POTTERVILLE, Mich. — Former President Donald Trump said in an interview with NBC News on Thursday that if he is elected, his administration would not only protect access to in-vitro fertilization but would also have either the government or insurance companies cover the cost of the expensive service for American women who need it.
"We are going to be, under the Trump administration, we are going to be paying for that treatment," Trump said before adding, "We're going to be mandating that the insurance company pay." Asked to clarify whether the government would pay for IVF services or whether insurance companies would do so, Trump reiterated that one option

Claim: Vice President Kamala Harris said that she and President Biden have created 800,000 manufacturing jobs.
“We created over 800,000 new manufacturing jobs. I’ll say that that’s good work,” Harris said in her interview with CNN on Thursday.
Verdict: Harris’s statement is misleading.
U.S. manufacturers increased their payrolls by around 742,000 workers between January 2021 when Biden took office and October 2022 but most of those were not “new” manufacturing jobs as Harris claimed. They were factories re-filling jobs that had been created under President Trump.
What’s more, only 20,000 jobs have been added since October 2022,

Former president Donald Trump on Thursday said he opposes the six-week abortion ban that went into effect in Florida following the 2022 Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization Supreme Court decision when asked whether he will vote for a ballot measure codifying abortion rights in the state’s constitution this fall.
“I think the six-week is too short,” he said. “There has to be more time, and I’ve told them that I want more weeks.”
After a follow-up question, Trump said he will “be voting that we need more than six weeks.”

Vice President Kamala Harris addressed several high-profile flip-flops Thursday night in her first sit-down interview since ascending to the top of the Democratic ticket — but failed to explain exactly why she’s backed away from the progressive positions she staked out during her primary run four years ago.
CNN’s Dana Bash first asked Harris about fracking, which the vice president came out in favor of banning during her ill-fated 2020 presidential primary campaign.
“You know, and I made that clear on the debate stage in 2020 that I would not ban fracking as president

Did you catch Kamala Harris's first "interview" as the Democratic Party nominee for president? It was pretty much everything you'd expect from an interview conducted by CNN. Lots of softball questions, lots of word salad responses. CNN anchor Dana Bash actually asked some decent questions, but what really struck me about the interview was that Kamala Harris, more often than not, avoided answering most of the questions, and Bash didn't seem to be concerned with getting an actual answer.
You knew things were going to be bad when Harris really struggled to give a coherent answer to the cliché question about what she would do on "on day one."

When I fled civil unrest and violence in Mexico City for the United States as a young girl, I had no idea that I would eventually become sucked into another violent regime: the U.S. abortion industry. Unfortunately, the 17 years I spent working as an employee of Planned Parenthood opened my eyes to unspeakable horrors inflicted on babies and moms that Democrat politicians like Kamala Harris facilitate. Today, as Vice President Kamala Harris seeks to win the White House, I hope my story serves as a warning that Harris’ laundry list of incompetency and injustice against immigrants and women make her unfit to lead our nation.

As RedState reported earlier, the clips from CNN of Vice President Kamala Harris giving her first formal sit-down interview since Joe Biden's forced withdrawal from the presidential race in July are starting to drop - and are raising eyebrows along the way.
In the first one, the Democratic presidential nominee received a predictable softball question from CNN anchor Dana Bash about the dramatic change in her policy positions (read: flip-flops) from when she first ran for president in 2019 to the present day.
Harris answered, in part, that "I think the most important and most significant aspect of my policy perspective and decisions is, my values have not changed."

Did you hear that scream? Liberals far and wide are no doubt freaking out right now because the election they thought they had in the bag after the Democratic Party crowned Kamala Harris as its nominee, which sent a jolt of enthusiasm in their party, is now slipping away.
Kamala's honeymoon bounce is now on a downward trajectory, and a slew of battleground state polling is looking really good for Donald Trump. But perhaps even more devastating for the Democrats is that Nate Silver's famous election projection model has Trump ahead for the first time in weeks. That is a nearly ten-point swing in Trump's favor in the projection model

Well, so much for substance!
First off, we have to ask whether this is rumor or fact. Trump campaign adviser Jason Miller alleged on Twitter an hour ago or so that the vaunted Kamala Harris-Tim Walz media launch will only last less than a typical sitcom episode, sans commercials. Miller also claims to be "hearing" that CNN won't release a full transcript of the Dana Bash interview either.
That would be ... strange: Supposedly, the interview was supposed to run for an hour. With two interview subjects taking their first (supposedly) adversarial questions since getting appointed to the ticket, especially on a ticket that has yet to publish its policy agenda,

Harris has pinned her election argument on her experience as a prosecutor, promising the American people that she will hold former President Donald Trump accountable.

Vice President Kamala Harris holds a slim lead over former President Donald Trump after an expected polling bump following last week’s Democratic National Convention, according to a survey released Thursday.
The Wall Street Journal’s latest national poll showed Harris leading Trump by 1 percentage point.
The Democratic nominee pulled 48% support in a head-to-head matchup compared to the Republican nominee’s 47% backing.
When third-party candidates were included in the survey, Harris’ advantage grew to 2 points, 47% to 45%. Both results were within the poll’s 2.5 percentage point margin for error. The survey’s findings suggest that Trump, 78, would likely emerge victorious in the Electoral College race,

Former President Donald Trump has the edge over Vice President Kamala Harris in a close race for the White House, according to a pair of polls published Thursday.
Harris has a more challenging road to the White House than Trump when considering the polls–one from Emerson College/Nexstar Media and another from Fabrizio Ward & Associates– and deeper themes stirring both nationally and in the individual states of Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. For instance, one essential theme to consider is Trump regularly outperforms the polls: In the post-Democratic National Convention (DNC) August 25-28 Emerson College poll, Trump has a 50 percent to 47 percent lead

The Harris-Walz campaign has hired liberal activist the Rev. Jennifer Butler to be its new head of faith outreach, with Butler confirming the appointment on social media and in an interview with Religion News Service.
Butler is a longtime liberal activist who argued in 2022 that White supremacists have "hijacked" the Christian faith, and has said that faith calls us to "resist." She is the founder of the nonprofit Faith in Public Life, which claims to advance the "moral imperative for a just, inclusive and equitable country." Kamala Harris and her new running mate, Tim Walz, will impoverish America.
That’s the best way to understand one of their most important – yet least-known – policy pipe dreams. As vice president, Harris has backed so-called “net zero,” which means offsetting every iota of manmade greenhouse gases. Walz, as governor, has pushed one of the most aggressive net-zero policies in America, mandating no carbon emissions in Minnesota by 2040.
This promise is economic suicide.
Not only is it unachievable, but ramping up unreliable and costly energy sources like wind and solar while eliminating reliable and affordable options like natural gas and nuclear power is disastrous.

Kamala Harris has done more flips than a transgender Olympic gymnast. Here’s a sampling:
In her aborted 2019 campaign, she promised to ban fracking. That’s not a popular position in swing state Pennsylvania, and so now she promises not to.
She used to support “Medicare for All,” a great-sounding name for a program that would abolish private health insurance and financially wreck the existing Medicare program. Now she says “never mind.”
She mocked President Trump’s construction of a border wall as a “medieval vanity project.” While Vice President, she supported her boss’s abandonment and demolition of what Trump had constructed, and welcomed the ensuing invasion by over ten million illegal aliens.

The elements of an economic plan presented by Kamala Harris consist of price controls, higher taxes, greater government spending, interventions, regulations, and subsidies paid for by printing a currency devalued by high inflation. These elements constitute “21st-century socialism.” The Kamala Harris–Tim Walz economic plan is the most radical socialist economic plan ever announced by the Democrats.
It was Spanish-American philosopher George Santayana who said, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” Why cite him? Because Harris and Walz don’t seem to be able to remember the past, much less learn from it. They want to take the U.S. back 75 years

When people ask why we need so-called assault weapons, most of us default to point out that we don't have to illustrate a need to exercise our rights. That is completely true and I'm one of those who has said it time and time again. We don't, nor should we. If we're required to show a need, then it's not a right in the first place. That was the core issue at the heart of the Bruen case, really. The state demanded someone show a need and the Supreme Court said you can't do that.
That extrapolates out to things like AR-15s.

Sorry, Mark Zuckerberg: Your letter to Jim Jordan isn’t remotely the end of the story on Facebook censorship, past or future; indeed it raises more questions.
For now, we’ll focus on the suppression of The Post’s Hunter Biden scoops in the runup to the 2020 election.
You now regret that, but to truly atone, you need to release internal files and emails exposing exactly how your staff caved into pressure, just as Elon Musk did with the Twitter Files.
There’s a heck of lot we still don’t know about what went on — and we were the ones your company targeted.

Savannah, Ga.—Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, will sit down Thursday for their first major television interview of their presidential campaign as the duo travels in southeast Georgia on a bus tour.
The interview with CNN’s Dana Bash will give Harris a chance to quell criticism that she has eschewed uncontrolled environments, while also giving her a fresh platform to define her campaign and test her political mettle ahead of an upcoming debate with former President Donald Trump set for Sept. 10. But it also carries risk as her team tries to build on momentum from the ticket shakeup following Joe Biden’s exit

On Wednesday’s broadcast of CNN’s “AC360,” host Anderson Cooper said that by doing her first interview since joining the 2024 race with her running mate, 2024 Democratic vice presidential candidate Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D), 2024 Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris does subtract from the amount of time that CNN Chief Political Correspondent and host Dana Bash “can ask her, directly, questions and follow up with her directly.”
Cooper said, “Paul, I want to talk about the interview tomorrow that’s going to be airing. Dana Bash is doing it here for CNN. It’s Harris and Walz. Harris is obviously being criticized by some for not doing the interview solo.

On Monday, Trump visited the Arlington cemetery and laid a wreath while FJB laid on the sand in Rehoboth Beach.
It was the third anniversary of Biden’s surrender of Afghanistan to the Taliban.
FJB also gave the terrorist organization billions of dollars in military equipment as a tribute. Finally, he did nothing to protect our military, leaving 13 troops to die in a war that had not seen a military death in a year. Later, Biden denied that any soldiers died on his watch. After visiting the graves and honoring the troops, Trump later got on Trump Force One and flew to Michigan.

Former President Donald Trump is again taking the lead in the 2024 race for the White House.
According to a new Polymarket poll, Trump holds a two-percent advantage over Vice President Kamala Harris (50 to 48 percent). The same survey also found that Trump’s chances of winning crucial swing states are much higher than Harris’s.
In Georgia and North Carolina, Trump has a 61 percent chance of winning the state compared to Harris’ 39 percent. In Arizona, the former president has a 55 percent chance of winning compared to the 45 percent chance for Harris. In Nevada, Trump’s chances are 53 percent, Harris’s chances are 47 percent, and in Pennsylvania,

Grasping for relevance, California Gov. Gavin Newsom is in the midst of a bit of a temper tantrum this week with the legislature - threatening to convene a special session if they don't pass his proposal to further regulate California's oil and gas industry. Industry analysts say that the proposal, which would force refineries to "maintain a minimum fuel reserve to avoid supply shortages," would lead to increased prices for drivers in California, Arizona, and Nevada. This asinine proposal is from Newsom's California Energy Commission (CEC), which was formed in 2023 after a Newsom called a special session in 2022 demanding that legislators "do something"

So much for “no means no.”
That’s the message from the state Court of Appeals, which ruled last week that New Yorkers don’t need an excuse to cast an absentee ballot by mail when they’re otherwise able to vote in person — even though the voters themselves have directly rejected such a measure.
Mail-in voting is hardly a revolutionary idea: Oregon since 2000 has conducted elections exclusively by mail, and several other states have followed, including Vermont.
But it involves an important balancing act, as state officials seek to maximize election participation while minimizing — to varying levels of success — fraud.

After a week in hiding since being crowned the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee, Kamala Harris kicked off a two-day Georgia campaign bus tour with her running mate Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D) with a stop at Liberty County High School in Hinesville where she spoke to members of the school band who played the school fight song for her and Walz.
An animated Harris spoke in a word salad about leadership, the future and how much the country was depending on the success of the high school band as she made exaggerated facial expressions and gesticulated with her arms and hands.

Michigan and Wisconsin, two key battleground states, declined to remove former Independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s name from their general election ballots this November despite his requests and withdrawal from the race.
Kennedy announced last Friday that he was suspending his presidential campaign and would endorse former President Trump. He said he would seek to remove his name from the ballots in states that could theoretically determine the outcome of the election but would keep his name on ballots that are either solidly Democrat or solidly Republican.

While at times it’s been hard to pin down just what Kamala Harris stands for – somehow she’s both a tough prosecutor and an advocate for defunding the police – she is at her core a hard-left progressive. But her campaign team, which includes the mainstream media, is putting in the extra hours to recast her as a centrist.
Don’t fall for the lie.
In the weeks following her party coronation, never-received-a-vote-outside-of-California Harris has been presented to voters as a “sober-minded centrist.” Other media outlets and personalities have eagerly covered her fundamental transition.
She no longer opposes fracking.

I have to say that I'm liking JD Vance – in fact, he's killing it. Now, I've always liked the guy. I've met him a couple of times and he's not a stiff. He’s a normal human being, as one would expect from an Ohioan (I am one too, despite my California residence for the last half-century). He doesn't have that weird vibe you get from a lot of politicians, that if they take off their suit they'll disappear. The Democrats may think he's weird, or at least claim he is, but that's only because they are weirdos.

Republican vice presidential nominee Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) told Vice President Kamala Harris she “can go to hell” Wednesday if she wanted to criticize former President Donald Trump for attending a ceremony honoring the fallen 13 servicemembers who died during the Afghanistan withdrawal.
Vance’s swipe came after the Trump campaign reportedly got into an altercation with a cemetery official at Arlington National Cemetery, who tried to stop them from filming and photographing in Section 60, the burial site for military personnel killed while fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq.
In an interview with CNN, a spokesperson for Harris, Michael Tyler, called the incident “pretty sad” and “not surprising.”

A shocking video shows a crew of gun-wielding men storm through a Colorado apartment building reportedly overrun by a dangerous Venezuelan prison gang.
The group of heavily armed men — including three armed with handguns and one with a rifle — enter the troubled apartment complex in the Denver suburb of Aurora and break into a unit, the clip obtained by KDVR shows.
The footage was captured earlier this month, shortly before a shootout at the complex, The Edge at Lowry, severely injured one person and damaged multiple cars, according to the local news station.

Vice President Kamala Harris called for the removal of police officers from schools in 2019 to address racial disparities in student discipline, according to remarks she made during her first presidential campaign.
In a 2019 interview during her initial run for the presidency, then-Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) argued for eliminating on-campus police presence to address racial inequities.
In a recently resurfaced clip of the event, Harris voices her concerns about the disproportionate rates of suspensions and expulsions among black and brown students, calling for a reevaluation of how discipline is enforced in schools.

Tucker Carlson has once again captured the attention of the internet, this time by mocking Kamala Harris after she posted an alleged letter from him on X promoting gun control.
The letter, which appeared to support gun control measures, had the internet buzzing, but not for the reasons Harris likely hoped.
The letter Harris posted, supposedly penned by “Tucker from Alabama,” gushed about free speech and the Biden administration’s efforts to promote “common sense” gun laws.
The letter reads:
Vice President Harris,
One of my absolute favorite things in America is how people of different backgrounds and beliefs have the freedom to communicate with each other.

Don't look now, but the New York Times sounds worried, too. Thus far, Democrats have a lot more billionaire money to fund their operations and those of their assorted super-PACs. Arabella in particular leverages massive contributions from the ultra-wealthy Left to fund all sorts of progressive storefronts, as Scott Walter explained almost exactly four months ago in a podcast interview.
Now that the world's wealthiest magnate may join the other side, though, suddenly it's time for Panic in the Demsco:
Elon Musk, the world’s richest person, has hired a Republican operative with expertise in field organizing to help steer his political work, a move that suggests that Mr. Musk

Pro-Palestinian students have assumed control of student government at the University of Michigan with the return to fall classes, suspending funding for student groups until the administration agrees to divest from, and boycott, Israel.
The New York Times reported Tuesday:
At the University of Michigan, many student activities are usually funded or subsidized by the Central Student Government, known as C.S.G., an elected undergraduate and graduate council that decides how to dole out roughly $1.3 million annually to about 400 groups.

California Governor Gavin Newsom will make the final decision on a bill that would make illegal aliens eligible for $150,000 in home loans for first-time buyers, after the State Assembly passed a final version of the bill on Wednesday. (X) Assemblyman Bill Essayli (R-Corona) helped lead Republican opposition to the bill, but Democrats passed it by a three-to-one veto-proof majority, sending it to the governor’s desk — and drawing attention to the party’s pattern of creating incentives for illegal migration by heaping taxpayer-funded benefits onto people who are not supposed to be in the country at all.
