California Gov. Gavin Newsom confirmed on Sunday that he is prepared to appoint an "interim" replacement for Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., if she leaves office early. Newsom made the statement during an appearance on NBC's "Meet the Press" on Sunday. The ailing Feinstein has confirmed that she will not run for re-election in 2024, but speculation about her health has raised questions about whether she will remain in office until her current term ends. (Snip) Lee lashed out at Newsom on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, on Sunday night. "I am troubled by the Governor’s remarks," she wrote.

Comments:

Dems are having trouble maneuvering around the ''Weekend at Diane's'' scenario as she is barely clinging to the Senate seat.

Black, white, brown, yellow, male, female, trans freak makes absolutely difference whatsoever. Whomever this twisted piece of communist filth of a governor appoints will be a radical, America hating, evil communist death democrat. She, he, it, whatever that Newsome appoints will be ten times worse than the moldering mummy that is Feinstein. Here's a thought, what if Newsome appoints himself?

Put a fly in her mouth and proclaim that the law says "there is still life in the body" so she can remain as senator even after she is what was formerly known as "dead." The Supreme Court will affirm it. After all, who has standing to challenge it? Flies are especially reliable voters for the dims.

In udda woids, Commie Lee is upset that Gruesome Newsome is reneging on his deal to give her the interim post. It would give her a leg up against Shifty Schiff (Nasty Nancy's choice) and the Ms. Potato Head, the other leftist ditz that is running for the seat. Schiff is already measuring drapes in DiFi's office.

This tells me Gavin is looking for Adam (bull) Schiff to win the seat, and powerful contributors don't want Lee. I do think he'd like to appoint himself for the interim position, then have himself set up to run for POTUS in 2028.

It's still more than a year until the "elections" (California doesn't have real elections, IMO). A lot of things can happen. The Gavinator would certainly like the idea of appointing himself Senator both for his ego and tactical positioning for running for Prez in case Biden "falters". But the Dims (i.e., Aunt Nancy) might require Newsom to appoint Commie-La to Feinstein's seat as part of a payoff to her for resigning the VPship and NOT contesting the Dims appointing the Gavinator to VP. This would position him as an "incumbent" Veep in 2024. And if Biden has "problems" during 2024, so much the better, the Dims reason. Very snaky. But this IS California...

Gavin's having problems keeping his promises to blacks. He set up a task force on reparations and they came back with a plan that would bankrupt the state. Now he is backing off his appointment of Kamala II to replace Feinstein. Likely, he knows if push comes to shove, he can bribe Sharpton or Jackson, or even Lee with taxpayer funds to calm the sheeple down.

Hundreds of asylum seekers flock to a Lower Manhattan federal building in the pre-dawn hours each day in a desperate bid to get benefits, services and keep court appointments — as confusion continues to reign during the Big Apple migrant crisis. The massive queue, nearly entirely made of migrants bused to the five boroughs from the US border, forms outside the JacobK. Javits Federal Building every morning. Those who join are seeking everything from asylum to work permits — with scores of them pitching up and spending the night on the sidewalk and using the nearby bushes as a toilet.

Climate change isn’t just creating havoc for the living. It’s coming for our dead. Great deluges of rain submerge graves and markers. Swift floods set vaults afloat. Slopes erode in scenic hillside cemeteries. And at the seaside, higher seas and storm surges swamp cemeteries and sweep sand away. For Sherene Johnson’s family, it’s the rain. Ten members of her family are buried in Brighton Memorial Gardens, a predominantly African American cemetery in Brighton, Alabama. Oil prices are surging again, but the Biden administration's biggest weapon for bringing them down has much less ammunition. Last year, the federal government drained 180 million barrels from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve as oil prices soared in the aftermath of Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the turmoil in energy markets that followed. Flooding the market with all that supply helped bring oil prices down — and helped cool inflation, which had shot up as well. Earlier this year, the administration took some steps to start refilling the SPR. But while it has ticked up slightly, the level remains near

Democrats are fretting about President Biden’s low approval ratings, exacerbated by widespread concerns about his age. Those factors seem to be getting worse rather than better. A CNN/SSRS poll released this week showed just 39 percent of adults approving of Biden’s job performance, his lowest number in more than a year. Almost three-quarters of the population, according to the poll, believes Biden lacks the stamina and sharpness to serve effectively as president. Ukrainian authorities ordered a mandatory evacuation of several villages and three dozen other populated areas as Russian troops advanced on the Kharkiv province. The evacuation directive applies to 37 settlements that Russian forces captured early in the 18-month-old war but were liberated by a Ukrainian counteroffensive in September. Citing a Russian attempt to push back into the area, the military administration in the Kupiansk district told roughly 12,000 residents to seek safety elsewhere. The order was initially issued on Aug. 10 but residents have been reluctant to relocate despite Russia's renewed push to retake the region. The resurgence comes as

The California liberal and former House Speaker even went so far as to insinuate that her true feelings wouldn’t matter, as the office of the VP doesn’t do much. Technically, that is true, as most times, we don’t have to worry about the VP since the president usually can do the job.
