Workers at a Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee, voted overwhelmingly to join the United Auto Workers, becoming the first Southern autoworkers outside of the Big Three to do so in a region long resistant to unionization, the labor group announced late Friday.
The UAW declared victory as votes continued to be tallied, with its unofficial count at 2,628 for joining the union and 985 opposed, or 73% to 27%.
"Volkswagen thanks its Chattanooga workers for voting in this election," the company said in a statement acknowledging that workers had voted in favor of union representation. "We will await certification

they'll be sorry ... unions today are nothing but extensions of the communist movement and always have been since 1917 so, pretty soon they'll be on the picket line after bringing on a strike demanding more ridiculous and expensive "improvements" to whatever company is their employer ... it will be nothing but a vicious circle of strikes and demands brought on by the national union HQ to disrupt and decapitate their "Capitalist" enemies, the privately owned companies that employ union labor

VW was almost priced out of the market for average people before. The process will continue.

The workers got greedy and think they’ll get the money that the Big Three got. Wait until they see how much their dues are for what they get in return. This is because VW was raising the health insurance premiums by 15%. In return now, they will get more robots. How long will it be before VW closes shop in Tennessee after the first strike? And will these workers be happy seeing a portion of their dues going to Communist Democrat candidates? I give it ten years.

Wait until they witness the bottom ten percent of their work force running the show, with the biggest idiot in the plant becoming the union steward. Bad move, folks.

Tip your hat to inflation. Let’s add another 10% to those MSRPs. America prospered because transportation was inexpensive. Today even the government is conspiring to increase the cost of transportation. Americans are wrecking their future with high car payments. Everyday ordinary working Americans get poorer, except autoworkers.

The VW management kept encouraging their employees to unionize because they think they're getting German unions. They're in for a surprise, and I won't be surprised if that plant gets closed in a few years.

Remember, the union leadership does what is their best interest. Not the members best interest. Is TN a right to work state?

If you want to study the best example of American union performance, look at the teachers' unions. Teachers get overly abundant raises every few years, ridiculous benefits, all taxpayer funded, all vote democrat to the last person and most importantly, their work product is in the tank right down there next to the poorest of third world countries. The majority of public school students are morons.

I’ve posted my experiences with labor unions here before but to repeat and show why I don’t like unions: Dad was a reluctant member of the UAW. When they said Strike, he was without a paycheck except for a pittance of strike pay. Those were hard times for us. Fast forward to high school days - I worked weekends at the Kroger store for $0.89/hour. I had to join Retail Clerks union and pay $2/week as union dues. They did bupkiss for me. I got a college degree and advanced in the private sector on merit.
