The U.S. is sending additional troops to the Middle East in response to a sharp spike in violence between Israel and Hezbollah forces in Lebanon that has raised the risk of a greater regional war, the Pentagon said Monday. Pentagon press secretary Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder would provide no details on how many additional forces or what they would be tasked to do. The U.S. currently has about 40,000 troops in the region. “In light of increased tension in the Middle East and out of an abundance of caution, we are sending a small number of additional U.S. military personnel forward to augment our forces that are already in the region.

Yeah. No troops in harms way. Israel seems to be doing pretty good on its own. Just send them the stuff they need and get the heck out of their way. Oh, by the way, while you're calling Israel, see if you can get an order for about 700 or so pagers. There are a bunch of US "intelligence" and "defense" experts that are signing letters of support for the brain-dead Brandon and his cackling pal that may need them.

It didn't take the Biden-Harris regime long to get us into the mess we are in. I guess her supporters can't wait for her to win in November to finish the job and totally destroy our country. When individuals kill themselves, we look for answers in their DNA, their environments, their personal reactions to feelings of impotent rage, rejection, disappointment, heartbreak, and mental illness. But how to explain group suicide? There are numerous examples, going back to 206 B.C., and these relatively recent cases: In 1943, in the final phase of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, many of the Jewish fighters besieged in the “bunker” at Miła 18 committed mass suicide by ingesting poison rather than surrender to the Nazis. In 1945, about 1,000 residents of Demmin, Germany, committed mass suicide after the Red Army had sacked the town.

If there is one economic dynamic we have talked about on these pages more than the rest, its inflation. {Background} The root causes of inflation are two-fold, monetary policy and energy policy. However, when combined they represent a predictable outcome. Specifically predictable, when it comes to highly consumable goods that require a lot of industrial effort, labor, distribution and warehousing processes. Thus, food inflation was/is worst. Within all of the sectors most vulnerable to upward price pressure as a result of policy (monetary and energy), the main industry impacted by immediate and severe inflation is food, farming and agriculture.

Traditionally purple, if not leaning blue, Long Island’s Nassau and Suffolk counties went solidly red in the 2022 midterms even though state voter rolls show Democrats outnumber Republicans in both places. And that may be a bellwether of where things are headed in similar communities around the country.

A very simple ballot counting rule was affirmed by the Georgia election board on Friday in a 3-2 vote. The “hand count” ballot rule (183-1:12) is very basic and simple. Essentially it says all the paper ballots must be hand counted and matched to the number of people recorded electronically to the vote. Example, if 1,000 votes are electronically counted, there should be 1,000 physical ballots to match. This is not complicated and will not take much time. The ballots are not being checked for voting accuracy, or vote recording/candidate specifics.

Does the United States of America have a functioning president right now? That question isn’t meant to be provocative. Members of both major parties have noted that President Joe Biden seems to have gone AWOL from his official duties as the nation’s executive in chief. In August’s I&I/TIPP Poll of 1,488 registered voters, taken from July 31-Aug. 2, shortly after the Democratic Party forced Biden to step down as his party’s candidate, we asked voters the following question: “Which of the following do you believe is in the best interest of the country?” \
