video on Tuesday in which they called on troops to refuse to carry out what they consider to be President Donald Trump’s “illegal” orders.

More than a year after he nearly succeeded in assassinating President Trump, the official attitude toward Thomas Crooks seems to be incuriosity. Who was he, and why did he want to kill Trump? These are questions that no one has seemed anxious to answer.
The New York Post has information from internet sleuths that I don’t think has been reported before:
Thomas Crooks used they/them pronouns and posted threats of political violence and violent art on his secret social media accounts before he attempted to assassinate President Trump, according to sources who shared the suspected messages with The Post.

Crooks had two possible accounts on DeviantArt, a site that hosts fan art and

The Democrats have a long history of being in bed with entertainment industry elites. I don't like to use the word "Hollywood" when writing about the lefties in showbiz, because there are a lot of conservatives working behind the cameras there. Most of the stars, as we are painfully aware, are enthusiastic socialists, mostly because they can afford to be.
This relationship between the Dems and entertainers has given the latter the false impression that they know something about American politics. Some do, but even those who have some activist experience are still out of touch due to the aforementioned wealth.

Former Harvard President and leading Democratic Party intellectual Larry Summers has announced that he is “stepping back” from public activities as a result of his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, as revealed in Epstein’s recently-released emails. Among other things, Summers visited Epstein’s notorious island.
Now another Democrat is in trouble: Kathy Ruemmler, the General Counsel of Goldman Sachs:
Emails reveal Ruemmler, a former Obama White House attorney who also referred to herself as Epstein’s lawyer in one email, had a friendly relationship with the disgraced financier.
She wrote to Epstein on September 19 2014: “I’ll be here all week… you may get sick of me…”

YouTuber and social media influencer Jack Doherty was arrested for drug possession and other charges in Miami Beach after he was found disrupting traffic to allegedly film social media content, police said.
Miami Beach Police announced that the 22-year-old was taken into custody early Saturday on multiple charges, including possessing amphetamine and marijuana, along with resisting an officer without violence.
"The Miami Beach Police Department remains steadfast in its commitment to maintain public safety and order throughout the city—regardless of celebrity status," the agency said. "The Department will continue to take proactive enforcement action against behavior that endangers residents, visitors, or officers and will hold all individuals accountable under the law."

Normally I wouldn’t do anything so facile as to blame inflation on a particular politician, but given that the Democrats are pinning their hopes on hanging the “affordability crisis” around President Trump’s neck, a little historical perspective is in order. Thus, from the Unleash Prosperity Hotline:
We went back to January 2020 when the pandemic started. We found that 13.5% of cumulative inflation (prices are 24% higher today) has happened under Trump, while 86.5 percent of cumulative inflation happened under Biden.
So the “affordability crisis” is the hangover effect of Bidenomics when the White House dumped some $4 trillion of helicopter money out the windows.
This chart shows it nicely:

I’m a gamer. An old-school tabletop role-play gamer. There, I said it.
I started playing Dungeons & Dragons when I was thirteen, right around the time Mazes and Monsters hit theaters and scared the living daylights out of every suburban parent in America. That was the era when people honestly thought dice and graph paper could summon demons. I lived through the “D&D is satanic” panic — the tracts, the sermons, the moral hysteria. My own father once threw my little brother’s entire hardcover Second Edition collection into the foundation of a house he was pouring, including the first-print Monster Manual. Somewhere out there, a basement’s

One of the college basketball players banned by the NCAA for participating in sports-betting operations has acknowledged his role in a gambling scheme.
Former University of New Orleans guard Dae Dae Hunter said on ABC’s “Good Morning America” that he participated in point-shaving.
“I did go out there and not do my best: basically shooting the ball and not actually trying to make it,” Hunter said on the show, which aired Monday. “I just had a child. The school wasn’t paying me, so I was trying to get money to actually take care of my child.”
Hunter and two New Orleans teammates are among six players whose eligibility was revoked by the NCAA

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY-8) struggled to offer a coherent response when a reporter questioned him on why Democrats should be trusted on the Jeffrey Epstein story when a member of his own party was caught texting with the disgraced sex predator during a congressional hearing in 2019.
For a brief background on that, RedState reporter Nick Arama covered the story of Democrat Del. Stacey Plaskett, who the Washington Post revealed was texting Epstein in real-time during the hearing and steering her questioning of an anti-Trump witness at his behest. (X) To nobody's surprise, few in the media are talking about Plaskett's interactions with Epstein, which, in a sane world,

While there was still some fallout from the shutdown debacle, the press dutifully followed the lead of the Democrats to distract from that failure. And distract did they ever! The release of selective emails from the Jeffrey Epstein estate by the Democrats on the subcommittee had the press in overdrive, insisting that there was proof to bring down the president.
The keyword there is “insist,” as all the examples trotted out and highlighted were sorely lacking in accuracy or actual proof. But do not be swayed by the lack of evidence; take their word for it, this will cause Trump’s demise!

Man, it seems like democratic socialism – Marxism – is rearing its extremist head everywhere you turn. DSA member Zohran Mamdani won the mayor’s race in New York, his comrade Katie Wilson took the top job in Seattle, and as I reported earlier Monday, community organizer Rae Huang has decided to run against Democrat LA Mayor Karen Bass.
But wait, there’s more!
Now listless House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY-8) is facing a primary challenge of his own, and yup, and it’s from another socialist:
New York City Council member Chi Ossé, a democratic socialist, filed paperwork on Monday to challenge House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries
