Federal court deals devastating blow to
Voting Rights Act

A federal appeals court issued a ruling Monday that could gut the Voting Rights Act, saying only the federal government — not private citizens or civil rights groups — is allowed to sue under a crucial section of the landmark civil rights law. The decision out of the 8th Circuit will almost certainly be appealed to the Supreme Court. But should it stand, it would mark a dramatic rollback of the enforcement of the law that led to increased minority representation in American politics. The appellate court ruled that there is no “private right of action” for Section 2 of the law — which prohibits voting practices that

Not sure what to think about this. But……,, it could effectively end the cavalcade of nuisance lawsuits to prevent states from securing elections and being heard by partisan hack judges.

Didn’t the courts spurn lawsuits challenging the Kenyan’s citizenship status on grounds that you had to show personal harm to have standing? Why can’t that logic be applied here?

Never understood why we need special "voting rights" kaws saying minorities can vote. As laws are not written for everyone, not one specific race, we shouldn't need special laws. Same for minority voting districts. The Constitution does not say there needs to be representation based on race. Only on population.

My view is that it isn't 1965 anymore. I mean Obama got elected twice so why are we keeping laws on the books that are no longer needed? Although the way this country is transitioning, we might still ned the VRA for white people.

The real problem is liberal judges who ignore the law and judge based on their personal opinions. Democrats are great at cherry picking them. Putting this in the hands of the AG will obviously be partisan depending on who’s in power. Give it to the State Legislatures who are elected by the people. It will still be partisan but it’s much easier to get rid of them than a judge or AG.

Here’s How A Wave Of Dem Retirements

House Republicans appear to be in a better position to capitalize off of a wave of congressional retirements, as there are more Democratic-held open seats in swing districts that pose an opportunity for the GOP to flip in 2024. There are currently 31 House members who are not seeking another term in the lower chamber, including 20 Democrats and 11 Republicans — nearly all of whom hold seats that are considered safe for the GOP. Four Democratic-held open seats in battleground districts in Michigan, Virginia and California are most likely to flip red, while several other seats are also up for grabs by the GOP in 2024, according to

As I write this, the debate between Gavin Newsom and Ron DeSantis is entering the final stretch, but short of a miracle turnaround, a winner has already emerged. DeSantis has hammered Newsom with facts throughout the night, and to Sean Hannity's credit, he's put up graphics with each question that have helped expose the California governor's continued lies. Once things end, there will be a lot to cover (and a heck of a lot to fact-check on Newsom's part), but one moment was just too good to not go ahead and share. In it, DeSantis began to recollect a conversation he had with a man who had

MoveOn is the progressive activist group that was founded back in 1998 to convince people Bill Clinton hadn’t done anything terribly serious with Monica Lewinsky, at least nothing impeachment worthy. They ultimately lost that battle but the group still exists to pull PR stunts like this one from a couple days ago. But it seems the group is having some money problems as they just announced they’d be laying off 18 workers. The liberal activist organization MoveOn laid off at least 18 employees this week, in the latest sign of a slowdown in donations from small donors to left-leaning causes and candidates. “We are retooling our team to meet the urgent needs

Trian said that it spoke with Iger this week, and that Disney extended an offer for Trian to meet with its board of directors. However, the board also said that it would not extend an offer for Peltz to join it as a director.

JERUSALEM — Israel and Hamas on Thursday agreed to extend a temporary truce by another day minutes before it was set to expire, said Qatar, which has been mediating between the two sides. Negotiations on extending it came down to the wire, with last-minute disagreements over the hostages to be freed by Hamas in exchange for another day of a halt in fighting. Word of the extension came just as the truce was to expire at 7 a.m. (0500 GMT) Thursday. The Qatari Foreign Ministry said the truce was being extended under the same terms as in the past, under which Hamas has released 10 Israeli hostages per day in exchange

Republicans pushing for Joe Biden's impeachment publicized an email from a bank investigator who was alarmed by 'unusual' and 'erratic' activity in Hunter Biden's financial transactions with a Chinese company. The money from the flagged transactions then trickled down to Joe Biden in the form of a $40,000 'loan repayment' check from James and Sara Biden in 2017, say Republicans. According to bank records obtained by Republicans, a money trail started with a $5 million payment from Chinese oil giant CEFC, a Hunter venture, through several Biden-connected entities and resulted in the $40,000 deposit into Joe's account. The Bank Secrecy Act manager wrote in a bombshell June 2018 email released Wednesday

Say what? As bad as we expected the Antony Blinken Lecture Tour in Jerusalem to be, even I wouldn’t have predicted that a US Secretary of State would have said this to a country victimized by a massive terror attack that killed 1400 people. That is, if Blinken actually told the Israelis that they don’t have enough “credit” to fight Hamas to the finish. The transcript comes from the Times of Israel, which translated it from a Hebrew transcript leaked to Israel’s Channel 12 News. Could something have gotten lost in translation? Perhaps, but it’s not the only eyebrow-raising part of the exchange, either. It begins with Blinken
