Early this morning, the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, MD, collapsed after a cargo ship collided with a support column, causing the bridge to collapse. The Francis Scott Key Bridge is a significant commuter route carrying the Baltimore Beltway I-695 over the Patapsco River at the southern end of the Baltimore Harbor.
There are no official reports on casualties yet; however, there are unconfirmed cars in the water and reports of several construction workers unaccounted for. As of just before 5 a.m. EDT, rescue crews have not pulled anyone out of the water. A road crew was fixing potholes on the bridge at the time. Two people were rescued

Without any evidence, Without any investigation, the Maryland Governor's immediate response was "no terrorists attack"
Didn't we think the same thing when the first plane hit the Twin Towers?

This morning I saw a video of the collision and also the track of the ship. From the track it was headed for the center of the bridge then veered right straight toward the pier. The surface of the water was calm. Many questions.

From viewing this video, the ship was moving to the side----then the rear was swung around, the vessel lined up perfectly to hit the support column head on. From my view, the ship appeared very much under control for the rear to be swung around in that fashion. I think we need to get some serious questions answered about this.

They did send a mayday which got the bridge closed and saved a few. They also dropped anchor(s) which could have caused the sudden change of course. It looked that it impacted to the port side of the bow rather than head on. Still would not rule out sabotage.

Probably a horrible accident but in present America who can trust the government for the cause?

Check out this link, best info I’ve seen so far. https://youtu.be/N39w6aQFKSQ?si=hewgHg6dESxr-BBB
It is apparent the ship lost power. Maybe the chief engineer was named Mohammed? But losing power wouldn’t ensure the ship hits the bridge. The marinetraffic data from ship’s GPS position as reported via the AIS system shows the ship on course in the channel until it lost power, then it drifts to the right. Windy.com reports that the wind at this time was 6 knots from the northeast, which would have the wind hitting the port side of the ship almost dead on. With a loss of power and rudder control, the wind would cause the ship to veer to the right. The ship also slowed from 8.7 knots to about 7.5 knots at the time of impact. Black soot from the stack indicates the engine was probably restarted in reverse and given max throttle in an attempt to slow the ship. The port side anchor was also deployed. Everything so far points to a malfunction causing a loss of power and control over the ship. Yeah, this bridge could be a strategic target, but that doesn’t make this incident an attack. There is probably a cell already here thanks to FJB’s open border that was tasked to bring it down, but now they will be available to do something else when the attacks come.

Please read "The Maritime Executive".
Over the last few years quite a few "propulsion incidents" involving "green" or even contaminated bunker fuels.
This ship was under contract to Maersk, one of the biggest container lines in the world.
Big ESG supporters.
Draw your own conclusions...

Lessee. Boat heading for the channel under the bridge. Power goes off. Boat continues on course (they are heavy).: power back on, engines go full throttle.(see black smoke, boat takes a sharp swing to aim at pier, power goes off. Smells deliberate to me

Lara Logan is an idiot if she thinks this was a terrorist attack. The ship was cited for a power loss last summer and the video shows that's just what happened here. The ship lost power which means it lost its ability to power itself and lost the ability to steer. The ship dropped an anchor in an attempt to stop, but because the ship is 985 feet long with 95,000 tons of containers on board, stopping this thing with no power would take miles to do. It drifted into the bridge as a result. Black smoke from the stacks on the ship indicate they were able to restart the engines and those engines were running at full power in order to gain control, but power went out again, and the ship drifted into the support structures of the bridge.

Re #9’s comment, yes it appears the engine went full throttle, but GPS data shows the ship’s speed decreasing from 8.7 to 7.5 knots. So engine was likely at full throttle in reverse. Also assuming the prop spins counter clockwise in reverse this would contribute to pulling the stern to port (called prop walk) along with the six knot northeast wind pushing the ship to starboard.

In San Francisco bay, large ships are escorted by tub boats. Last time the Bay Bridge was hit, the tugboat operator was on the spot.

The alternate route is thru a tunnel, and hazardous materials are usually banned from tunnels. Going to be a long drive around for all hazmat.

7, thank you.
Every bad thing that happens isn't terrorism, everyone. Sometimes bad things just happen.
We'll hear more later but the fact that no one immediately claimed this as an attack leads me to believe it was not. There's no point in destroying things and not laying claim to the destruction.

# 16 - I'm always puzzled by people who go to any site and complain about stories or comments on that site. I would think if they want that kind of control, they'd create their own site and let the rest of us comment as we'd like.

Should have had a harbor pilot to pilot the boat. You are not supposed to traverse any obstacles without the harbor pilot.
Exactly, and the harbor pilots' union in Baltimore sees to it that nothing moves around that harbor without one of them onboard - they make BIG money for very little work (especially at that time of night). Wasn't Lara discredited with her interview of the liar who claimed to be watching the Benghazi attack from the embassy wall? This was an accident, and all that hazardous material (which she itemizes for added drama) will simply have to take the Beltway around the city - the way it traveled before the bridge was built. This was no more a terrorist attack than the Bentley that crashed and exploded at Niagara Falls. To believe it was is to say that someone in the switchboard room determined that, "If I kill the power...right...NOW, the ship will drift out of the channel and strike the support column, knocking down the whole bridge."

Remember this as well: The Rashomon effect happens when the exact same event is described in significantly different (often contradictory) ways by people who were there and who witnessed it, but maybe from a different perspective. We're lucky to have amazing technology to sort things out but we need to be patient and not jump the shark-- hard to do when we're living a social media life.
Most of my L-dotter friends are right---the government lies to us so blatantly and so much that we no longer know what to believe.

I hope there will be serious investigations of the entire crew. Someone very knowledgeable about the navigation/engine could cause the rudder to jam.

Re #20, the information that we have says they lost propulsion, and also all power. If that's correct, the pilots on the bridge would have no control, and be at the mercy of winds, tides, currents.
One source says that the anchor was deployed at the last minute but couldn't stop them in time. That is probably what the pilots would do with loss of propulsion in a tight space like that.
Error, or mechanical failure, or incompetence in the engineering spaces or sabotage?
There are at least 1,000 incompetent fools out there for every actual saboteur, maybe 10,000 incompetents. My bet is on some incompetent fools made some stupid, but irreversible error in the engine spaces.

Too early to tell, but I invoke Hanlon's Razor.
That being said, I think the terrorists just found a new arrow to put into their quiver. Take over a plane and ram it into a building. Take over a container ship and ram it into a bridge.

I will reiterate, then rest my case. Look at the course of the ship from the time it left the dock. Then, a large, out-of-control ship manages to score a direct hit on a bridge pillar.

Exactly #1. The dopey democrat governor's immediate no terrorist attack response without any evidence is unwarrented. Also, the dopey democrat mayor saying the fake news press needs to stop showing the footage of what happened. Why? We the people need to be informed about things like this but with democrats in charge we may never get the full story.
