The Harris campaign claimed on Monday Donald Trump's team is pushing back on leaving the microphones on for the blockbuster debate with Vice President Kamala Harris in an effort to keep the Republican presidential nominee from embarrassing himself.
It comes as the ex-president is sowing doubt over whether he would show up at all for the showdown.
Harris and Trump are set to go head-to-head in their first debate in just over two weeks on September 10 on ABC News.

Former President Donald Trump appeared amused by Virginia Senate candidate Hung Cao's name during a campaign pit stop in the politician's home state.
'This is a great gentleman. I love his name: Hung Cao,' Trump, 78, said at a restaurant in Virginia alongside the candidate, who moved to the state by way of West Africa as a refugee in the wake of the Vietnam War.
'I love that name. And that name alone can get you elected,' a visibly tickled Trump said during the event Monday, spurring patrons, and even 52-year-old Cao, to laugh.

The White House on Monday revealed who is running the country with President Joe Biden on his second week of vacation.
'You know better than that,' National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby scolded the reporter who asked who was running the country.
'The president is on vacation, but you can never unplug and from a job like that. Nor does he try to,' Kirby said in a zoom briefing with reporters. 'He's very much in command,' he noted of Biden.
He pointed out Biden spoke with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday and talked to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday as proof the president is working.

Not to mention, I'm getting all sorts of Harris texts. As it's irking me enormously, so I hope the Trump campaign is building on their small, quiet ad success. I saw a few more of them a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to share it with you all, but I just hadn't gotten around to it.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a letter on Monday that the Biden-Harris administration repeatedly pressured his company — which includes Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, and more — to censor content that is protected free speech.
Zuckerberg made the admission in a letter to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) this week in which he said that his goal moving forward was to “be neutral and not play a role one way or another” for either any political party or ideology. He said he doesn’t even want the appearance of playing a role and will not be making political contributions.

Allies of President Joe Biden didn’t want Kamala Harris as vice president in 2020. Democrat donors, party insiders, and the media were calling for her removal from the ticket when Biden’s 2024 campaign began.
Just last month a prominent progressive lawmaker admitted that “a lot of” Harris’s Democrat colleagues were openly calling for her removal.
It was so bad that the outcry for Kamala to be removed from the campaign was far more prevalent than those demanding the removal of Biden himself, despite the fact that he had clear cognitive and motor issues.

Most of us on the outside looking in last week knew the Democrat National Convention (DNC) would be nothing more than a giant choreographed circus. Nothing left to chance, nothing left unscripted. Many people, if they are not attending a political convention as delegates, participate as volunteers. It is a great way to see the process up close and personal: the good, the bad, and the ugly. But one young Democrat volunteer did not come away from her convention experience feeling fired up, energized, or ready to go out and campaign for the candidate of her choice. Instead, she feels the exact opposite.

Giggly Kamala Harris has always had a problem with people thinking she was stupid, a lightweight, a ditz, a non-thinker.
After all, she was the daughter of a Stanford professor, but somehow she couldn't get into that school, even with affirmative action.
And she got her start in politics at Willie Brown's knee, so to speak. It wasn't her brains she was selling when she 'dated' Willie.
She's since done her best to dodge reporters and avoid interviews, doing only an informercial or two with her running mate, Tim Walz, and not releasing any policy programs.
But her minions aren't doing nothing, particularly on matters of getting her campaign message out to voters.

The Minnesota State Fair is going on this week, and among all the rides and vendors is the "Never Walz" booth, run by Action 4 Liberty MN, and they are giving the governor a piece of their minds — and drawing crowds while doing it.

Kamala Harris has some big problems to surmount in convincing people to vote for her.
She's too afraid, apparently, to enunciate her policies or even to do an interview or a press conference. She's so desperate she's even putting out an ad that is full of former President Donald Trump's wall that she was against. How does she think that any Americans will fall for that? That's an incredible admission of how wrong the Biden-Harris team has been and an acknowledgment that Trump was right.
The biggest problem that Harris has in the election is trying to explain to the American people why they should vote for her now

At a time when we’re experiencing so many threats like an uncertain economy, threatened allies, and wars in multiple areas, it’s crucial for America to have a leader who is fully engaged and ready to take on any challenge. Unfortunately, we have Joe Biden.
Sure, he’s the lamest of lame ducks and is probably in “forget it” mode after the way the Democrats so unceremoniously forced him out of his reelection campaign, but you’d think that Biden would be around to address the many crises happening right now. When it comes to "choice," it would appear that the Democrats want to limit one's choices to when and where one can have an abortion. That doctrine goes beyond the debate over when life occurs. Democrats are perfectly thrilled to limit one's choices everywhere else, including elections. If you are a progressive, you will have two options in the upcoming election: Harris-Walz or Harris-Walz. Or you can always write in Harris-Walz.
True, Harris landed on the ballot without so much as a primary or an election. But any leftists planning on voting against Trump may find themselves with few if any, options in their particular precincts.

Ronald Reagan famously warned us that "freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction." For many, this may have sounded like hyperbole, but in 2024 we find ourselves at a crossroads where that sentiment couldn't be more relevant. This time, freedom isn't just one generation away—it's one election away.
Make no mistake about it, the principles that have defined our nation for over two centuries—limited government, individual liberties, and free-market capitalism—are under siege. But now, the radical left is so emboldened that they no longer even try to hide their intentions; they openly advocate for policies that would fundamentally alter the fabric of our republic.

People are funny about racoons. These flea-bitten, sometimes rabid, garbage-eating vermin with no visible means of support, elicit, in some people, feelings of love.
A woman in Canada was feeding dozens every day. When she died – of cancer, not rabies – her dying request to her husband was that he continue to feed the racoons. He has done so. And they’ve been fruitful, or at least they’ve multiplied.
A woman in Indiana feeds 25 or more a day. She buys 50-pound bags of dog food for them.
A woman in Colorado found what she called “a baby racoon.” She took it home and adopted it.

One of many examples is the “very fine people” lie, a false assertion that President Trump called neo-Nazis such a thing, yet is a standard Democrat talking point and blatant nonsense. President Joe Biden, somewhat awake and alert long past his bedtime, told this whopper, along with many other falsehoods running across his teleprompter, at last week’s Democratic National Convention.

President and former Democratic Party candidate Joe Biden made clear his disdain for the current U.S. Supreme Court by proposing that justices have term limits and by imposing a “code of ethics” on its members. A plurality of Americans agree, the latest I&I/TIPP Poll shows, but the poll reveals a sharp political schism emerging over the issue.
Depending on which party wins, the next Congress will decide whether the limits on the justices will go into effect or whether the plan gets deep-sixed. For the Supreme Court, the stakes will be high.

The sound of explosions rang out in central Kyiv on Monday morning during rush hour as Ukraine’s military warned of a massive Russian missile and drone attack following waves of drone attacks in the early hours.
The air force told Ukrainians Russia had 11 TU-95 strategic bombers in the air and confirmed the launch of a number of missiles. Outside the Ukrainian capital, Reuters reporters heard the sound of air defenses engaging targets.
Local authorities reported explosions in the northwestern city of Lutsk and said an apartment block had been damaged and that they were verifying possible casualties.

Vice Presidential nominee Senator JD Vance, appears on Meet the Press for an argumentative debate on Trump policy. On the issue of tariffs, this might have been JD Vance’s first opportunity to set the record straight about what tariffs did in the first Trump administration.
Unfortunately, because JD Vance did not have the data to refute the NBC talking points, he missed an opportunity to set the record straight. Tariffs did not raise prices and consumers did not pay tariff rates in the first Trump administration. Factually, the exact opposite happened. Prices dropped when Trump tariffs were put into place, the reasons are explained after the interview.

Dr. Anthony Fauci was hospitalized earlier this month with West Nile virus for nearly a week before the 83-year-old continued his recovery at home, a spokesperson for the official shared.
The former head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) contracted the mosquito-borne illness but is expected to fully recover, a spokesperson told Fox News. The top COVID-19 official ran the NIAID for four decades and consulted both former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden’s administrations during the pandemic before retiring in 2022.

An unusually cold weather system from the Gulf of Alaska interrupted summer along the West Coast on Saturday, bringing snow to mountains in California and the Pacific Northwest and prompting the closure of part of a highway that runs through a national park. Parts of Highway 89 through Lassen Volcanic National Park in California were shut down after an estimated 3 inches of snow fell overnight, according to the National Weather Service.

Do you think the DNC went well? I'm not sure the Democrats did. Reading between the lines of what was said and done between all that "joy," I think the Democrats are panicking, and for good reason. They aren't selling themselves well. If you think this is good, I've got sour news for you. This is the kind of thing that spurs Democrats into action. They live by the mantra "by any means necessary," and if the Democrats are the cornered animal they're hinting they are, then they're about to resort to some really brutal tactics to hold onto power.
The signs are all there. Bizarre time change-ups, internal discord,

Vice presidential hopeful Tim Walz has a variety of troubling obsessions, but none so disturbing as his deep and abiding affection for communist China.
Long before the Democratic Minnesota governor was pushing for tampons in boys’ bathrooms or running the gay-straight alliance for teenagers, he was waxing poetic about the People’s Republic of China as a nation where “everybody shares,” the Washington Free Beacon reported.
Walz allegedly told this and other disturbing lies to students at the Nebraska public school where he taught social studies in November 1991.

Elon Musk’s SpaceX will rescue two astronauts who have been stranded in space since June after their Boeing Starliner spacecraft encountered problems.
NASA administrator Bill Nelson announced at a press conference on Saturday that astronauts Butch Wilmore and Sunita Williams will return to Earth in February of next year on the SpaceX Crew-9 mission. Wilmore and Williams have been stranded aboard the International Space Station (ISS) since their Starliner spacecraft experienced five thruster malfunctions and five helium leaks.

Fresh off a week of daily counterprogramming events and an effort to steal the spotlight from his new opponent, Donald Trump and his campaign are seeking to harness that pace in the lead-up to November — with plans to aggressively ramp up the former president’s schedule, hone his debate skills and cultivate a new ground-game strategy tied to the early voting states, sources familiar with the strategy shift told CNN.
The new approach is itself an acknowledgment that Trump’s campaign has struggled to adapt to the fast-changing political landscape after President Joe Biden ended his campaign less than four months before Election Day.

Last week, Vice President Kamala Harris unveiled her long-awaited economic plan telling supporters, “We were facing one of the worst economic crises in modern history” when she and President Joe Biden took the oath of office. Even liberal economists panned it.
Despite the bad reviews, her new communications director Monday doubled-down, claiming that back then, “the economy was in the ditch.” But was it? Obviously, the Harris strategy is to offset the economic failures of her administration by blaming greedy corporations and the “other guy.” But the other guy has plenty of actual data to refute what amounts to economic disinformation if he chooses to use it.
