The State Department was inundated with emotions on Friday, ranging from tears to open rebellion. The Trump administration moved forward with laying off over 1,300 career officials after the Supreme Court gave the go-ahead in a recent decision. Over a thousand more had already taken voluntary deferred resignations.
The move comes as part of a restructuring led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio. That includes getting rid of various departments centered on "diversity, equity, and inclusion." I'm going to guess that includes those who gave the order to fly pride-progress flags at U.S. embassies.
In response, some flooded the lobby of the State Department

Fortunately for those being laid off who have no marketable skills, there are many jobs opening up in housekeeping, fruit picking, landscaping, and restaurant kitchen help.

Rubio is doing a splendid job in affairs of state and in administering his department.

I hope it has dawned on you that the Federal government is nothing more than a hiring program for left wing wokearoos. You got that, right?

Good. Knowing the excess number of useless slackers just drawing a paycheck is probably about 25%. It's the same in a lot of state governments. Those government non-jobs draw those looking for that kind of job like flies to a t***.

#5 And according to what I have seen, Joey loaded it up the last few months he was in office, including close to 300 judges.

I, along with others, was laid off from a big company years ago when they were 'reorganizing. It happens to many people, so my heart doesn't break.

Back in the'90s Clinton/gore and the dim congress laid off thousands when they cancelled the Supercollider and no dim nor anyone in their media shed a tear.
Now CERN in Europe is the center for subatomic research instead of the USA.
Why should government bureaucrats be immune from cutbacks? They happen all of the time in the private sector - and often due to government bureaucrats' decisions. pot/kettle goose/gander

It is always stressful and anxious when your job is on the chopping block. After all, thats how we pay our bills and feed our families. You dont have to be a lefty to feel that. We all do. And hostility often results too. Anyone who has ever gone through a rif can attest to that.
We can only hope the short term pain will be offset by the long term prosperity.

It's called "right sizing." Getting rid of jobs like the assistant to the assistant's assistant, is long overdue.

No tears here. I had dealings with the State Department many years ago. They are a bunch of arrogant, incompetent people. This should have been done years ago.

If "your job is on the chopping block"......
You haven't established yourself as a key employee. I suggest all who are employed do this immediately. Instead of your boss wondering what it is you do around here......make them wonder how would we do this without you.

They saved a pile of money and got rid of a bunch of LGBTQ and deadweight all in one swell foop, a big win for us. Always look at the loss of a job as a stepping stone to a better one, if you want to work in the first place. Many of those longtime Starbucks customers do not.

Most of those people are useless. If you have ever been stuck in a foreign country, as I was, and gone to the Consulate for help, you would now that. I was told, "You got yourself into this problem, get yourself out". NIce! Fortunately, things worked out. I was lucky. What about those who don't have connections?

Yes #20, and a good strategy would be to send your boss an e-mail about what you've done over the last week. In the private sector we call that a status report, and we didn't find the expectation to submit one insulting.
