Appeals Court Allows Trump Order That
Ends Union Protections for Federal Workers

Original Article

A federal appeals court on Friday allowed President Trump to move forward with an order instructing a broad swath of government agencies to end collective bargaining with federal unions. The ruling authorizes a component of Mr. Trump’s sweeping effort to assert more control over the federal work force to move forward, for now, while the case plays out in court. The appeals court noted that the affected agencies had been directed to refrain from ending any collective bargaining agreement until “litigation has concluded,” but also noted that Mr. Trump was now free to follow through with the order at his discretion.

Comments:

Existing collective bargaining contracts remain in effect. Going forward, new collective bargaining negotiations will not be scheduled.

With unions, the President has no control of personnel, or his office. The same can be said of a CEO. The world changes, and more rapidly than ever, all managers need to be able to adapt in order to survive.

This is huge. There was a time when people avoided government employment and preferred private industry because the pay was better. Then the government decided to pay their flunkies more and give them better benefits so they could hire better people. The situation now is that government employees have higher pay and better benefits but the same old lazy, untalented people still work there.

Your postman is a union member. That nice, prompt, professional IRS call center worker you ask a question to during tax season is a union member. The SS, Medicare or Medicaid agents you call because of a screw up in payment are federal union members. And it goes on and on and on. What do unions need? More members. That leads to more government bureaucrats. Union dues (taxpayer money) go to politicians. Politicians support and promote expanding the unions who pay them union dues. The union heads 'encourage' their members to vote for the politicians supporting the unions. Large swaths of those members are overpaid, over perked, unqualified and hard to fire because the unions negotiate on their behalf and protect them. In many cases unions are no more than DEI work programs. The unions and politicians don't care. There's power in numbers. See how that works? Question, if federal government unions are so great and a benefit to the country, why not unionize the military? "Mr. President. SF and LA have just been nuked by the combined forces of Russia and China. Unfortunately, the Navy and the Air Force are currently on strike for fewer working hours per week which we're negotiating now. We should be able to respond to China and Russia in 90 to 120 days when a new contract is signed."

I was a Federal employee when they automatically made your a member of the federal employees union. I did everything I could to deny that ANY union represented me, especially that one. I don't particularly like unions, as they are outside the governmental checks and balances and so very susceptible to corruption. Governmental unions I have always opposed (even as a relatively liberal high schooler) because it gives the employees too much control (both official and unofficial) over their own jobs. It's like Congress being able to vote their own pay raises.

federal unions are quite the conundrum. ppl in dangerous jobs need protecting, but won't get it. they are often independent contractors and must pay to protect themselves from federal jackazzery. other ppl in dangerous jobs--subject to the indignities, injuries, murders, of dc metro, capitol police, sex abuses at the hands of those working on the hill --or anywhere a clowntoon or bidiot may be found-- they too need protection... and won't get it. nevertheless, their bosses will apply for next gen slush funds from a USPAID type scam. seems insurance for lowlifes has been a failure, by and large. how about the money and power animals, the rapists, child fanciers, arsonists for profit, the serial killers everywhere in the global and dc jungles- in nih, the pentagram, any moron trying to hide behind the whooooo, must pay their own tariffs... for their misconduct...or be recalled by their governors, for a snap replacement . double plus for the marxists and the insider traders. iirc, the NY Bar Assn forces all their members to protect their evildoers; they , all of them, must pay into indemnity funds to compensate the victims of their colleagues' rapacious behaviours. let the baddies indemnify the fund-or face permanent expulsion-starting w/ crooked politicised judges and billion dollar politicians...the clintons, the de blaze eos, cuomos [it is the Tappan Zee bridge!] dc is a permanent blight upon the legal landscape. [ joisey too. ] let's start saving money by eliminating dc: every dc court, every dc lawyer, their repugnant fake juries, their vile 3rd world jails, monstrous jailers, and sleazoid judges. on pain of 3 choices...alcatraz 2.0. alligator -upgrade 3.0, el savador, luxury edition. ka-ching.

At least four tankers carrying Russian crude are idling off India’s western coast as mounting sanctions and warnings of steep U.S. tariffs disrupt oil flows, the Indian business outlet NDTV Profit reported. Two of the vessels, the Achilles and the Elyte, are anchored near the port of Jamnagar, which were both originally scheduled to arrive at the nearby Sikka terminal Thursday. The ships were loaded with crude at Russia’s export hubs and are subject to sanctions imposed by the E.U. and Britain. The delays come amid a significant shift in Indian purchasing behavior following threats from President Donald Trump, who has pledged 100% tariffs on countries that import Russian energy

The United States is suspending a "de minimis" exemption that allowed low-value commercial shipments to be shipped to the United States without facing tariffs, the White House said on Wednesday. Under an executive order signed by President Donald Trump, packages valued at or under $800 sent to the U.S. outside of the international postal network will now face "all applicable duties" starting on August 29. Goods shipped through the postal system will face one of two tariffs: either an "ad valorem duty" equal the effective tariff rate of the package's country origin, or, for six months, a tariff of $80 to $200 depending on the country of origin's tariff rate.
