The spokesman for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' super PAC gave a frank assessment of the 2024 race, admitting 'we are way behind' and calling former President Donald Trump the 'runaway frontrunner.'
Steve Cortes, a former Trump surrogate who now is the spokesman for DeSantis' Never Back Down PAC, participated in a Twitter Spaces discussion Sunday night with the anonymous Twitter user CryptoLawyerz.
Cortes said he switched to team DeSantis because he believed the governor was more electable than Trump - but that's if he makes it out of the Republican primary.

There isn't enough work in the world for DeSantis to pull ahead of Trump. He should have listened to us instead of the Bushes. Give it up, Ron. Suck it in and back Trump. Then it can be your turn.

DeSantis could have been the odds-on Republican candidate for president in 2028, and the odds-on winner of the general election!!! All he had to do was swallow his pride and be Trump's biggest cheerleader for 2024. He would have then earned the support and votes of Trumps very large base of voters, as well as Trump himself.
Instead, he listened to the wrong people, and is just now having reality kick him in the head. No matter what he does now, he is seen by most Trump voters as a "Benedict Arnold". There are just too many other good Republicans waiting in the wings, biding their time, who will be available to run in 2028. And many of them are solid conservative women like Lake, Sanders, and Noem -- all of which will have my support over DeSantis in 2028 if they chose to run!!!!!

On the bright side, DeSantis has a pile of money with which to pay those campaign debts.

It is disappointing to watch DeSantis flail around like this. His potential was off the charts and the only reason he decided to make the decision to run now was motivated by ego. It is sad really because we have to look to the future and he has shown he is not where it’s at. Vivek Ramaswamy, Kari Lake and others are looking pretty good. I personally like Josh Hawley too for future consideration. The GOPe is at it again, but what they do not seem to realize is this is not their granddaddy’s Republican Party. While they do have the money and power, they do not have a loyal base committed to defeating the democrat agenda. They have politicians committed to protecting the RNC’s agenda which the base has rejected and those people do not trust the elites in the party. Watching the RNC collapse into sniveling cowards after 2020 was the final straw. It was then, the base said, no more. We have our eyes set on winning back the country from the lawless democrats and their fellow travelers and know it is going to take a warrior to do it. We have one shot at it with Trump at the helm and then needed solid conservatives to follow his term. Ron DeSantis just sidelined himself when he showed us he is disloyal, untrustworthy and most of all has the bad judgment by listening to GOPe machine. What a waste.

The Democrats and the Republican Elite have no idea how enormous the pent of anger in this country to correct the 2020 steal and all that has come about because of it.

Lots of moving parts in 2024. Joe is drowning in his corruption, Trump is being buried by indictments, the Dems have no bench (Kamala is no one's pick), and DeSantis is having problems moving from the state level to the federal level wrt voter interest.
Need a prophet to pick this one.

Talking tactics for a moment:
Trump will be our nominee for 2024. End of story.
DeSantis would be wise to pull out now and support Trump and just work on his #1 job being Florida’s governor and keeping his FL approval rating high enough. Otherwise if he starts really trying to attack Trump , Trump will fight back twice as hard, and people will remember… and DeSantis’ own FL Gov reelection bid could be in trouble in 2026.

It's so pathetic to watch sanctimonious on the tele...he moans and twists like the loser he is....his chances to be president some day is gone...WE the people will not forget his attacks on President Trump...so the bushes and chennys and lying Ryan and rove and romney are destined for the scrape heap...so much for their wanting control of the conservatives...it's President Trump's time and MAGA is our rallying cry!!

The GOPe should have learned their lesson in 2016 when their chosen boy Heb! went down in flames after squandering over $100 million. They think the base is hungering for an alternative to Trump, but they're wrong. The base is sick of them and their "Democrat lite" candidates.

This is why I continue to support Donald Trump - just as in 2016 when he and Melania stride down that escalator - Trump was thinking NOT as an attorney or career politician. DeSantis 2023 - thinking like an attorney and career politician - flames out.

DeSantis has become allied and aligned with big money donors who do not have our country’s best interests at heart. On the contrary they are globalists who are more “Democrat’lite”, as someone said. I became interested in him years ago when I saw him in a televised House committee hearing. He seemed authentic. He has lost that. The machinations to enable him to run and to keep secret what everyone knew was campaign travel, new schemes that he himself signed into law, finished him off for me. Although I think a loyal, supporting wife is beneficial to any man, I am unimpressed with the man whose wife is known to lead him, to give final OK to his decisions (as governor) and is also said to be running his campaign. Consider the possibility - even probability? - that her influence has pushed him in the wrong direction… If so, however, he allowed it to happen.

It's real simple, Ron. All of us knew what we saw that election night. Prior to that night, we saw all the swing states simply mail out ballots to every name on the voter rolls. Rolls they refuse to clean of deceased or moved away people.
Then they suspended signature validation.
This is why YOU can't get any traction. Too many of us have unfinished business. And you aren't a part of that.
