The woke Church of England’s latest assault on the tenets of the Christian religion is apparently the Lord’s Prayer, which the Archbishop of York has criticised for being “oppressively patriarchal” over its reference to “Our Father”.
During a meeting of the General Synod, Church of England’s governing body, Archbishop of York Stephen Cottrell called into question the use of the Lord’s Prayer, branding the prayer offered to Christians by Jesus Christ during the Sermon on the Mount as “problematic”.

In it Jesus teaches us to invoke our Father by the term Abba -- which translates roughly to "Daddy".
Yeah, real oppressive, Mr. Cottrell. Conforming ones religious beliefs to ones political affiliation is just plain gross. Lord, have mercy.

Since he feels oppressed, he should leave the church. Not change it.

You're in the wrong business, Archbishop. Do you know what "slapping the bishop" is?

The Church of England has been a mess for years and has bled members accordingly. Back during the “Occupy” movement, the Archbishop of Canterbury allowed the filthy pigs to camp out all around St. Paul’s Cathedral in London where they defecated all over the steps and sidewalks and left piles of garbage everywhere.

The Church of England is led by Judas Priests and the demon-possessed. Christ will remember.

This "Archbishop" must have flunked out of Christian Divinity School. Does he REALLY think our God Almighty, Creator of all things, is a human male who just happens to live on another planet? If so, perhaps he should convert to Mormonism, which also shares that belief.
God uses "Language of Accommodation" in Scripture to convey Authority and Subordination, such as with Father and Son.
Sorry, Arch-heretic, God has no "Gender."

Seems this Bishop wants to be cozy with "the world (1 John 2:15). I don't think things will end well for a significant number of clerics for a variety of reasons. There are many pastors who are preaching watered down scripture because they don't want to alienate their congregations, afraid to teach about sin because that would be offensive to some who might leave to find other churches that assure them that they are OK just the way they are (no one is). These pastors are not doing the job they were hired to do ~ they are actually putting their flocks on the "wide road" to hell. There are too many of satan's minions in our pulpits; evil (the left) has infiltrated the Church.

The Archbishop has too much time on his hands to be thinking up this dumb stuff.

So, Jesus was (a) sexist, (b) ignorant, (c) politically incorrect, or (d) misquoted, having actually said “non-binary being, entity or spirit.”

Why this apostate has not been either chased out of the pulpit with firebrands or laughed to scorn says a lot about the current Church of England.

Given this so-called 'church' was started by Henry VIII in order to break with Rome and get his divorce from his first wife, not following God's Doctrine doesn't surprise me. This whole church was started by mortal men, not God.

Our Lord, Jesus Christ, spent years advising us how we can live eternally via our Father. There is no better plan and there is no other way to live forever. If you are offended by God, you have an eternal problem.

"Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name..." the Gold Standard of prayer because it is Christ instucting us how to pray, verbatim...."say these words."
It is also important to heed the second part of that instruction, "hallowed be Thy name," because it is by using HIS NAME that we distinguish HIM from those other gods HE commands us not to have before HIM.
A name is individual-specific, whereas "titles" can be generic...though HE may have many titles, e.g. "the Almighty," the "Most High," etc., HE has but one NAME, the specific designator which HE told Moses HE had not given even to Abraham, Isaac or Jacob, the Patriarchs.
There are three principle contenders for Ha Shem (HIS name): Yahweh, Jehovah and Ehyeh. Because Jehovah is the Latinized version of Yahweh, that leaves only two separate names to choose from: Yahweh (He Is) and EHYEH (I AM.)
Exodus 3:14 "Tell them I AM sent you.
EHYEH is HIS name...
"I will rescue him, I will protect him, for he acknowleges MY name," excerpt from Psalm 91.
