The United Auto Workers (UAW) will end its strike against the Big Three as the labor union has reportedly reached a tentative agreement with General Motors (GM). The UAW had, in the last few days, reached similar deals with Ford and Stellantis. On Monday morning, reports circulated that the UAW had reached a deal with GM. According to details available, the deal mimics many components of the union’s deal with Ford, where base wages will increase 25 percent through April 2028. Likewise, the deal reinstates benefits that GM’s auto workers have not enjoyed since the Great Recession, such as cost-of-living allowances, a three-year wage progression, and an elimination of wage tiers

Average price of a Gas Powered car is over 50K now. Add 5K to that price. They got the agreement in place just in time for the next recession.

Pretty soon only the ultra-wealthy will be able to own cars, whether they be electric or gasoline powered..... Which, I quite believe, is all part of the plan. But i do wonder if they have thought this through.... When they are out on the streets, they will be self-identifying to a restless and angry peasantry who remember when they could own and drive a car wherever and whenever they wanted.

Good for them, they got a 25% pay increase. New cars are already pretty much priced out of most peoples ability to pay for them. I would think that as prices increase to warrant paying for the increase in wages will put even more people out of the price range. But, they got their pay increase . . . and even maybe out of a job too when lack of car sales catch up to them.

By the time they realize all of their gains they will be behind the inflated economic curve they helped create. they won't be able to afford the products they build. As the genius cheap veep camela said - when union wages rise, all wages rise. so it all evens out BTW there is a major GM plant nearby and the parking lot has plenty of "rice burners"

I will no longer be able to afford a Ford, Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep, or GM product. This just makes more dependable Toyota and Honda look all the more attractive and affordable. Maybe an Audi, BWM, or Porsche since many of the Big Three products will be reaching their price ranges thanks to the new contracts wage/benefit increases. These people may have just priced themselves out of a job.

The price of the new vehicles will need to increase as a result of the new contracts. to avoid consumer fallout the length of loans will probably increase to 120 months so as to keep payments within reason. Of course, interest rates are also going to increase for the loans. In the end your $67,000.00 Impala will actually end up costing $89,000 if you keep it to the end of payments and it'll be worth $975 at the junk yard. For me, I'll keep repairing 2011 van for as long as it will last. So far, 235,000 miles and still running strong.

Jerusalem CNN — An Israeli strike on the densely populated Jabalya refugee camp in northern Gaza caused many casualties, officials in the enclave said Tuesday. The Hamas-controlled Ministry of Interior in Gaza reported that “20 homes were completely destroyed in the Israeli bombing that targeted a residential neighbourhood in Jabalya.” The director of Gaza’s Indonesian hospital, Dr. Atef al-Kahlout, told CNN that “hundreds” of dead and injured people arrived at the hospital and “many are still under the rubble.” Israel Defense Forces spokesman Lt. Col. Richard Hecht confirmed to CNN that the Israeli military had launched the strike, and said it was targeting a senior commander from the Hamas militant group.

FBI director Christopher Wray testified Tuesday that antisemitic threats are “reaching historic levels” across the U.S. in the wake of Hamas’s attack on Israel. “I will say that this is a threat that is reaching in some ways sort of historic levels, in part because, as you know all too well, the Jewish community is targeted by terrorists really across the spectrum,” Wray said before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. “In fact, our statistics would indicate that for a group that represents only about 2.4 percent of the American public, they account for something like 60 percent of all religious-faith hate crimes.”

The head of the FBI warned the threat of a terrorist attack within the United States was an extreme concern for the U.S. government and has reached a heightened level since the Israel-Hamas war. FBI Director Christopher Wray testified before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee on Tuesday that Hamas's attack on Israel in October "will serve as an inspiration the likes of which we haven’t seen since ISIS launched its so-called caliphate years." "The terrorism threat has been elevated throughout 2023. But the ongoing war in the Middle East has raised the threat of an attack against Americans in the United States to a

The Democratic Party is facing a crisis of identity. After Hamas invaded Israel on October 7th, killing well over a thousand people, including many women and children in the most brutal ways, the far-left found itself with a decision to make. Would it apply some nuance to the situation, or would it fall into its default of openly supporting Hamas? Unsurprisingly, they chose door number two, with massive pro-Hamas protests breaking out across the country, many of which have included genocidal language against Jews. That has left the most vocal segment of the Democratic Party in conflict with the President of the United States.
