s the Fed chairman, Jay Powell, going to make it through the weekend? There is talk that he is being forced to resign. President Trump, of course, is on his case daily for not dropping interest rates in line with low inflation. Just a few moments ago, the head of the Federal Housing Finance Agency that regulates Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and oversees the 11 federal home loan banks, William Pulte, issued a statement, saying: “I’m encouraged by reports that Jerome Powell is considering resigning. I think this will be the right decision for America, and the economy will boom.”

It could still turn out the beautiful Tariffs will cause some inflation so Powell is being cautious. That is in his job description.

Not just Trump, multiple ecomomists have held the same opinion about Powell, and he cut rates before the election obviously to try to help Biden. He is a partisan hack who should resign!

The $2.5 Billion he has spent to redecorate the Federal Reserve office buildings is way over budget. But the Gold toilet seats are sure pretty.

Bravo poster #2. Right on the money! This guy should've been gone yesterday after his blatant displays of partisanship. I just read elsewhere tariffs revenues helped bring in a $27 billion surplus for June as opposed to a $50 billion deficit which the "experts" prognosticated. And better yet, the evil increased inflation didn't occur either! Since other members of the Federal Reserve Board have already indicated a rate cut would be wise, 'ol Powell is still clinging to the Boogey Monster inflation in the closet. Yeah right, Powell! Partisan Hack through and through. Resign already.

Powell is the Biden of the Fed. Biden did an extremely crappy job as a president. Trump came in and is doing a good job cleaning up the mess, making Biden look like a real putz. Powell’s replacement will do the same to him.

When Salena Zito arrived at Donald Trump’s campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13, 2024, she was hoping to interview the then-presidential candidate after the main event. She has a long history of speaking to Trump; his number is saved on her phone. But this time, she got a text from White House chief of staff Susie Wiles. “President Trump thinks that five minutes after the rally is too short for an interview,” wrote his campaign manager. “He would really like it if you and your photographers would fly from Butler to Bedminster so you could do a full interview.”

Anyone who has perambulated through the groves of academe has encountered dumb smart people. They are clever, intellectually nimble, but they lack what Aristotle called φρόνησις and what the rest of us call “street smarts” or “practical wisdom.” In academia, dumb smart people often appear to be merely quaint or eccentric. In the realm of politics, they appear first as an exciting novelty, then as a destructive if naive force, cynically manipulated by the very people they hoped to replace. In 1992, the billionaire Ross Perot epitomized the dumb smart political actor when he ran as an Independent candidate against George H. W. Bush and Bill Clinton.

The least diplomatic president in US history is scoring diplomatic victories. Over the last couple of days, Donald Trump has gotten NATO to agree to a defense spending target of 5%, and backed Canada off imposing a digital-services tax on American tech firms. He’s done this while being loathed by many of his foreign interlocutors. In fact, Trump has executed a near-complete inversion of the typical diplomatic formula. He’s not nice. He’s not conflict-averse. He’s not euphemistic. And yet he’s gotten results.

Zohran Mamdani was officially certified as the winner of the June 24 New York City Democratic mayoral primary on Tuesday. He defeated former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo on his way to a victory that is still sending shockwaves through the Democratic Party establishment and beyond. Now, the debate rages over who Mamdani really is. Is he antisemitic or just pro-Palestinian? Is he anti-ICE or just pro-immigrant? However, one thing seems to be increasingly clear. Mamdani is a serious Marxist and that should concern anyone in New York City.

Iran's top Shiite cleric issued a religious decree against President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Sunday, an act some experts called an incitement to terrorism. The fatwa from Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi called on Muslims around the world to take a stand, according to the New York Sun. It states that any individual or government that challenges or endangers the leadership and unity of the global Islamic community (the Ummah) is to be regarded as a "warlord" or a "mohareb," defined as someone who wages war against God. Under Iranian law, those identified as mohareb can face execution, crucifixion, limb amputation, or exile.

A Florida-based diver thought he was doing the right thing when he freed a group of sharks—but instead, it led to a felony charge and, years later, a presidential pardon from Donald Trump. On May 28, Tanner Mansell and John Moore Jr. were two of the sixteen recipients of Trump’s full pardons after the pair were convicted in 2020 of theft of property within special maritime jurisdiction. Mansell, 31, of Jupiter, Fla., reflected on the fateful day leading to his conviction and the eventual unexpected pardon from the White House.

What an impressive sight it was Sunday, when the futuristic B-2 stealth bombers sliced through the powder-blue Missouri sky on their triumphant return to home base in the American heartland after dropping their Massive Ordnance Penetrator bombs on Iran’s underground nuclear sites. The strikes were “a spectacular military success,” President Trump told the world Saturday night, after emerging from the Situation Room. “Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated. Iran, the bully of the Middle East, must now make peace,” he said.

Fetterman (D-Pa.), who lauded the attack, warned that Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-NY) threat reduces the significance of impeachment, which he implied should be reserved for more extreme circumstances. “Of course, no, she knows it. I know it. We all know it,” Fetterman told Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom” when asked about the possibility of Trump getting impeached over the strikes.

It is the Claude Rains School of Constitutional Law where politicians are "shocked, shocked" that Trump is using the authority that they accepted in Democratic predecessors. Fourteen years ago this week, I was in court litigating that very issue when President Barack Obama attacked Libya. Most Democrats supported or were silent on the action.

A federal judge in Los Angeles is trying to shut down ICE enforcement of the nation’s popular immigration laws on the claim that it is illegally “profiling” people in California. Judge Maame Ewusi-Mensah Frimpong, of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, issued two restraining orders late on Friday. Frimpong was nominated by President Joe Biden and is the daughter of two immigrants from Ghana. She was selected by both Harvard and Yale universities.[snip]The suspects’ race and ethnicity, their difficulty speaking English, their location at sites known for hiring illegal immigrants, and their class of work do not meet the “probable cause” requirement for arrests, the judge ruled.

For months, the signs have been impossible to ignore: the Democratic Party is in freefall. Poll after poll shows voters turning away in droves—disillusioned by the party’s radical agenda, frustrated by its lack of leadership, and convinced it no longer represents their values. The 2024 elections were a political earthquake, and in the aftermath, Democrats have been left picking through the rubble of a once-dominant coalition. The party’s “next generation” of leaders—Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Jasmine Crockett—have all the gravitas of a student council president demanding longer lunch periods and less homework. So now the question is: What does a broken party do when it’s staring into the abyss?

It happened one year ago today: Around 6:15 PM, Donald Trump was nearly assassinated at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania—a near-fatal headshot missed by mere millimeters. Trump surviving this assassination attempt is nothing short of miraculous, not only because the shooter was so close, but also because his security detail was questionable. One round did clip his ear. The shots came from a rifle fired by Thomas Matthew Crooks, who was perched on an unsecured rooftop less than 400 yards from the main stage. It was a glaring and inexcusable security breach for the United States Secret Service, which recently suspended six agents for their conduct on that day.
