No, we don’t need illegal immigrants
to do jobs Americans ‘won’t’

Original Article

Americans have been told for decades we’re in desperate need of an underclass to handle the work we don’t want to do ourselves. We were convinced the development of an American caste system, with the “illegal untouchables” assigned the least-attractive duties, is what a prosperous nation like ours deserves. This narrative’s purveyors swore to us the depth of illegal immigration would remain shallow enough that these people wouldn’t be a competitive workforce for jobs American citizens want to earn a living from. This deception has created what I call “The Great Illegal-Immigrant Lie.”

Right after the tech wreck, and I was laid off and replaced by an H1-B hire from India, I said that the problem is there aren't enough American engineers to fill the jobs, but there aren't enough American employers willing to pay American engineers competitive salaries. I can leverage this, and the article. There aren't enough employers willing to pay Americans enough to get them to do the jobs. In addition, there are greedy companies, as the author states, that hire cut-rate labor, and don't care if they get cut-rate results.

A sausage factory (Hormel or Jimmy Dean - don't remember) built a factory in our small town. Lots of unemployed, able-bodied people. However, they weren't hired. You guessed it - immigrants (illegal or not) were hired and transported almost an hour from the closest major city. Even though the wages were barely above minimum wage, the people in our area would have been glad for the work, but no they paid those same wages to immigrants. The company claimed they couldn't hire enough locals to do the work. They found ridiculous reasons not to hire people locally. Oh and they got all kinds of tax breaks for putting that plant in a small rural town. Those tax breaks should have been tied to them having to hire locally.

We need the able bodied Americans we are paying to do nothing to do the work the illegals are doing.

We used the same reason to move many of our manufacturing and pharmaceutical companies to China. For an advanced example of this wrongheaded philosophy, look at what illegals from the Middle East and North Africa are doing to Germany right now, nothing short of killing the country. I'm only annoyed at finding out that I could have gotten out of cleaning the garage and cutting the grass over the weekend, I could have hired Hector and Juan to do it.

Classic self-fulfilling prophesy. Destroy the market value for labor by importing third world laborers then declare that citizens won't do those jobs at third world rates. Same for trade. Purchase products made by 12 year old slaves on dirt floors then complain that Americans can't compete.

Let employees get paid in cash with no paperwork to the feds, no benefits, no taxes withheld (e.g. SS and FICA), and no taxable income (similar to how many illegal aliens are hired and paid - or the kid down the street who mows your yard) and see how many Americans would be willing to do jobs "Americans won't do" while keeping labor costs to the employer low.

I fault the companies that hire illegals. Spare me the canard about how wonderful the private sector is when companies; large and small, focus solely on the bottom line. Nothing wrong with making a profit but when you do it at the expense of your fellow Americans - screw you. Of course many companies want cheaper labor but that usually means less skilled labor and people too afraid or too ignorant to report problems with their employer such as unsafe working conditions, etc.

If we controlled only legal immigration, the problem could be managed. If we actually enforced e-verify, it would cut the illegal invasion in half. The solution is obvious. Fine employers a massive fine fine for every day an illegal is found working for them.Something like $5,000 per day. The employers will squeal "but they had "proof" that they were legal. Tough s***. It's up to you to verify that your employee was here legally so pull out your checkbook and pay up or close up. The law could be written to exclude individuals hiring help like a maid or lawn service, just corporations with more than 5 employees similar to laws requiring employers to have workers compensation insurance on employees. Non-corporations could be exempt from this but if over the five employees or whatever the number decided on but not incorporated companies would be liable for injuries on the job. Even now, if a company avoids the workers comp law by not incorporating even though the law requires it, the company owners can be held personally liable for employee injuries. If the will by congress to actually enforce e-verify as it should be, half the illegals working here would drop significantly . Some businesses will always slide by but some real enforcement even now would make a huge difference. . Most large businesses cannot afford to not be incorporated for a number of legal reasons. "But who will pick our cotton" as they said in 1860 but plenty of northern businesses also used slaves at the time. Not only slaves, but immigrants like the Irish were first used as if they were almost slaves or exploited as indentured servants. Apologies for the long rant. Trump has made a big start by closing the border and letting ice do its job. I am no fan of more government but many companies are well aware that they are taking advantage of the system by padding the bottom line by skirting the law.

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) reported a net worth of up to $30 million in her latest financial disclosure — a document filed just months after the congresswoman dismissed claims she was a millionaire as “ridiculous” and “categorically false.” The disclosure, filed in May, shows the far-left “Squad” lawmaker and her husband, Tim Mynett, experienced a roughly 3,500% increase in net worth last year, compared to 2023. The surge in the couple’s wealth was first reported by the Washington Free Beacon on Monday. The financial gains came from Mynett’s two businesses, a Santa Rosa, Calif.-based winery and a venture capital firm headquartered in Washington, DC.

There was no Labor Day holiday for Chicago criminals, who murdered nine people and wounded another 51; most (if not all) were black or brown people with names and stories we will never know. Meanwhile, crime is down sharply in Washington, D.C., where three people were shot and wounded, but no one was killed over the weekend. Rather than learn from Washington, D.C.’s experience, Chicago’s leaders are doubling down to frustrate a proposed federal law enforcement surge here that will make Chicago safer for all. As the weekend’s carnage unfolded, Mayor Johnson issued an order blocking the Chicago Police from cooperating with any new federal law enforcement effort while

Writing elsewhere last month, I suggested that Donald Trump end the National Endowment for Democracy once and for all. Like most so-called “non-governmental organizations,” the NED is in fact an all-governmental organization. It depends absolutely on a subsidy from the state department, i.e., from the federal government, i.e., from the taxpayer, i.e., from you. The NED began life in the Cold War as a way of projecting “soft power” against our Communist adversaries. But as James Piereson noted in February of this year, the NED has undergone a familiar process of mission creep and moral and political entropy.

On July 14th, President Donald Trump set a deadline for Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war in Ukraine – 50 days. The war’s death toll and the Russian leader’s bad faith negotiating tactics had exceeded the president’s patience threshold and it was time for the Trump Administration to weigh in more heavily than it had thus far. President Trump threatened sanctions and secondary sanctions if Putin didn’t stop the conflict, offering increased military support to Ukraine as well. Putin was on the clock! Two weeks later, an important change took place when Trump accelerated the timeline. It was that pressure-packed strategy that quickly brought Putin to the negotiating table.

That’s all too befitting the sad farce of New York’s mayoral race, led by front-runner Zohran Mamdani. How does Mamdani, as the only major candidate who comes close to the 20-30 age range, measure up? Mamdani’s smiling, youthful energy attracted many real 20- to 30-year-old New Yorkers, as well as many older 20-somethings-at-heart. His wealth of socialist/Communist ideas — abolishing private property, seizing the means of production, defunding the police, freezing rent, providing free public transportation, establishing government-run stores and more — make many

Almost weekly in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, France, and Germany, a sensational assault committed by an illegal migrant -- often enjoying some sort of state support or with prior arrests for the same crime -- surfaces. Until recently, European politicians and the media sought to either ignore such news or accuse those who clamored for tighter borders, more police protection, and stiffer penalties of being "racists" or "xenophobes." Until recently, that is. Mass protests are now common in Britain against the Labour Party's open borders policies and generous welfare entitlements for immigrants who arrive illegally and without authentic "political refugee" status.
