Old Glory - From Battlefield Utility to
Symbol of Sacrifice

Today we mark Flag Day—a day often overshadowed by barbecues and the early buzz of summer. But let me remind you: this isn’t just about flying a piece of cloth. It’s about honoring a symbol forged in the fire of war, consecrated by sacrifice, and held high by the everyday heroes who’ve carried America on their backs for nearly 250 years. The American flag wasn’t born in glory—it was born out of necessity. When the Continental Congress adopted it on June 14, 1777, it wasn’t destined for classroom walls or Olympic ceremonies. It was a battlefield tool, a banner for soldiers

There is a video on Youtube describing the circumstances in which Francis Scot Key wrote the National Anthem. I'd always heard you should never let the flag touch the ground, I just didn't know why til I watched this video. To sum it up, the deal was if the flag was still flying after a night of fierce bombing by the British, then prisoners on both sides could be switched. The flag was battered and torn and almost fell many times. But a patriot would grab the piece of pole left holding it and wave the flag. They would be shot, usually killed, and someone else would grab it and wave it. This went on all night. In the morning, the flag was still flying, prisoners were exchanged. I wish I could remember the title, that video made me cry. But now I know to never let the flag touch the ground.

Watching this great parade on NewsMax and enjoying every minute. 😀 Had a good belly laugh when one of the commentators was contrasting the crowds in DC vs the protestors in LA and said we should go to Spain, round up some bulls and turn them loose in the streets of LA. Priceless!

A North Carolina state representative has called for President Trump’s beheading. Rep. Julie von Haefen attended the “No Kings” protest yesterday in North Carolina holding an effigy of what appeared to be the decapitated heads of Trump and his senior policy advisor Stephen Miller. “Amazing turnout all across the Triangle today, including this event at the Capitol hosted by @wakedems and @ncdemocrats #lfg #nokings #nokingsprotest #nokingsinamerica #raleigh #raleighnc,” she wrote in a Facebook post. As well as the gruesome heads of Trump and Miller, von Haefen appeared to be waving a banner that said: “In These Difficult Times, Some Cuts May Be Necessary.” Stephen Miller’s forehead was also engraved with a swastika,

Because many in the US allowed Palestinians to demand “their” land back, Mexicans are pulling the same stunt in LA. During the many days of riots and looting in Los Angeles, a new theme has emerged. I saw one illegal alien who looked like the Mexican version of the Michelin Man. It almost required two cameras to film him. He chirped that where he was standing was actually Mexico. This idea would at least explain the Mexican flags. It’s unusual for rioters to hold the flag of the country they want to avoid while they burn the flag of the country where they want to stay.

Democratic lawmakers gathered on Saturday to protest President Donald Trump during the nationwide “No Kings” rallies. As the president marked his 79th birthday and the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army, Democrats spent the day criticizing Trump and denouncing his policies. Randi Weingarten, President of the American Federation of Teachers, joined the “No Kings” rally in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she waved her arms dramatically and drew attention for her over-the-top behavior. During her remarks, she accused Trump of spreading chaos and fear among the American public.

MSNBC’s reaction to the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary says everything you need to know about the left’s view of American patriotism. Instead of celebrating a historic milestone honoring the brave men and women who’ve defended America’s freedoms, MSNBC appeared to be bewildered that the event, which doubled as a 79th birthday celebration for President Donald Trump, wasn’t “tense” or filled with “dark, malevolent energy.” During a segment that aired on Saturday, MSNBC hosts were nearly at a loss for words about the event's huge success, people's good time, and fun and light-heartedness. One of the panelists claimed that Trump rallies are often “tense”

The manhunt for Vance Boelter, 57, the suspect in the Minnesota shootings that left two lawmakers shot and two others dead, took a new turn Saturday as law enforcement detained several of his relatives—including his wife Jennifer—during a traffic stop in Mille Lacs County. Tom Hauser of ABC 5 Eyewitness News reported that the stop occurred between 10 and 11 a.m. Saturday near a convenience store outside Onamia, roughly 90 minutes north of the Twin Cities. “Law enforcement made a traffic stop involving a vehicle carrying several relatives of Vance Boelter, including his wife,” Hauser said. An eyewitness told the station that about a dozen police vehicles converged on the car,

When I saw what Simone Biles said to Riley Gaines last week, I'll admit that I was disappointed. I've been a big fan of our women's gymnastics team since I was a kid, and I always felt like the athleticism and patriotism involved with that transcended politics. I've rooted for every one of those girls, including Biles (even when she had a lot of people hating on her for various reasons over the years). If you'll remember, she attacked the activist and former swimmer for her belief that men don't belong in women's sports. I don't have a problem with Biles having an opinion,

Sen. Alex Padilla (D-Calif.), whom most people couldn’t pick out of a line-up before last week, wants America to believe his little performance during a Homeland Security press conference was totally spontaneous. Just an organic moment of righteous frustration, he claims. But we know better—his whole stunt reeked of a desperate cry for attention, and the more he tries to explain it away, the more obvious that becomes. Appearing on CNN’s State of the Union, Padilla tried spinning his headline-grabbing antics as an innocent attempt to get information. “You can’t script this in Hollywood,” he said with dramatic flair, insisting he just happened to be near the press conference

The officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said top U.S. officials have been in constant communications with Israeli officials in the days since Israel launched a massive attack on Iran in a bid to halt its nuclear program.

The Dem Minnesota state lawmaker who was assassinated by a crazed gunman in a rubber mask crossed party lines just days earlier and made a critical vote revoking health care coverage for illegal migrants. Melissa Hortman, the state House Democratic leader, was the only member of her party to side with Republicans and vote to repeal taxpayer-funded healthcare coverage for adult illegal immigrants as part of this year’s budget bill. She and her husband were gunned down on Saturday in Brooklyn Park just outside of Minneapolis, shortly after the same assassin is believed to have gravely wounded Democratic state Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette.
