Yes, the Nazis Were Socialists

Original Article

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is quite talented at causing his enemies’ minds to explode. His latest missive on social media this week pointing out that “Nazi socialism” was indeed a form of socialism set off a thousand furiously self-righteous posts. Leaving aside for the moment whether it was wise for Poilievre to make this point, it is neither inaccurate nor misleading to say that Germany’s National Socialist party was “socialist” in much more than name, as much as Poilievre’s left-wing critics want to pretend otherwise.

Comments:

The point is totalitarian extremism is not just on the right. It is prominent on the left as well. Those mobs rioting against ICE are undeniably left totalitarian extremists.

Stating such a fact is worth the indignation from socialists everywhere. However, no one should expect this information to sink into minds mortared shut by propaganda and ignorance. Just ain't gonna happen.

The difference between nazism and communism is that one is nationally focused and the other is internationally focused. Nazism was a form of fascism, focused on Germany (and "Greater Germany") rather than Italy.

This is why I call "democratic" socialists "Demzis". In fascism, the central government controls EVERYTHING. In communism, the central government OWNS everything.

FTA: Throughout The Road to Serfdom, Hayek details how personal liberty is incompatible with central planning, as the government would have to interfere in people’s lives with greater and greater intensity. Socialism leads, inevitably, to tyranny, he argued. Or, what today's Democrats have been doing for the past few decades and really ramped up during the Biden term.

Naziism and Communism are merely rotten fruits off of different branches of the same poisonous tree of totalitarianism. These ideologies were in competition because each of them believed that they were the ones who owned and controlled people.

The plain fact is that, centuries of history show that any kind of collectivism, communism, communalism, socialism - whatever you want to call it - only works when the leadership takes a Zero Tolerance hard line on the ideology, at least when it comes to the Common Citizen. And, since any ideology of communal ownership and unquestioning voluntary honor, cooperation and sacrifice, except perhaps beyond the context of the nuclear family, runs absolutely counter to human nature, that kind of ideology ALWAYS devolves into harsh, then brutal, Totalitarian Authoritarianism. Try as the Powers That Be may, life always gets difficult, then impossible, then falls apart. Usually, with considerable violence and tragedy. Period.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg on Thursday launched a $1 billion first-of-its-kind pilot program aimed at helping reconnect cities and neighborhoods racially segregated or divided by road projects, pledging wide-ranging help to dozens of communities despite the program’s limited dollars. Under the Reconnecting Communities program, cities and states can now apply for the federal aid over five years to rectify harm caused by roadways that were built primarily through lower-income, Black communities after the 1950s creation of the interstate highway system.

Switzerland hasn't had a mass shooting since 2001, when a man stormed the local parliament in Zug, killing 14 people and then himself. The country has about 2 million privately owned guns in a nation of 8.3 million people. In 2016, the country had 47 attempted homicides with firearms. The country's overall murder rate is near zero. The National Rifle Association often points to Switzerland to argue that more rules on gun ownership aren't necessary.

The great global supply chain crisis of 2021 — which has ensnared groceries, holiday shopping and everything in between — has bottlenecked West Coast ports, and drawn the involvement of the White House to address it.(snip)“There's a lot of us that are willing to work,” Carlos Rameriz, a 25-year truck driving veteran, told Yahoo Finance in an interview. Speaking from a nearby area where trucks have idled and multiple chassis have sat unattended, Rameriz blasted a reported driver shortage as “the biggest excuse,” and simply “not true.”(snip)“There are truck drivers that come in and are waiting for a chassis and the company does not allow us to give them it”

Democrats walked into a political ditch with their plan to let the Internal Revenue Service snoop on American banks accounts, and so far they’re doing a lousy job of scrambling to get out.(snip)The details are murky, but most Americans could still get ensnared in this dragnet unless they pay bills and buy goods in cash. Democrats say banks will only have to report total annual inflows and outflows, not discrete transactions. But nearly all Americans spend more than $10,000 a year. The real political goal here is to create a mechanism for triggering audits—probably through an algorithm—so the IRS can rifle through all of a taxpayer’s business and other financial records.

Federal regulators had deemed the plant perfectly safe.(snip)The first full month without the plant has seen a 46% increase in the average carbon intensity of statewide electric generation compared to when Indian Point was fully operational. New York replaced clean energy from Indian Point with fossil fuel sources like natural gas.

There have been countless examples of liberalism being a mental disorder. Here is another one: Two researchers from Western Michigan University have written a paper [snip] The paper argues that intentionally spreading alpha-gal syndrome (AGS), a potentially life-threatening allergy to red meat, could be not only morally defensible, but perhaps even necessary, in order to reduce animal suffering and combat climate change. Here are the authors, Parker Crutchfield and Blake Hereth, in their own words: Because promoting tickborne AGS prevents something bad from happening, doesn’t violate anyone’s rights, and promotes virtuous action or character, it follows that promoting tickborne AGS is strongly pro tanto (‘to that extent’) morally obligatory.

A notoriously violent two-block stretch of Brooklyn is fighting crime — by keeping uniformed cops away, The Post has learned. NYPD officials agreed to turn a sliver of Brownsville in the NYPD’s 73rd Precinct into a “police free zone” last week as part of an city-funded experiment called the Brownsville Safety Alliance that initially was only twice a year but now runs four times annually. And it’s an initiative that’s received praise from anti-cop, mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani, an official with the group that runs it told The Post.

After a thorough investigation, it has become clear that the developers behind EPIC City flagrantly and undeniably violated the law,” said Attorney General Paxton.

Congressional Republicans appear to have been the victims of an elaborate setup involving American flags covertly altered with hidden swastikas. We learned that what seemed at first like a shocking display in Rep. Dave Taylor’s (R-Ohio) office — a flag visibly bearing the hateful symbol — was part of an elaborate attempt to sabotage Republicans. Flags went out to multiple GOP offices featuring swastikas hidden in the stripes in a way that was essentially invisible to the naked eye but glaringly apparent on camera. This "optical illusion" technique has allowed the flags to fly under the radar until video calls or photographs capture them, prompting an ongoing Capitol Police investigation.
